I've done this before: pressed something so that when I, say, press the " key it comes out as @ and vice versa. How can I undo this? HELLP!

It's something to do with the keyboard layout isn't it (US layout instead of UK for example)? Is it under control panel?

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 15:47

Can't find control panel (sounds like those reinforced pants)...where is it?

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 15:49

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 15:52

Click start - should be one of the options there.

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 15:52

Gingerbear · 30/01/2006 15:54

Start:My Computer: Control Panel???

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 15:54

Now I can't find the sodding UK keyboard option.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 15:56

Have you got a "regional options" icon?

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 15:58

Yes. It gives me the options of changing the date and time; changing the formats of numbers, dates and/or times; and/or adding other languages.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 15:58

"regional and language".... If I click the "languages" tab on the box this brings up, I get the choice of UK English keyboard or US.

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 15:59

Sorry - "languages" then "details"

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 16:00

It's on the UK keyboard...

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 16:00

Um... In the bottom right hand corner of your screen, near the time, do you have a ittle box that says "EN"

Gingerbear · 30/01/2006 16:01

click on language tab then details button - then select UK or English keyboard - it should appear in the list underneath.

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 16:01

Yes!

OP posts:
Gingerbear · 30/01/2006 16:02

Oh..

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 16:02

If you click on it or hover over it, us is UK or US?

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 16:03

UK.

I've tried the control panel thing. It says UK.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 30/01/2006 16:03

And I continually reset the default language to English...

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 16:04

Oh ar$e... it was the only thing I could think of where you could have changed it with one accidental click!

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 16:06

I think I shall have to wait till DP brings his Y-chromosomes home...

OP posts:
Gingerbear · 30/01/2006 16:06

on the 'installed services' list, does the 'keyboard' say United Kingdom?

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 16:07

Right click the EN, choose settings, Under "preferences" click "key settings" (this is the same bit found under control panel etc BTW). Have you switched to US??
