***PRODUCT REQUEST THREAD**** especially for MNers in countries where than cannot buy the things they crave!

Thought that the MNers with English cravings (or, obviously, the other way around, eg, an Amercian Mner in Britain, craving erm.. Hershey bars or whatever they're called..).. could post their cravings/wants/needs/desires on here... and that those of us willing and able could send them a portion/pot/bundle/box/jar/bag of what they desire!

Wasn't thinking of money changing hands.. just thought we could send the items in the usual MN spirit of sisterhood.. as we do.. (eg.. I wanted to send Pip some Marmite but Hasfrau said not to.. something to do with serial killers.. .. so I won't...)

i've just looked at that link for 'tablet'........is it like proper crumbly fudge?

saltire · 25/01/2006 10:10

It's not chewy like fudge, its harder, and it does crumble. Its hard to describe Tablet to someone who's never had it. I'm not on commission for the pair that makes it, but trust me, it is fantastic.

hazlinh · 25/01/2006 10:16

anyone need anything from malaysia??

moschops · 25/01/2006 10:16

at glastonbury the fudge stall sell stuff that is just so crumbly and melts in your mouth. round here 'fudge' is that horrible chewy stuff that sticks your tongue to the top of your mouth.

just spoken to my friend on msn who informs me that tablet is what i'm after.........which is trouble because i will need to be rationed or i'll give myself sugar poisoning!!

Tablet is sort of like a cross between fudge and toffee and literally "melts" in the mouth. my Mum has a great recipe. MMMMMMM

Anyway - Peppermint Crisp from South Africa is my "difficult to get hold of" vice. I keep on foregtting to ask Mum and Dad when they go across to get some - and don't think either they or us are going to be going there this year.

It's like old fasioned Mint Cracknell, if anyoen can remember that far back.

saltire · 25/01/2006 10:38

I used to be friends ith an American who lived at Lakenhaeth, she gave me a recipe which included something called "Cheese Soup" made by Campbells. I cannot find it in this country anywhere, and have tried the recipe with orinary cheese sauce and it doesn't work.

Will learn how to do links one day!

Not cheap but seems to have a good selection from around the world.

Went in there just before chrimbo and spent a fortune!!

Albert · 25/01/2006 11:34

I would love about a ton of Cadburys chocolate (a weeks supply) but not only would it get hijack by customs here who tend to take anything remotely interesting looking, it would take about 6 months to arrive and be melted by the time it got here. I'm still waiting for my house contents shipped from Italy last October, no sign of them yet.
Marslady and Ggglimpopo, I'm still waiting, so what if it's not Venice any longer, Brazil is actually turning out OK (sort of)

jabberwocky · 25/01/2006 13:10

saltire, I have used cheese soup before. It does do a nice job in certain recipes. Will take a look at the store today to see if they have any.

CAT me.

Can't imagine anyone wanting anything from Sweden.

However I will be on the lookout for creme eggs in the coming months. {desperately trying not to think about them}

wilbur · 25/01/2006 14:20

Well, it's unikely as hell that they could possibly be posted, but if there are any Canadian Mumsnetters who can think of a way to get me a jar of Bick's Polish Dill Pickles (they say Polskie Ogorkie, or something, on the jar), I would love them forever. Ditto any American MN's who ever see Count Chocula breakfast cereal in their supermarket.

Pip · 25/01/2006 14:41
