Patz, does BK get much work in for 8yrs old and up,am still considerin wether to put my dd with them.Sorry dont know if you have older kids or speak to the agency much, its just that some agents seem to do loads with babies and some with older ones. She is obsessed with being in a magazine like her sister has.

patzcrafty · 21/03/2006 22:24

hya, (bk is bizzykidz isn't it?? dont laugh at me if i sound stupid!! :) if ive worked it out then I am actually much brainier than i thought i was lol)i know they just got one of thier kids confirmed for the robinsons advert and they do all the angelina magazine work. Also, i have done peacocks and they use bizzykidz regularly. They seem to be, but if you call them they should be ablet otell you what they do with that age cos thats what i did with babies when i first joined them

hope that helps and even more importantly makes sense.......im going down with that flu thing again. got rid of it, the whole familys had it for days now, i nursed them all back to health and got it back again for my troubles..

:(

mimi1uk · 21/03/2006 22:36

hello there i have just recently been applying for my son to do some modelling, and have applied to many agencies,, i am very concerened re reputable agencies and whether my son would get any work, im not bothered about tons of it anything would be great, just for the experience and pic to look back on, i have applied to many and i concerned that some are not very good reputable etc, any advice would be great... I HAVE GOT A POSITIVE RESPONSE FROM BIZZYKIDZ- DOES EVERYONE GET ACCEPTED BY THESE GUYS AS THATS WHAT IT SEEMS LIKE??????????????????,,, CHILDSPLAY, CHEEKY KIDZ AND ALLSORTS AWAITING TO HEAR FROM SOME OTHERS ARE ANY OF THESE GOOD ASGENCIES ETC?????????,,, also in resonse to the POWER MODEL MANAGEMENT I KNOW THEY ONLY TAKE CHILDREN OVER FOUR, SO IF IT WAS A CON WOULD THEY NOT TAKE ON ALL AGES, ONLY KNOW THIS AS I EMAIL A PIC OF MY SON AND GOT A REPLY SAYING THEY ONLY TAKE BCHILDREN OVER FOUR

perfumelady · 21/03/2006 22:50

cyan thanks for your advice it wasn't patronising at all, infact it was very helpful thanks.

mimi1uk if it's any help when we first did modelling one of my daughters was accepted by bizzy kidz and the other one was turned down. have you tried, mot, kids london, bruce and brown or urban angels they are the top four agencies with little or no joining fee, some of the agecies you mentioned i think have quite high fee's.

patzcrafty · 21/03/2006 22:56

there was a mum on here the other night, if you scorll down who was asking about agencies cos she was turned down by bizzykidz too.

There are loads of agencies to choose from and they all offer different things for different children and for differnet prices.

best contact a client and ask them who they use, cos there is so much conflicting advice on here that if i werent with an agency i would be sooooo confused about which one to apply to.....

and everyones opinion is their own and may not apply to another

i dont pity you lol

good luck

cimbom · 21/03/2006 23:04

I'm a lurker for a few weeks but thought I'd chime in:

patzcrafty: Power Models are featured in ALBA - as agency of the month for November 05. Perhaps the alarm bells are chiming with regard to another agency? Given the comments on here, then they're more likely to be in BK's direction.

mimi1uk: The best agencies are: Kids London, Bruce & Brown, Urban Angels, MOT Junior and as a newer kid on the block: Inspired Kidz. None of these charge a (ridiculous) assessment or interview fee as far as I'm aware. The flip side is that they're far more selective than most others, which means the numbers are low (ergo the chance of rejection, I'm afraid) but the possibility of quality and frequent work is high.

If you have no joy with those then try (with respect) the second division: BK, AK, CK etc.

Elisabeth Smith and Norrie Carr are well established (and good) but still insist on charging stupid amounts to join + an assessment fee, a practice which really should be outlawed, given the quality of competitive agencies that exist nowadays. ES & NC give the impression that your child will be attending Swiss Finishing School...

I hope this helps.

mimi1uk · 21/03/2006 23:08

awaiting to hear from the top agencies guess they are busy hence why the lesser ones are emailing lol,,,, how funny,,,,

patzcrafty · 21/03/2006 23:16

cimbom

bizzykidz are actually listed on alba aswell, i did say it may not be them and another mum said she was on the same wave length. and they are a dti regulated and approved agency if you look at thier site so your comments are a bit off track i would think

perfumelady · 21/03/2006 23:19

patzcrafty thats sound advice, i would maybe add to that, to think about what you would like your child to do? magazines like angelina, disney princess, instore like mother care , matalan,m&s etc or maybe commercials, then like it's been said already email or write to the companies and ask who they use, most big name companies have a web site just ask question through there contact button, i emailed the bbc and they replied with a massive list of agencies that they use for there magazine shoots. if i was starting out now, from the knowedge that i now have i would really take my time to research which agency does what before making a decission, i wish now that i'd gone with a non sole rep so that i could have joined a&j management or csmanagemant as well they both do loads of commercial work. i saw the page of a little boy who was with a&j and he had done nearly 40 commercials Shock

patzcrafty · 21/03/2006 23:21

oh and i have just done a check on this site and you have never ever posted before? You just suddenly arrive and make a remark like that after having been 'lurking around for weeks'....yeah right.

which agency do you work for (hmm hmm) sorry, I mean is your child with

cimbom · 21/03/2006 23:24

patzcrafty: fair enough, but the BK debate springs eternal, I'm sure you'd agree. As an agency it seems to polarise opinion more than any other on here from the posts I've read over the last few weeks. I don't doubt it does a good job in certain respects.

I personally rejected their offer to represent my kids - based on the fact that I had quite a few on the table, at the risk of sounding smug - and they thanked me for letting them know, so all ended satisfactorily and ethically well btwn myself and BK.

I would like to say that I have found the info invaluable on here, since I am a novice to all this, and it certainly helped me shape my own decision-making as regards agencies. So thank you guys for that.

cimbom · 21/03/2006 23:39

I didn't pretend that I'd posted before.
I have been lurking for weeks. My wife asked me to (yes, I am a male of the species) guest of an evening or six to see if my views on agencies correlated with her own based on what she'd read herself from objective posters here such as izzyrubi. So that's what I did.

This was based on a female friend of ours who sensibly said that if you wanted the real low-down on agencies before making a choice then try a forum such as this. So that's what we did.

I don't work for any agency and I don't think I've given an impression of bias for or against any one in particular. There's nothing cloak and dagger about my posting here.

patzcrafty · 21/03/2006 23:40

i agree perfume lady, that is exactly what people should do. Isnt hinesight (spelt wrong I know, stop laughing!), a wonderful thing

x

perfumelady · 21/03/2006 23:52

patz Grin no i think it's got something to do with the time of night and if you had spelt it right i probably wouldn't have understood the word.

cimbom, how old is your little one? which agency out of the top four did you choose to join in the end? glad this thread could be of some help to you. some times it is so confussing with lots of conversations going on at once.

cimbom · 22/03/2006 00:02

perfumelady: our twins are 5 (boy/girl). They went up recently on IK's site. I had an offer from KL (for both) but this was after I committed to IK. I spoke to the owner (Sue W.) at length who was excellent and very objective; she said wait and see for three months as regards number of castings/jobs before making any radical decisons when it comes to ditching your agent.

In other words: give them a chance she said, which is what I shall do as our gut feeling is good on IK. There's a lot of positive talk on here re: IK and it's a kind of honeymoon period with them for many (I think) but the proof of course will be in the consistency of castings/work they procure for the kids. Time will tell.

If nothing happens then I'll put them with KL in time for the model book in October. I might choose MOT as well but again, if I do, then that's a no-no with KL as they'd want to be sole rep. It gets a bit messy, this child modelling lark!

patzcrafty · 22/03/2006 00:13

can anyone who is reading this please correct me if I am wrong.......am I going mad?????

Cimbom posted one minute, the most amazing advice with the most accurate wording that only an experienced person in the industry or parent that has been doing this for years would, or indeed could(

  1. you named all the so called 'biggest 4

agencies and named inspired kids as the 'new
    kid on the block'....

  2. You then advised on their fee structures

  3. gave the 'flip side' that they are more
    selective than most other agencies

  4. stated their numbers are low "ergo the chance
of rejection, I'm afraid" but the possibility
of quality and frequent work is high.

  5. then as a 'complete novice to all this'
(yawn) you advised to try the 'second
    division' BK AK & CK

then to to it all off

  1. you stated that "Elisabeth Smith and Norrie Carr are well established (and good) but still insist on charging stupid amounts to join + an assessment fee, a practice which really should be outlawed, given the quality of competitive agencies that exist nowadays. ES & NC give the impression that your child will be attending Swiss Finishing School...

Well forgive me if I am the only one that can see into this cr@p

in your next posting you stated you were a complete 'novice' and just having a browse to help your wife out in making a choice

PLEEEEEEZ

we may all be women honey, mums and completely nappy brain dead, but we are not stupid!!!

You know alot about everything for someone who knows alot about nothing?????

Let me hazard a guess........you dont happen to work for one of the mmmmm let me think......mmmm, could it be one of the 'BEST' agencies you mentioned??? you wouldnt be so silly to put your agency first, so would it be the second on the list, or maybe the third.

Bizzykidz are approved by the dti and are one of the busiest around at the moment. Not saying they are the best cos I wouldnt know as i am not with any of the others, but what i do know is they supplied all the kids for toonattick, dick and dom, most adverts and loads of magazine work. I email them every month and they send me a list of the work they have done that month.

My conclusion to all this is that perhaps you are maybe a bit worried about the competition???

Maybe you should concentrate your efforts into getting more work for your kids instead of coming on here and trying to sabotage a competitor.

I have pasted these postings onto an email and sent them to bizzykidz tonight and hopefully they will see right through you like I have

This has got to be the worst case of trying to kid a kidder that i have ever seen!! To be a good liar you have got to have a good memory.....it only took you a few minutes to trip yourself up

nice try

GOD
(bad time of the month, went a bit over the top everyone, sorry about that, but please, someone tell me I am not being paranoide here???)

You cannot give spot on advice like a true long term professional and then claim you are a novice and 'der, I know nothing!!!!!)

I'm going to bed, youve given me an headache

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

patzcrafty · 22/03/2006 00:17

just read the reply to you, what a surprise, he (or she or whoever it is) is with 'NEW KID ON THE BLOCK!!!! INSPIRED KIDZ'

Please dont waste your breath reading this crap ladies

How long have they been going and a newcomer comes along to say everyone else is rubbish, and puts a non runner with the likes of those four top agencies.

I knew you wouldnt put your agency as the first, should have guessed really it would be the last one, and you even labelled it the new kid on the block

If I am wrong then you must be a professor in modelagencyology

x

cimbom · 22/03/2006 00:25

patzcrafty: you've just made yourself look an idiot. Well done.

Cut and paste all you like. I've said nothing on here that's defamatory to any agency. I have undertaken - together with my wife and our mutual friends - a LOT of research in recent weeks such that I might make the right decision for my children. This has educated me very quickly to things like reputation, fee structures, how the industry works, etc. As a result of reading this forum and speaking to friends whose kids are ith agencies too then I believe the comments I made stand.

You will note from a previous post that I stressed specifically that I severed any potential agreement with BK in a satisfactory and businesslike manner when rejecting their offer to take on my kids. I fail to see what they're going to get so worked up over once they read the shock-horror News Of The World-type revelations that I'm supposed to have written about them tonight. There aren't any.

The phrase "The lady doth protest too much" springs to mind with your somewhat neurotic posts. Any sensible, intelligent and regular poster to this forum will deduce that I am not the one with the hidden agendas here.

Keep digging yourself a bigger hole.

mimi1uk · 22/03/2006 00:29

i feel scared to post on here, seems like its a advertising agency as opposed to a chat room for mums who's children do acting modelling etc... just want to say i have genuinally come here to gather info,,, i have sent my application off to bizzykidz and we shall see what happens, if i hear from any others that seem reputable and offer dual rep then i may consider joining two , might help to get a few more offers etc,,, i hope i did not upset any one in what i said about bizzykids as i ahve joined my son to them,, it seemed like lot of people had offers from them or say they have had,, and as much as i think he is gorgeous i guess others will tell me that too if i am paying £100- to them,, oh well we shall wait and see cheque is in the post now, whats £100 nowdays lol,,,,,

patzcrafty · 22/03/2006 00:29

you have said nothing defamatory at all, I never said you did???

what i did say in brief is that you have clearly used this to advertise your agency, which you have

dont matter what agency i am with, wont ever mention them again. what is clear is the agency you are with and your motif for coming on here.....

(what hole?? there is one, but it isnt empty cos there is someone already in it!! if you move along a bit I will keep you company)

mimi1uk · 22/03/2006 00:32

lol how funny

patzcrafty · 22/03/2006 00:32

mimi1uk

lol....you are right honey

uuugh!! I am so mad. It is a clear case of company advertising with that, whoever it is!

anyway, how old is your littleun? Some agencies are busier with different ages. One mum was on here the other week, saying that they are with a few agencies cos they get more modeling work with one and tv work with another, so might be worth joining a couple.

alot of these mums are with a few actually and if you ask, one of the parents (cant remember which one) knows which agencies are sole rep and which ones arent so you can join them ones.

mimi1uk · 22/03/2006 00:33

i am laughting so much in bed now, i cannot stop and my son and partner are fast asleep i am lol i am gonna wake them lol
