What cake are you planning rosa, this time?

Rosa · 18/10/2012 21:13

Minirosa wants snow white with hello kitty and cinderella..... She will probably get a princess , snow white if I can manage it. I do have some mini princess statures but so far I have only found belle and aurora the others are in hiding!!!!as for hello kitty save that for next year. HK is actually easier but I want to try and do something a bit harder. Its also San Martino on ner birthday so will have to do some biscuits as well.......

Hope it all goes well Merlin :)
And :o at minirosa's cake choices, sweet!

I finally concluded DD's winter boot hunting saga today, I found some nice ones reduced, but had to take the 37s back as too small. She is 8 and has size 38 feet, wah! It's going to be a problem soon as she'll be too big for kids styles and adult ones are mostly unsuitable, I have problems myself finding wide enough footwear here, and it's going to be the same for her.

Francagoestohollywood · 19/10/2012 08:55

Rosa, I remember that mil used to buy mini statues of princesses in the dolci aisle of Coop (dd still has the cinderella and snow white somewhere!).

Sputnik, I feel your pain re shoes, as you know, buying for ds is nearly impossible, as he refuses to go. Yesterday he admitted that his football trainers are small, but he doesn't want to go and buy another pair Hmm.

Also, when shoes get bigger, also the prize arise. I'd like to get ds something similar to those Blandstones (sp?) boots, but at 37 I'd have to pay the full price. No way.

Francagoestohollywood · 19/10/2012 08:56

37, the size. Sorry, bad english today.

Rosa · 19/10/2012 12:57

Blimey thats big, and I bet it is tough as you can't do anything out of the normal in Italy now can you ???? Sorry I have 41.5 and get in trouble finding shoes yet whjen I go to my independant shoe shop in the UK the blasted things say Made in Italy on them !!!! ... If you even get to the Uk Clarks go up to big sizes- I recall from my youth , Just had my hair done , am pleased as lady came to my house and so I probably saved about ?40 as had colpi di sole done as well.

Yes the only one in our family with easy feet is DS. DH is size 47 and always gets shoes in clarks when we go to the UK as it's rare to even see that size here. I have quite wide feet and hate being uncomfortable so lots of shoes here I find too narrow. In summer I live in Birkenstocks then transition to boots, I have no idea what to wear in between (this is my personal style problem I suppose). Anyway, I do wonder how long before DD's feet actually overtake mine! Poor girl, I hope they slow down a bit.
Speaking of DD she is at her first sleep over, hope it's going ok!

Francagoestohollywood · 20/10/2012 11:14

Oh wow first sleep over Smile!

How did it go? Hope she had a lovely time!

Shock at 47!!! There are a few shops here in Milan where they make shoes for extra small and extra large adult feet, if ever you come around here.

I would love to be able to wear elegan scarpe coi tacchi, but I've never learnt to walk in heels, plus I don't have the life style Grin. I also have large feet and I feel your pain Sput! I quite like ballerine, but they aer no good for people suffering from back ache.

Buon weekend ragazze! What are you up to? Lovely sunny day here.

Francagoestohollywood · 20/10/2012 11:15

Rosa, Envy at your hairdresser coming at yours.

MerlinScot · 21/10/2012 10:32

Franca, Sputnik and Rosa I'll post few pics then!! Thanks for your well wishes too :)

Franca, glad you're feeling better but even though it's not urgent I wouldn't rule out to have few tests done in the future, like a CAT scan.
At least you'll have more information about what causes your backache.
Ernie al disco hide for ages.... I got 3 of them after a bad car accident where I nearly died (so the permanent damage was more than acceptable!) and everything always came out with MRIs or CAT scans.

Well have a nice weekend everybody!!

Rosa · 21/10/2012 18:15

COnvinced Dh ( on the promise of heaps of wine, porchetta etc) to go to Toscana for the ponte del 1/11 - I am so happy as I have some very special people there who are like family and they have not seen the dds . Plus the nonna passed away when I was pg with minirosa so being there for all saints/ souls will be nice - for me anyway .
Today we went riding bikes in the park on the mainland - the commune provides them for free- so the dds are knackered.
Merlin not long now have you got everything prepared?

That's funny Rosa, I'll be in Toscana too then, I'm having my parents and sister over from the UK and we're staying in SIL's house. Kids are on half term so we'll have all week and are planning a halloween party. Whereabouts are you going?

Francagoestohollywood · 21/10/2012 19:45

Awww Tuscany, how lovely! It must be lovely going for walks in the gorgeous countryside in Autumn with red leaves etc. Bellissimo!

I will make an appointment with gp and see if she refers me for a risonanza magnetica.

Sputnik · 21/10/2012 21:15

I really hope so. it's only supposed to be raining half the time we're there :o
There's lots of sulphur vents round where we're going, so it should be atmospheric too.
Good luck with the doc Franca, you should stress how this has been a long term ongoing thing and you'd really like to get to the bottom of it.

Rosa · 21/10/2012 21:40

Aiming for Southern Tuscany not far from the Umbria border...... Pls no rain but it looks pretty bad right now, I just want to see the rolling hills and be able to wander round a few hill top places possibly Siena .
I have to call 3 docs in the morning !!!! Dermotologist, gynae, and paed about a top up pneumococco vaccino that they are offering to pre schools. The centro vacino is calling people and offering it. It seems alphabetical right now so I want to ask my paed if its a yes or no go. Dermo as I have a skin tag that I have been saying for years its got to go....now it has to go. I am such a wimp when it comes to things like this as I know it will hurt like buggery . Gynae no need for details there!!!!!
Dh is snoring as he is up early so better turn this off....

Ciao, ooooh lets keep fingers crossed re the weather during the morti weekend. We should be going to piedmont, if it rains it will be depressing.

Francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2012 13:20

Rosa, hope you'll be ok at the dermatologo.

spaghettina · 22/10/2012 13:21

hello everyone, just "checking in" after the usual few months' absence..
I notice there's a new "little Italian" here, MerlinScot - congratulations on your forthcoming wedding!

I'm back in Milan after spending the summer in Puglia and giving in finally to the idea of moving there. Going back at the end of the month to view a gorgeous house which we've found and hope to buy in Martina Franca.. it's all terrifying a bit scary and I'll be gutted to live Milan (and my friends here) after so many years. Everyone moans about this city but I happen to like it (Franca I think you can understand!). But it's probably the right move for DD who is now 2.5 and misses her doting Italian grandparents and huge extended family. Hopefully
life will be a little easier for us too with free babysitting on tap.

Rosa, your Tuscan holiday plans sound great. Which area are you visiting? We went there recently just for a couple of days. Ended up having lunch in a gorgeous but rather touristy restaurant in "Chiantishire" where we were the only table not speaking English, it was bizarre!

Francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2012 14:02

Ciao Spaghettina, good luck with your move to Martina Franca! Keep us posted!

(and yes, I do know, Milan is sadly under rated!)

Francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2012 14:02

Martina Franca is supposed to be a beautiful town, isn't it?

Rosa · 22/10/2012 15:57

I hope to be away from Chiantishire, further south - forecast still looks crap. Chickened out of calling the detmatologo.. I will do it domani !!!
Big move and good luck Puglia sounds lovely never been there! Hope the buy goes ok .....I bet you will get more for your money down there than in Milan !

OP posts:
spaghettina · 22/10/2012 16:18

Thanks for the good luck, I need it ;) - yes it's beautiful, as is most of Puglia ,very nice baroque centro storico, all good from that point of view! And yes, Rosa - more "bang for your buck" as house prices go for sure (although it seems Martina is expensive in local terms) - semi-central/central Milan is just out of control.

Francagoestohollywood · 22/10/2012 16:36

Ah girls, I forgot to tell you that Saturday I discovered that my fav market stall selling marvellous cheeses and prosciutti now also stocks 4 kinds of Cheddar!!! Hurrah!

Sputnik · 22/10/2012 19:34

Franca! Shock
Just getting on the plane to Milano now...
Good luck Spaghettina.

Rosa · 22/10/2012 21:07

i will trade you cheddar for some branston pickle........ Off to check trains vce - milano.....
