We're moving to Andover with a 3 year old ds1 and a new born ds2. We don't know the area at all. Please can anyone recommend:
1, good areas to live for schools etc (in and around Andover);
2, any nice nurseries for ds1;
3, good thinks to entertain dss locally;

Feeling slightly stressed Sad about the move so please tell me any other good things about the area! TIA

Dh worked in Andover for a couple of years just after we were married. We lived in Newbury though - which is actually where my brother and his family live now.

We moved from the Midlands to Andover, and the house prices were a killer - but it was lovely when we came back to the Midlands!!!
There are some lovely villages around - I preferred it slightly to the North of Andover - felt closer to home!

cod · 17/03/2006 09:20

hmm suppose it depends where you liev int he midlands

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 09:50

houses prices are little more I reckon. We have a friend who lives in Andover. I wasn't keen on it.

yes, 60/70's lame-brain planning.

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 09:52

can he not get another job? jobs are much more concentrated here in the midlands than they are down there. my area has 1% unemployment and that's just the wasters.

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 09:55

this fascinates me. 4friends - you must answer. I don't understand when people are 'forced' to move somewhere they don't want to just because of a job.

what does he do that is so specialised?

The UK is still booming. there are jobs everywhere

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 10:04

bump - arg!

toastmuncher · 17/03/2006 10:13

full of squaddies......

DaddyCool · 17/03/2006 10:14

yes, mate's DH is a squaddy.

toastmuncher · 17/03/2006 10:16

thats the only problem with being married to one- i can never be rid of them!

4friends · 17/03/2006 10:18

He's very keen to move it's for a really good job with lots of prospects. He's just been made redundant and can't get anything nearly as good locally.

Max house price of £250k, would prefer not brand new and must have at least three beds.
