Germaine wrote a Country (Cuntry???) Life style column for the Saturday Telegraph for aeons which I read religiously.
It was so weird to be on the receiving end of her finger wagging re desirable country ways in deepest Essex.

She's ok but it annoys me that whenever a 'seeerius' programme requires a 'thinking woman' old GG gets wheeled out every time.

She's not the only educated woman with a point of view surely?

I like JSP too. I know waht you mean but off the top of my head I can't really think of too many women who have the combination of gravitas and humour & media appeal. Please feel free to enlighten me because I wish there were more! (especially younger women)

Oh MF is a bore.
I read her Observer column every week,`merely to check how many times she makes some sort of smug reference to herself.
She never fails to do so.

Can't remember what she was on the other day but it was about identity cards (Frank Gardner, the journalist who was shot was on too) and she did this really girlie shrug and went "ooooh, identity cards...I can't keep track of the cards I've got" and I thought WTF are you on woman?! Ther are plenty of valid reasons against ID cards but a girlie, scatter-brained "oooh but I might lose it" response is not one of them! I think she's lost the plot.

That was GG btw, not Mariella!
