Thought it was time to do this thread-am always thinking of ideas for new 'other subjects'thread as it's my favourite thread.

I have been a mumsnetter for it must be 4 years now and first read about it in I think an observer article.

It's weird, some of you say you've only been here a few months, but it seems like you've been here forever (I mean that in a nice way!)

I still feel like a bit of a newbie...

Lou33 · 11/12/2003 23:41

I've been here years.

anais · 12/12/2003 00:18

How long has Mumsnet actually been in existence??

musica · 12/12/2003 00:19

I've been here a year and a half - found out about it from a friend, although don't think they use talk - hope not!

Forestfly · 12/12/2003 00:20

I found my new love in may, probably is the reason for everything, yes lets sue mumsnet

lyndsey66 · 12/12/2003 00:23

I have been a mumsnetter for 2 days now!! Found out about it from a Mother/baby mag.
Still not sure 100% what dd, dh or any of the other shortend initials mean! But love this website.
Have found out more in 2 days on this website than I have from reading 6 mother/baby books and doing a child development course! Thanks

Forestfly · 12/12/2003 00:25

You won't leave, i was just taking the piss and having a look at parent sites, now i love mumsnet (don't tell people)

lyndsey66 · 12/12/2003 00:36

Lou33 · 12/12/2003 09:14

Doing a search for double buggies in the hope that I might change DH's mind to try for a 3rd. 'Find the best' came up on search.

DS3 in now 11 weeks old so the search wasn't totally pointless. And I did buy one of the buggies featured on here.

I don't think I've missed my daily fix in all that time, well maybe a few but I've got a lovely little reason for that sitting here on my lap

M2T · 12/12/2003 09:40

Twiglett - What were they saying to slag off Mumsnet???

(she asks in sheer horror and disbelief)

zebra · 12/12/2003 09:58

18 months; confused, thought it was netmums (boy can I be dumb); My all-time fave single thread was Different Practices in Different Countries .

I've been here since September I think....great fun love most of the postings, just because I'm very..er..nosey..I spent alot of time with children only as mine were growing up, not a lot of contact with adults, so when I gave up childminding found I had time to spare, DH bought computer and vola..here I am in the Adult world again.. Think I found this site by accident..

kando · 12/12/2003 11:05

I used to browse on UKP and saw it was mentioned on there so thought I'd have a look, and have been lurking around for about 2/2.5 years now. I hardly ever post though, like to just check in a lot! Was Katmam to start with but had another dd so changed name. Favourite threads are "things kids say" and ones like that. Spend far too much time on this site!!

I came across it on an msn search. I think I was looking for something obscure like 'washing machine'. It picked up a link to a thread.

I've been here since DD was 9 or 10 months old, so that's around 8 or 9 months now. Over that time I've had around 4 name changes .

dejags · 12/12/2003 13:19

had to do a search on my postings to see how long I have been on mumsnet. First posting was in July 02 but I had been lurking a while before that... so about 18months I guess. I also found mumsnet by doing a search on something (Gina Ford) I think.

motherinferior · 12/12/2003 20:26

I came via a Guardian article, and popped in just to have a look - must have been around April. Then I lurked for a week or two. Then I posted on a thread about maternity clothes. Then I asked about what people thought about gas and air because I was contemplating a home birth.

My favourite thread is the one where I went into labour (Signs of labour starting soon?)!

charlize · 12/12/2003 21:14

Ive been lurking and posting on mumsnet for nearly 4 yrs now. Since I was last pregnant.
I found the site by doing a search for parenting sites. Over the yrs I've had about 4 differnt names but sometimes I'll go weeks without posting and I have been known to forget my password.

tanzie · 12/12/2003 22:56

Found it looking for something a few weeks ago. Wish I had known about it when I was living in London away from DH who was working in Central Europe 3 years ago, when I came back to UK to have DD2. Think it would have helped in a difficult time. But not sure how much attention the kids would have got!

ponygirl · 12/12/2003 23:14

I'm a very newby. Found the site a couple of weeks ago after remembering an article in the Observer I think from way back which I'd never got round to checking up on (it takes a while for me). Became hooked immediately but only broke my posting cherry today. Feel like new girl in playground...
