1 I need a tie in midnight blue for dp and ds.

2 What to do with my nails, basic manicure or french?

3 Not even thought about flowers yet, any ideas?

And lastly, my silly question for the day - what happens on the wedding day with your engagement ring, do you put it on another finger, not wear it at all, clueless!! Then of course, once hitched, do you put engagement ring on first then wedding ring or visa versa!

I gave my engagement ring to my mum to wear during the ceremony and then put it back on once we were at the reception.

Ha ha Sallystrawberry, just left you a message on your 'im bored' thread!! So this is it, you are my offical wedding planner. My dress is ivory, bridesmaids are white/cream. It's a secret wedding with just the seven of us, want something simple but stunning.

When are you getting married? What colour are your bridesmaids wearing? What style of wedding? Traditional, contemporary? What style is your dress? - need the answers to all the above before I can think about flowers!!!!

Ok Littlefish, getting married 18 March, bridesmaids white/cream, me ivory. Unconventional wedding in that it is just us seven, we are getting changed after ceremony and going out for some fun then off to our fav restaurant in evening. Decided against big wedding as had negative comments from various family members so thought blow them we'll spend the reception money on taking the children on 'honeymoon' with us.

if you are having midnight blue ties,
I would compliment the bouquet to match this

I bought a beautiful bouquet for my dd wedding as her dh was wearing blue kilt, it was a fake bouquet but it was beautiful, white, creams and blue

engagement ring off until after cermony
then put on after wedding ring

Somanykiddies · 15/02/2006 12:39

SallyStrawberry, you are the Queen of Ties, many thanks. You still bored?

alos had matching buttonholes made too, blue and white

Hazellnut · 15/02/2006 12:47

I had my engagement ring on the ring finger of my right hand before I went into ceremony and put it back on left hand at some point afterwards.

Flowers - I would go for something simple as its a small wedding (mind you, I had a biggish wedding but still had simple flowers) I think more effective than a huge bouquet. Choose one type of flower - eg. I had about 6 arum lillies tied with a gold ribbon as my bridesmaid was in gold. Tulips look nice for bridesmaids too. Maybe go for white/cream flowers tied with blue to match the men's ties.

Sounds lovely SK - how romantic having such a personal wedding. How many bridesmaids? How old?

Got to go out now, but will ponder the flower situation and be back later!

Somanykiddies · 15/02/2006 12:49

Like the idea of tuplips Hazellnut, but won't cream/white look incipid or is it stylish? Should I have a stronger colour tied with blue ribbon?

MrsBadger · 15/02/2006 12:50

Hard to get hold of really dark blue flowers - thistles may cut it if you're Scottish.
My bridesmaids wore a kind of bronze colour and I couldn't find any flowers at all to match them. In the end I went for all cream with lots of foliage thus - looked great and goes with anything!

I completely forgot to do anything with my engagement ring in all the excitement, so DH just slipped the wedding ring on next to it - I swapped them round later as I take the engagement ring off more for cleaning etc.

Hazellnut · 15/02/2006 12:50

this was the kind of thing I had but simpler- without the leaves although had a few strands of bear grass coming out.

flowers

If you go to google and go to images and search wedding flowers it brings up loads to look at.

Hazellnut · 15/02/2006 12:51

what about a yellow tulips as that would go with the cream and blue and would be v. spring like. or maybe deep purple ones might tone with the blue ?

Great website Sallystrawberry, thank you will look in detail later.

Littlefish, 4 bridesmaids, 6, 10, 13 and 14.

MrsBadger · 15/02/2006 12:52

and having all cream flowers wasn't insipid!

Somanykiddies · 15/02/2006 12:55

MrsBadger, was that you in the photo, if so, great flowers and fab figure. Of course, I forgot about foliage that would take the edge of the whiteness. Can you tell I've been hard slogging today, sorted hair and make up, hopefully bridesmaids dresses and am hoping that Bubblerock will come up with a great hotel for my honeymoon (she's sorting holidays on another thread)! Getting exceited now.

Mazzystar · 15/02/2006 12:55

what about creamy-apricot coloured flowers, old english roses or peonies maybe? would look nice with blue

Hazellnut · 15/02/2006 12:56

Mrs B - I guess somanykiddies thought it might be with white/cream bridesmaids too which I guess it might be better with some colour. I had white flowers too but a gold bridesmaid. In fact, SMK, we had a cream/blue/gold colour scheme so how about gold-ish coloured flowers ...

eidsvold · 15/02/2006 13:07

french for the nails, flowers - sorry no idea. I wore my engagement ring on my right hand and then put it on my left after the ceremony. Wedding ring first and then engagement ring and then I wear my eternity ring last.
