Joolstoo, you are right.I used to deal with catwalk models in a past job & boy,you wouldn't want to look at them close up.Talk about rough!

poppadum · 19/03/2006 19:21

after spending all day trying to get my 21 month old to smile for a photo to send to grandma, all I want to know is how they get their kids to smile and pose? Are they drugged? Or bribed? Or both?

crunchie · 19/03/2006 19:23

Well I haven't actually read the child modeling threads for ages, frankly they bore me to tears and I cannot be arsed to comment.

However as you know my kids are models and they are signed to one of the best agencies AND dd2 WAS signed up before she was born :) so you lot stick that in your pipes and smoke it :)

Of course I don't believe it is exploitation in my kids cases, OTOH I do believe it is in some cases where the parents live through their kids. Those pagents are sick making, and some of the kids are pigs - sorry!! THAT is child expolitation, straight modelling usually isn't when it s done professionally. Unfortuneatly the exploitation is of teh parents who get sucked into dodgy agencies and pay out loads of money and then get no work.

Oh well, off to bath the kids :)

alliebaba · 19/03/2006 19:23

thanks boris! i am normal and I do post on other threads too! I see it as a bit of fun.. neither of my kids are on any websites, books etc.. if people want to see a picture then they contact the agency and they are sent a picture direct. My daughter hasn't done any photos, and to be honest, after taking my nearly 6 year old to a casting I think she is too young (she was 1 in Jan) to be shoved around on the tube anyway. I've been on one casting with ds and we had fun, as it's a novelty to go on the underground, and we had some time just me and him, so we did enjoy it, but that was for a big job, so if we go every couple of months and have a fun day out, then that's fine by me! I know some of the other mum's take it more seriously than I do, but that's their bag... I did. So dislike it all you will, but you won't stop it by hating it i'm afraid.

popadum, some kids just 'perform' for the camera. We have trouble getting unposed photos :)

7up · 19/03/2006 20:30

hi allie, you killed the thread then my dear!

WideWebWitch · 19/03/2006 20:53

God, I've just spent a couple of minutes looking at those families and being fascinated and slightly repulsed in turns. I just cannot imagine packaging my family like that, where do they find time, apart from anytihng?!

tiredemma · 19/03/2006 20:56

i also looked at the families- im sorry, I dont normally offend on here ( really, i dont) but my god- there are some ugly adults on their, what kind of things are they being packaged for? modelling gloves and socks??

HappyMumof2 · 19/03/2006 20:57

I know, if you looked like that, would you seriously have the front to put yourself on the web for all to see? some people have no shame....

and what are the agency on, putting these people on their books????
