Thanks both. I think it's just making me so tired and it's hard when I just want to rest and E is clingy. It'll be ok soon. Plus it's the weekend soon, I get to rest then [hopeful emoticon]

Quodlibet · 28/06/2012 16:04

Hello all!

Got a 5 minute break from all the madness and thought I'd check in with you all.
LAHG really sorry you are all so ill, how horrid. Did you explain what HG is? I don't know either (doesn't sound nice!)

Harpie that sounds like a ridiculous run-around. Maybe sit tight for a bit and see if one or other of them gets in touch with you?

I've had my own fun fun fun with councils this morning as our first performance was cancelled due to them suddenly deciding that they weren't happy for performances to be happening where they have been happening for 3 weeks (and past years) so we had to derig and re-rig and change our set-up so missed a show. Honestly you wouldn't believe the levels of bureaucratic nonsense.

Bebe that is a fantastic report! She is probably driving you bonkers because she is so bright. Is she looking forward to proper school?

Well, we are TTC again over here, quietly and with little fuss! I think DP is better if we don't actually mention anything about fertile days! Only hitch is that the end of this cycle in 2 weeks coincides with a music festival I'll be at with all my friends and colleagues, where me not drinking would be impossible to miss. However I think for the sake of sanity my approach is going to be 'act as if not pg until evidence proves otherwise'. I'm not really expecting to conceive this go around if truth be told - it now feels like ages we've been either TTC or NPP very effectively, and nothing so far!

Leftwingharpie · 28/06/2012 17:58

Sorry to hear about your run in with the bureaucrats! I work for an LA myself so it's only too easy to believe!

Good to hear you are back on the baby trail. There's a seat reserved for you on the pg bench with me and Minipie and LAHG.

I'm still stressing out about my BBT. If being utterly neurotic is a pg symptom then I've finally got one! Grin

strawberrypie · 29/06/2012 12:10

Don't stress! I only started getting symptoms at 6 weeks so they might be just around the corner!

Get well soon LAHG and family!

Well done minibebe on the fab report! What a little star :)

LookAtHerGo · 29/06/2012 12:12

I'm sorry for missing the question about HG. It is hyperemesis. Touching wood that so far I've on,y got low level nausea and when I'm hungry its worse, so it's just an excuse to eat more :)

Quod, sorry to hear of your council trouble. And yay for quiet TTC :)

Harpie, stressing until you see you bean on the screen is normal.

Bebe, excellent stuff form the pre school :)

Mini, I borrowed one of those dopplers last time, was lovely listening in, although I had to restrain myself from doing it every day! I might see if we can borrow it again, if not I'll poss buy one.

LookAtHerGo · 29/06/2012 12:13

I'm suffering quite a bit with dizziness and near fainting, but on the whole not feeling mega pg yet. Less than 3 weeks till my scan :)

Quodlibet · 01/07/2012 09:56

Oh LAHG that doesn't sound nice at all, must be extra hard to cope with when you've got a little one speeding around too.

My sister is due in 3 WEEKS! I am beyond excited. Went to stay at hers the other night and we watched the baby squirming around, her bump was rippling all over the place. It's crazy to think there's a new member of my family in there just below the surface. I've got some time off this week finally so I can start buying/making a few bits for her.
What are your top tips for new mum presents?
My sister is insisting that she wants me to go round every day after the baby is born (!) so I imagine I'll have a fair bit of opportunity to cook her meals/sort laundry etc too.

LookAtHerGo · 01/07/2012 15:33

3 weeks? Are you kidding me? Wow. That's come around so so quickly.

Hmm new mum pressies, a friend bought me alcohol and pâté! Which was lovely, although I've not yet drunk the alcohol, and won't do so now! But I'd kill for some rest, so letting her have a lie down if she wants it. Grin

strawberrypie · 01/07/2012 19:27

I typed in vasaline and my phone changed it to bassoons for some reason! Vasaline might be more useful- for baby's skin and dry nipples. An insulated cup might be a good idea to keep her tea warm for longer- I'm only just back into the realms of drinking a hot brew now I'm back at work!

strawberrypie · 01/07/2012 19:31

That breastfeeding book intentioned to LWH- The food of love by Kate Evans (I think) is a good one.....and maybe a good box set of DVDs to watch whilst feeding?

Oh-definitely a sling if she hasn't got one- a moby one is really good for newborns or a mei tai can be used when they get older too.

strawberrypie · 01/07/2012 19:33
  • I mentioned to LWH!
Quodlibet · 01/07/2012 21:07

Wow great suggestions all, thanks! Is it worth me seeing if she gets on with BF before giving her that book or is it one that won't make you feel guilty if you can't do it? She is very much intending to BF. Not really sure how to approach it!

bebejones · 01/07/2012 21:57

Quod - If she wants you to go every day possibly the best thing you can give her is some time to have a shower & get some food while you watch the LO!! DD always used to wake up the second I sat down with a plate of food (especially if it was hot) & the moment I got in the shower she would start screaming!

Maybe get her some nice tasty healthy nibbles to sustain her. And some nice new mummy bath time goodies. Think Burts Bees do a nice set. Magazines/DVDs also good. Or maybe a Gift Voucher for her fave clothes shop so when she needs some new non maternity wear stuff she can go & treat herself. Or a 'voucher' for you to babysit so that she can go out with her OH for the evening (when she is ready to leave the baby of course!!)

Had a busy weekend, made a load of cakes for DDs preschool & spent yesterday dashing around. Quieter today but had loads of house stuff to do so doesn't actually feel like I've had a weekend IYKWIM?!

Hope everyone is ok? x

LookAtHerGo · 02/07/2012 20:53

Yeah E always woke up very hungry the minute my food was ready, I'm not sure how I'll deal with feeding me, a tiny newborn and an almost 18month old, but I'm sure I'll get it sorted eventually! Lol. It may be me that goes hungry!

I think the bugs are all gone now from the house of I'll, thankfully. I've had some more rest, including 1hr 20 on the settee while e napped in her pushchair after baby group. Getting her up ealier in the morning and she's not started napping mid morning, so she's having longer at middayish, which means I can nap too :) woo. But I'm also going to bed earlier now too. My social life is taking a bit of a dive, not that I went out much, but I'm not really spending much evening time with OH after tea and bed routine is done.

Leftwingharpie · 04/07/2012 06:49

Morning all! What an exciting next three weeks we're going to have! Quod POAS (hopefully) and then becoming an Auntie, LAHG's scan, presumably Minipie is coming up for another scan? And I've got my booking appointment on 19th - same day as LAHG's scan!

Leftwingharpie · 04/07/2012 06:49

Anything I've missed?

strawberrypie · 04/07/2012 08:14

Exciting times LWH!

Quod- your sister will need to read the book before the baby is born, ideally so she can be prepared for what to expect. Going to a BF support group with the bump is a good idea too so she knows where it is and feels comfortable going when the baby arrives. There are only a very few women who can't physically BF, any other problems can be overcome with the right support and advice so she will be fine!

Quodlibet · 04/07/2012 10:00

Thanks Strawberry - I read some reviews on Amazon and have ordered it for her and will give it to her as an early present. Thanks for the recommendation!

So here's my dilemma - going to a music festival on Thursday with about 20 friends/colleagues and DP (and his colleagues/friends). Zero personal space and lots of alcohol - plus we both have shows. AF is due on Sat or Sun. When do I test??? In a dark stinky portaloo in a field with a queue of my friends outside??! Or do I test before I go just in case, sit it out over the weekend and providing no AF test on Monday?

Leftwingharpie · 04/07/2012 12:23

How many DPO will you be on Thursday?

minipie · 04/07/2012 12:52

I don't get another scan till 1 August harpie and I'll be 21+4 by then.

Good luck with scan LAHG and booking appt harpie - exciting stuff!

Quod which cycle ttcing is this for you now? are you feeling impatient for the BFP or still just getting used to actually being ttcing after all this time Grin.

Re testing - tricky one. The sensible answer is wait till Monday and just don't get too hammered in the meantime. What I'd probably be doing is taking a test on Thursday and then again on Saturday somehow and then on Monday if still no AF... but that's my psycho long term ttcer head talking Grin

Leftwingharpie · 04/07/2012 13:49

Just realised booking appt is during the last week of term so I won't be allowed the time off unless I tell them what it's for.

Next four weeks then! So exciting!

lagartija · 04/07/2012 14:21

are you a teacher LWH? I thought you were a lawyer? Confused

Leftwingharpie · 04/07/2012 14:35

I am but I advise a lot of schools and we're very busy at the end of the summer term.
