Who can help me with a couple of technical questions about MSN?

I upgraded my MSN today to the above version.

Is it possible to change my address? and if so how? I have clicked all over the place, but can't find anyway of changing it.

Secondly, is it possible to retain a transcript (for want of a better word) of conversations had with people on MSN?

Thank you.

I downloaded 7.5 and it totally killed my msn. In the end I had to do a complete system restore. But the few times it did work, i was able to access my history etc as normal. I dont know about email addy changes though.

try here

I know it can be changed as I have changed mine when I changed ISP. Follow the link to the right page.

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 19:43

Your link kid seems to be for people who have to change their address. i don't have to, I only want to. Does that make a difference?

Tamba, that is bad news! I found msn when I first signed on to it messed up my computer, but I have updated before with no problems. I wish I hadn't bothered today though.

Anyone able to help me with my second question?

you can do the re4cording thing... go through all the tabs at the top of the page...

kid · 25/02/2006 19:47

You can save conversations but it has to be set up to do this before you start the conversation.
If you go to 'tools' then 'options' on the left hand side select 'messages' then check 'automatically keep a history of my conversations'

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 20:04

Thank you kid, and everyone else.

DumbledoresGirl - do you want to change what other people can see you as or change your address for that account?

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 20:08

No I have changed my name so that it shows DumbledoresGirl instead of Lonelymum, but What I am hoping to also chnage is my address which currently starts Lonelymum@.... to DumbledoresGirl@.....

Can you open up a new account with hotmail to do that...or add an extra email addy to that account i wonder...I will go see what i can find

MummyJules · 25/02/2006 20:23

You would just need to get a whole new hotmail address and then log in on that, keep a note of any contacts you want to add to your new sign in name.

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 20:24

Oh right, I won't bother then. Will have to keep Lonelymum as a momento of days past.

My msn is [email protected] if you want it dumbledoresGirl (fab name - I would rather be Sirius's girl myself though )

welshboris · 25/02/2006 20:24

When you open the MSN box to sign in, at the bottom of the blue long rectangle box where you put your password in, it says "open a new account"

you can get a new hotmail address that way, you cant change your exisiting email address

hth

charliecat · 25/02/2006 20:26

Your sign-in name can't be changed after you create your account. If you want a new sign-in name, you must create a new account.

yep, you cant change you have to open a new one

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 20:27

Tamba, I have always had a thing about older men!

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 20:28

BTW, You are offline sweetie!

OP posts:
TambaTheDragonSlayer · 25/02/2006 21:28

LOL for me Sirius is an older man - I much prefer men to be at leat 15 years older than me (im 23)

I was in the bath and am watching dancing on ice atm

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 22:09

Well as Dumbledore is supposedly 150, I am truly going for the oldest or older men.

But I would like to say that Sirius might be an older man to me (if he had stayed alive that is!)

OP posts:
DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 22:12

Anyway, didn't I just know you were going to say For me Sirius is an older man!

How are you today? Feeling better I hope?

I just finished re-reading the books. Was the potition that dumbledore took 'the draught of living death'?

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 23:02

Please God it was something recoverable from.

I am not sure I can face Book 7 without him!

OP posts:
TambaTheDragonSlayer · 25/02/2006 23:03

lol you are as bad as me

What is your theory on the whole dumbledore and snape thing?

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 23:06

Oh definitely that Snape was working on Dumbledore's orders. I refuse to believe that D could have got S so completely wrong - no story in that. Also, the one thing that really got S riled was when Harry called him a coward. I think that is because S truly is a double agent working for the right side and that takes enormous courage and so S is really stung by how wrong Harry is about him. But did S kill D on D's orders or did he just do something to make it look like D died? Now there is the question.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 25/02/2006 23:12

cause they focused alot on spells where you didnt have to say the incantation out loud, so we dont actually know what he said. And Dumbledore flew up in the air. Cedric diggory just crumpled when the avarda cadarva hit him. And the phoniex was singing loads (healing?)

Dumbledore knew that no one lasted longer than a year at the defense against dark arts job too so must have expected snape to be gone at the end of the year.

DumbledoresGirl · 25/02/2006 23:18

I also read somewhere that JKR said in another book that when a wizard dies his wand is snapped in two, but there is no mention of this happening to D's wand. Don't know if that is clutching at straws!

I don't see how Harry could find and destroy the other horcruxes and destory V without D's help in Bk 7. He was so hopeless when he went with D to get the locket horcrux.

Obsessed? me?
