Its starting to rain a bit here and temps due to drop at the end of the week. LOts of intestinale going round here so am being manic about hand washing. OUr Mils would get on fine - Virus is an excuse when a doctor doesn't know what is wrong with a child/ person.
I like a oaky whiskey over ice to sip gently. Love an after dinner brandy but it has to be a good one or I get a headache!! So needless to say we don't have either in the house. However, we do have good wine which we have started to say sod it we are not keeping for a special event when we want to we will drink it ! I also like Montenegro after a good meal . ACtually come to think of it Gordons and Scheweppes as well... God I sould like an alcoholic but we don't drink that often inn fact hardly at all!
Parents arrive on thursday when we have bad weather foreast for days so the nic pranzo overlooking the lagoon sounds liek it will be a wash out !

LOL Rosa, my doc always used to say 'oh well, probably it's a virus' :D

LOL ladies, we've no alcohol at home, we only drink once a week or in a fortnight, usually beer or wine.....
Someone gave us a bottle of whisky as a gift ('the famous grouse' or something like that) and we gave it away after two weeks because we don't care LOL I could have sent it to you Wine

Anyway, if in the next days you don't see me around, it means we lost the connection. It has been on and off since yesterday.
We start 'to dance' here, wind gales are awful. I've to go to college for the last lecture of the semester this afternoon and I wonder how I can get out of the car when I'm there Hmm

Have a nice day :)

Francagoestohollywood · 27/11/2012 14:50

Grin. We don't drink that much as well, perhaps half a glass of wine each at dinner or we share a small bottle of beer in the summer, also at dinner. But I do love alcohol, I also like cocktails etc, I must have been an ubriacona in another life Grin

I have a bad cold, it's been building up since yesterday and now aI feel super crap. Of course dh has just left to go to Holland for work. Hmm. Me and the children will join him on friday, I hope to recover by then.

Rosa · 27/11/2012 15:07

Holland for the weekend - Franca take loads of Vit C as in loads, Echinhea , do aerosols and take drugs ( before you get to Holland that is !!!!)
It is now really pissing it down and I have to go and get DD1 ... Then minirosa on a play date... Yipee has dh offered to help? ...Nope!

Merlin, yes, report back. I don't think I could survive a Scottish winter Grin

Rosa, yes, will do. Raining lots here too. Thankfully my mother (santa donna) is picking up the dc for me this afternoon. And thankfully ds doesn't have the allenamenti this afternoon.

I will make a nice risotto con zucca for tonight.

Sputnik · 27/11/2012 22:05

Sorry to post and run like that.
I have a cold too Franca :(

MerlinScot · 27/11/2012 22:30

Franca, sorry to hear you've a cold! Hope you'll get better by the time you're leaving for Holland :)

Posted in the bidet thread too! Wth... why do people find the bidet strange? i miss not having one!

Concerning the weather, thanks for your well wishes. I need loadsa offf them, because tonight we're expecting rain and snow, from Thursday just lots of snow.

I'm praying that this is not going to be like the winter in 2010 :(

Francagoestohollywood · 28/11/2012 08:21

Ciao Sputnik! e ciao a tutte

I am feeling much better this morning, thank you all.

Merlin, I am not sure why there is such controversy re bidets. I remember a very long thread ages ago about bidets and I remember finding info about the bidet's history.
Apparently bidets were all the rage in French brothels, therefore sparking indignation in Victorian Britain, which is probably one of the reasons why they never became popular there. Boh!

Best wishes for the weather Merlin, it's been raining here constantly for 2 days adn I am already fed up.

Sputnik · 28/11/2012 21:29

Merlin hope you don't get too badly snowed in and it passes quickly.
We've had heavy rain here but no flooding so far.

MerlinScot · 29/11/2012 21:58

So far, it is just cold and no snow yet... crossing fingers the weather forecasts were wrong ;)

Today big day for me... I finally found the courage to break a horrible 'friendship' with a woman I met 14 years ago... and after years of crap and her moon-sized ego today I stated what I wanted to say after ages....
I'm celebrating about the good riddance Wine

Rosa · 30/11/2012 06:21

Franca have a wonderful time in Holland...Hope its not too cold.
Merlin glad no snow as yet... Temps have dropped a bit her but due to go down low in next few days. Yesterday it was about 16deg ...mad! However the rain eased at I managed to almost get washing dry.
Well done about sorting out the friend , I don't have the courage when it comes to things like that and tend to support and suffer or just avoid as much as I can.
Nonni arrived and minirosa I sware took off when she saw Grandma never seen her little legs move so fast!

OP posts:
BananaGio · 02/12/2012 07:43

Bless minirosa with her Grandma. How long are they over for Rosa? How was Holland Franca? Cannot believe i have missed a bidet thread, seemed a tame one though.
Went to piazza navona yesterday to hand over letter to babbo natale who asked for 10 euros for a photo with him! Guess he hasnt heard there is a crisi on, we walked off smartish after hearing that!

MerlinScot · 02/12/2012 14:49

BananaGio, I admit I had never, NEVER heard of any Santa Claus that pretended money to take a picture of him with someone else....
In Italy, the spirito natalizio must have ended up into the rubbish bin :(

Rosa, hope everything went well with nonni visit and I guess minirosa was very excited!
I also hope Franca enjoyed her trip to Holland!!

Regarding the snow, we had some yesterday and a bit today, but it always melted away ;) Crossing fingers it'll stay that way. We've to go down to Cumbria for Xmas holidays.

Back to my study again, I've two exams this week, and another one the following week, Ouch!!

Francagoestohollywood · 02/12/2012 19:31

Lol lol lol at babbo natale asking for money! Only in Italy!

We had a lovely time in Amsterdam, and spent time with our friends who live there. It is such a beautiful city, I would move there without batting an eyelid and dd said she would too. Shame the weather is so crap.

Rosa happy to hear nonni are there, have great time!

Merlin fingers crossed for the exams and good on you for speaking clearly to that woman.

Rosa · 04/12/2012 19:44

I thought you did pay for pics like in centro commerciale kind of places. We don't have one here so no problem there.
Well nonni have gone and I feel like sh*t. I have no enthusiasm whatsoever for Christmas even our Elf - George who arrived today hasn't lifted my spirits...I know I will try to make it special for the dds..but minirosa is rather jealous of anything DD1 gets so I envisage her being brattish and driving me insane as no amout of explaining works right now on her...
To top things off just moved the sofa to rescue a pair of socks and found a huge damp patch on the wall....am not amused.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2012 20:52

Oh Rosa, here Wine

I am so sorry to hear you are feeling low, is that because your parents have left or is it just sheer exhaustion?

I am not that enthusiastic about christmas either, it is too stressful, and too much shopping. Bah|

BananaGio · 04/12/2012 21:30

sorry to hear that Rosa, it's always tough when visitors go and this is such a stressful time of year as well. have another Wine from me

MerlinScot · 06/12/2012 08:13

Hello Rosa, another Wine from me and I hope you feel that way!!

For many reasons this Christmas will be a lot more special than last year (no time to tell you everything but my mum spent Xmas day at the hospital :( ), so I'm enjoying it a lot, despite the exams!! LOL Xmas Grin
Well, I've one in one hour and a half so I need to leave.

Hope you're all dealing well with the winter. Here ground is a whole layer of ice Xmas Shock, maybe it was better getting snow than this Xmas Sad
