No, not a follow-on from the Mark Oaten thread, just need distracting from work so... who is the hardeset MN-er?
Your starter for ten: I wax my own armpits and bikini line (admittedly rarely).

Root canal without anaesthetic ... and it wasn't by choice - boy did it hurt and the dentist wouldn't stop when I asked him to .

babyonboard · 24/01/2006 16:59

hehehe..
i remember in labour getting an internal (euch) and yanking the midwives hand out repeatedly as it was too much to handle and i already knew it was time to push.
also clutched onto the pipe for my life and batted her hand away from the gas and air while pushing as that was all i had and she was trying to take it away. she said it would hinder delivery but i did it in 20/30 mins whilst sucking hard on the mouth piece, heheh.
she was a very large and dominant woman too, a bit scary, so that makes me a little bit more hard right!?
not sure about the rocks for breakfast though, i prefer them with my evening meal

Feistybird · 24/01/2006 17:01

I had a mole removed FROM MY EYEBALL under local anaesthetic.

expatinscotland · 24/01/2006 17:03

I have had three major knee surgeries whilst awake - spinal anesthesia

Climbed off a cliff w/one shoulder dislocated

Hiked 2.5 miles downhill w/a concussion and a head injury that later needed 12 stitches

One child w/no pain relief

Wax my own bikini line

Blandmum · 24/01/2006 17:08

I am a total wuss when it comes to pain of any type.

However I am hard enough to separate figting, lunatic teenagers with sheer voive power! I can totaly intimidate all but the maddest, rampent teen by using what dd has called 'The quiet voice that scares people'. I am 5 foot 4, fat and very scary. Teenagers automaticaly do up their ties when they see me coming! Sucess!

I had a 2 and a half hour second stage labour, an episotomy, ventuose and forceps, 2nd degree tears and a nearly 9 pound baby, all without painkillers.

I have stopped 'ow 'ard are you conversations between big blokes in the pub with that line.

Spidermama · 25/01/2006 17:21

Four home births with no pain relief including one which came down and out OP and another which went on for three days and nights because of his massive head and his arm up in the way.
Not that it's a competition of course and all that.

Skribble · 25/01/2006 23:18

My first baby was 11lb7oz, 48 hr labour well if thats what makes you hard.

handlemecarefully · 25/01/2006 23:42

Dunno, perhaps quite 'hard' - I was all up for doing a roller coaster ride with dd when 8.5 months pregnant with ds...had to disembark (with people watching and sniggering) though because safety bar wouldn't go over my bump!

notasheep · 25/01/2006 23:46

Beat dp at arm wrestling

SleepyJess · 25/01/2006 23:47

I do NOT cry when watching Lassie and the like!

SleepyJess · 25/01/2006 23:50

Oh.. and I spoke at a Q & A session in a lecture theatre full of doctors wanting the parents perspective on cystic fibrosis. I did not have any previous knowledge of what questions would be asked.

V nearly actually poo-ed myself... .. but I did it!

Meanoldmummy · 26/01/2006 00:44

I am NAILS.

Honest.

hunkermunker · 26/01/2006 00:49

I've had two 8lb+ babies without pain relief and talked about having the next one while being stitched afterwards.

UCM · 26/01/2006 00:53

MOM, I am arrrrrd, will knock u out if you ave makeup on at the school run

Mytwopenceworth · 26/01/2006 00:55

twice as 'ard as any of you soft sacks of shite and if you want to make something out of it, i suggest you step up and try..........

Meanoldmummy · 26/01/2006 00:56

That's as maybe...but are you aarrrrd enough to approach me if I haven't got make-up on?? I doubt it. Think: Anne Widecombe with dropsy

UCM · 26/01/2006 00:58

Scared now!!!!

nightowl · 26/01/2006 01:42

im a big wuss. my ex once jumped out at me from behind a wall and what did i do? screamed and threw myself onto the floor all curled up. he never let me live that one down.

i also cry at adverts..and extreme makeover.

pebblemum · 26/01/2006 01:57

Reading yur post about dh jumping out on you made me laugh nightowl. The same thing happened to me. I had always thought I would fight back if I thought i ws going to be attacked but when I was 14 a boy I fancied chased me down a dark alley and grabbed me (i didnt know it ws him) and I just turned to jelly and collapsed in a ball screaming. Needless to say we never got together I was too embarrassed and I expect he though I was head case.

Im not always a wuss though, I never have pain relief during childbirth not even G&A, i only take pills when i am really ill, I love snakes, kill spiders myself, like watching operations on tv and stand up for my rights blah blah blah but at the same time I cry at soppy films, when I hear lovely stories esp about babies, and when my kids do something amazing like get awards.

I like to think I am a perfect balance, not too hard that im unapproachable but also not too soft that im a pushover.

nightowl · 26/01/2006 12:03

apparently i look really scary though so maybe i could pretend?! lots of people ive met say they were terrified of me before they knew me, because i look hard-faced and frowny!..then they see me with a spider in a tissue letting him outside because i cant bear to kill them (although if there is a man around i usually tease him with said spider first just to watch him run).

flutterbee · 26/01/2006 12:13

Now this might only be me but I though that if you chose to be in pain when you didn't have to be then it made you slightly mental not hard.

sparklymieow · 26/01/2006 12:14

I have a tough family does that count??
I have tattoos and piercings, I had my girls just on gas and air, and I stood up to Apeman!!
