I've done this before: pressed something so that when I, say, press the " key it comes out as @ and vice versa. How can I undo this? HELLP!

Mine seems to imply that pressing "left alt +shift" switches between input languages!

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 16:08

No, I haven't. Where is Installed Settings?

I have to say in my defence I am really quite bright on some things. Just not computers.

Have you tried looking at your keyboard options.

Start - control panel - keyboard - see what the hardware setting is.

Apparently the standard keyboard has 102 keys

arrggh, dd2 grizzly, must go and get her!

Look at my last suggestion though!

Right click the EN, choose settings, Under "preferences" click "key settings" (this is the same bit found under control panel etc BTW). Have you switched to US??

Gingerbear · 30/01/2006 16:16

When you right click on EN on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and click 'settings' the Text Services and Input Languages' box comes up. On the 'settings' tab, there are two bits - Default Input language and Installed Services. Check that the Default input lang is English (UK) - which I think you have done, then look at the list underneath - the keyboard bit should say United Kingdom.

If not, then you need to click key settings then change key sequence to undo it (I think)

just like soupy says.

(Hijack for a mo-How many free prints did you get Soupy?)

SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 16:19

About 140!

Gingerbear · 30/01/2006 16:22
  • bump it up again, it sounds like you might have hundreds more!
SoupDragon · 30/01/2006 16:23

I'm tempted (and I do still have loads of photos to print) but I feel a little guilty about doing it...

Mistymoo · 30/01/2006 16:24

Go to start - all programs - accessories - accessibility - on screen keyboard.

Then

choose keyboard and choose layout

Hope this helps.

sorry I was on the bus using my pda when I typed that have you been rescued by the y chromasomes yet or do you need more help

motherinferior · 30/01/2006 20:49

Thank you so very much; in fact Mister Why (oh WHY?) Chromosome detected something 'malicious' which now appears to have been scared away (not an actual virus - we've run all the protection scheme on it and it's clean).

Thank you so much again.
