No probs! 9lbs in 2 wks is easy-peasy!! I've put on a stone in 2 wks before!

salt · 10/12/2003 13:06

Oh no, I've only just picked this up again and am failing very badly already - last night I had half bottle of wine this morning I had about 4 cups of coffee, no water, cheese roll, crisps and chocolate for lunch. A few months ago I weighed 9.5st now I weigh 10.8... That's it - I am starting now... lots of water this afternoon and a healthy tea... and tomorrow, I will be as good as the rest of you are being!

I have a problem fitting exercise into the day though - does anybody do exercise videos? are they any good? should I invest in one or is it a waste of money?

fio2 · 10/12/2003 13:44

salt I have got a few exercise viseos but I think it is just so difficult to fit one into your day because most of them are an hour long. I could just do with a 15 min workout plus a bit of walking here and there (which I have to do anyway!)

Just out of interest how tall are salt and harman because 10.10 and 10.8 does not sound overly heavy, just being nosey but you both are most probably in the correct BMI anyway, maybe

dsw - I am actually getting quite interested in detox if I can still drink at weekends

dsw · 10/12/2003 13:47

fio2 - you are not supposed to, but I did the thought of giving up wine all together was beyond me....But giving it up 5 nights out of 7 is manageable.

Sonnet · 10/12/2003 14:34

There is no way I could stick to a dettox religiously......I have done a "sort of" dettox before but did have wine at the weekend....I can't remember how much weight \i lost but I felt a lot better for it....

Not bragging here but I've just been for a run and feel great....(I won't tomorrow when I can't move). I've only run a mile but it's better than nothing!!

Salt - I struggle with exercise video's for the same reason as you fio2 - when do I have a spare hour and in the evening I'm too knackered!!
I'm lucky though coz the days I work there is a pool nearby and I USE to swim regularly - I'm going to do that again. Only as I was WFH today could I fit a run in
Have you thought about going for a brisk walk at lunchtimes if you work, or checking out a local pool?

melsy · 10/12/2003 15:22

Hi girls can I join in???? I think I am 10:10 ish and only 5'2" so a bit podge after baba of 12weeks. I went up to nearly 12st preggers arrrgghh. I was 7:5-8 st for years and years until beggining 2002.

I sort of do the weight watchers thing with points.Anyone familiar??? I used to eat 30-40 odd points, now down to 14-18 a day. Only have a little alcohol/choco , but that is only vice allowed. If u knew what a PIG I was before u would be surprised by my will power. I think it was getting preggers that did it - having to give up smoking/drinking/pate/unpastuerised cheese etc.

crystaltips · 10/12/2003 16:27

Well One step forwards and 3 steps back ...

Did an hour on the cross trainer this morning .. Good Girl Crystaltips .....

BUT then went to my girlfriends birthday :
2 glasses of wine
1 Foccicia ( sp )
2 cups of coffee

so bang goes the no wine / coffee / wheat....
Had a nice time though !!

dsw · 10/12/2003 16:28

ROFL Glad you had a nice time!!

crystaltips · 10/12/2003 18:07

Seriously now ....

IF ( and I do say IF ) - I feel strong enough to cut out the booze for a while ... what is your best alternative to relieve those stressful moments ? Because as yet I have not found an alternative that helps me to relax as quickly.

PLEASE don't say a lovely cold glass of slim-line tonic with a slice of lemon as that one just WONT wash !!

Welcome \Melsey......I too use to be 7.5 to 8 stone - I blame it all on DD2
ROFL Crystaltips - well done for xtrainning...

I can't suggest an altenative to a nice glass of wine in the evening. I've got to admit I've got one now....well I am suppose to be writing Xmas cards and call me a miserable old cow but I hate doing them!!
I find that the more frequently I exercise the less I want alcohol, chocolate etc - it's like I'm loathe to put it in my "clean" body (ROFL at that concept!ha ha ha...). I find giving up wine the hardest thing about dieting/healthy eating. I don't drink excessivly just regularly IYKWIM :0

Sonnet · 10/12/2003 20:21

Where's Forestfly today????

Must confess that I havn't disclosed my weight coz i havn't got any scales...but have got a waderobe full of clothes i can only dream of getting into!! - don't think I'll do it by Xmas though!!

fio2 · 10/12/2003 21:03

maybe forestfly's detox included cutting out mumsnet too

so on the detox you cant have wheat - I am pressuming bread has wheat in it?yes? because I have been very good but ate toast at breakfast and lunch, sardines, marmite, salad, salmon, just water no caffeine or alchohol and have had two 1 hour walks - does this count as detox?

Sonnet · 11/12/2003 09:19

OMG - you're really going for it fio2 - well done.

I think it does.....But you also have to eat huge quantities of Fruit and Veg. I know that Beetroots dettox had days where you can just eat veg and then fruit days...

What do you drink instaed of coffee...I am a caffine addict and i have limited myself to 1 cup of instant first thing in the morning and then 1 Large black fresh coffee at work. I find it harder to cutr down anymore than that...

What are you planning to do today?
I've had yogurt with a small handfull of museli and some dried apriocts so far and am planning a swim at lunchtime (40 lengths)...
the smell of bacon form the canteen is doing my head in....

I eat a satsuma and some peppers etc in the salad. I also had some cauldron, which is a vegetarian pate - which I must say is lovely.

This morning though I have had boiled egg on toast, which I suppose doesnt count - but it is only 3 points on weightwatchers(so very low in points)

I would like to say thank you to you all though because even if I am not detoxing I am definatley sticking to my weightwatchers plan and eating more healthily this week! and coping without alcohol!!

Sonnet I dont drink coffee, I just drink decaf tea. I must admit a few years ago I tried to cut out caffiene and got the most god awful headaches. So I think its something you may have to do gradually - like just having one cup of coffee instead of two, then half and so on.

They were so bad and constant for 48 hrs. I almost couldn't function....
Got to confess I gave in....

I have cut back though as I did drink up to 8 cups a day.

I am going to reduce the size of them so i cut back a bit more gradually - do you think this will work?
