Thought it was time to do this thread-am always thinking of ideas for new 'other subjects'thread as it's my favourite thread.

I have been a mumsnetter for it must be 4 years now and first read about it in I think an observer article.

And what's your favourite thread and why,or the thread that has been most helpful?

4 years, wow!

I think I have been on here about 7 months, could be more. I was looking for info on Gina Ford to see whether to bother with her book and found the posts on here helpful so continued to log in and now spend FAR TOO MUCH TIME on here.

fio2 · 11/11/2003 14:32

I have been a m'netter since about april I think. Someone else mentioned it on another site I was browsing.

M2T · 11/11/2003 14:37

I discovered it using MSN Search. I put in Postnatal Depression...... and voila!

That was a year ago!!! WOW!

Don't have a favourite thread. Loads have helped me, some have upset me, even more have made me laugh despite my PND.

I was once described as one of the more 'prolific posters'.... not so much now.

SoupDragon · 11/11/2003 14:37

I popped in about 20 months ago to quickly check out the site for my NCT newsletter co-editor and never left.

Jemma7 · 11/11/2003 14:39

Have been here since around April time too!

DP & I had decided to try for a baby and i was on the internet looking for sites on pregnancy - came accross mumsnet and got hooked instantly!

Favourite thread must've been the "MY DP has bought me a rabbit (Not the furry kind)" Was hysterical

I have been on here for a few months now. I was previously on another site, but needed a change. My productivity at work is suffering, but I am getting so much great advise and I am really addicted

Blu · 11/11/2003 14:40

Since August. Read about it in the Guardian, I think, much earlier in the year and thought 'sad bs, spending all their time on the internet', then I searched Google for information on Piedro Boots when DS was prescribed them, and a MN thread came up. Then in August, had a problem and wanted to seek advice outside the family and decided to try MN.

Am now a fully qualified Sad b***d.

jessi · 11/11/2003 14:41

Another old timer here, coming up to 4 years as ds was a few months old when I first saw it (recommended by an article my mum read) However, took ages before I posted,I was too scared!
My favourite thread is the one 'Things children say'-think thats what its called anyway. Makes me laugh! The most helpful was a breastfeeding one, when Mears really helped me keep some sanity going when I was struggling.

handlemecarefully · 11/11/2003 14:43

A real newbie - just a few weeks now, but have become drawn in and addicted already.

Too soon to say what is my favourite thread - lots have been very useful already. Was quite upset by the recent smacking thread though. Will be avoiding that subject in future!

Discovered mumsnet by accident - must have put some sort of trigger word in the search engine.

M2T · 11/11/2003 14:46

The funniest thread I have ever seen was the "It was late, I was tired and my stockings were ripped...." thread!! Find it and read it from the bottom.... HILARIOUS!

The Yurt was good too.

sykes · 11/11/2003 14:48

About a year or so ago via babygoes2 web site. Was posting originally on what it's like to be a SAHM as was considering working as a freelancer part time - when with H. Now post most often on HELP ME PLEASE. And people do so much. Can't believe the time I spend browsing. Love any threads where you can see how people benefit from suppport.

salt · 11/11/2003 14:50

I've been knocking around for a few months now I guess, but had a different name for a while. Got addicted immediately.

Don't have a favourite thread, I find it hard to keep up as it can be days between my visits.

fio2 · 11/11/2003 14:51

The toys NOT to buy for christmas is the funniest I have read in ages

vala · 11/11/2003 14:54

Newby?since about June.
Google search looking for salt content in Heinz macaroni cheese. DS seemed to be getting rather a lot if it from his child minder at the time and was a little concerned about how much salt may be in it. (never found the answer)
Anyway, a thread about introducing milk supplements came up which contained a few recommendations for macaroni cheese and I?ve been hooked ever since.

Best threads: Loved the ?Things children say?, especially the pilot bit.
MMR dilemma threads. Lots of useful information. Still undecided, but as DS has had one cold/ear infection after another for the past 2 months; I have been able to avoid it. (head in sand)

Hughsie · 11/11/2003 14:55

I cant remember how long I've been on it now - must be about two years I think after a friend recommended it to me. I love reading the funny threads but sometimes just observe as I cant seem to sit on it for long - like to drift in and out really - Factual threads are fantastic and I love the support of other mums and the experts like pupuce and mears who seem to lovely and have helped me out on a few subjects.

Have been browsing for a while but not posting much until the last couple of months. Lots of good info on b/f and other health/allergies stuff initially, and now I just like reading all the supportive stuff which makes me feel that the world is a hopeful place filled with lovely people (I'm a bit low at the mo). Plus, I think everyone is really funny, much funnier than the papers or magazines.

I came here after doing a search on how to set up a babysitting circle, so I think via the Sitters site. I think I've been here about 2 years and am, like Blu, fully qualified sad b

Furball · 11/11/2003 15:43

Internet search for parent sites, I think, about 2 years, but only 'plucked up courage' to post about a year ago. Now hooked and get quite peeved if I have to miss the occassional day. I really don't know what I would have done if I hadn't of found you lot, gone mad probably. Life as a SAHM can be lonely sometimes.

lou33 · 11/11/2003 15:57
