Tell me about it ..... and I'm 41 !!!!

MrsSpoon · 13/01/2006 23:20

Can sympathise Bomper, I've been suffering from zits on my chin since being pg with DS2.

Bomper · 13/01/2006 23:22

I have got a MEGA zit on my chin at the mo. Was almost too ashamed to be seen in public with it!!! I should be worrying about getting wrinkles at my ages not spots!!

I look like a pizza

I hate it but nothing seems to work.

marthamoo · 13/01/2006 23:26

I try and tell myself that having oily skin means I'll have fewer wrinkles. Mmmm...only problem is I have spots and wrinkles, which seems totally unfair.

georginars · 13/01/2006 23:28

I have just been moaning about this today - at the moment I have the skin of a teenager

Mirage · 13/01/2006 23:31

Me too,I'm 37 & have more zits than I did years ago.My skin has never been great, but since having dd2,seems to have really gone to pot.

I've been religiously cleansing,toning & moisterizing,but it seems to be getting worse,not better.I don't understand it.

marthamoo · 13/01/2006 23:32

Mine has been worse since having children than it ever was when I was a teenager. I understand why it goes haywire in pregnancy/just afterwards as your hormones are all over the place - but my youngest is 4 now, surely it should have calmed down a bit?

Meanoldmummy · 13/01/2006 23:32

I have spots and wrinkles too...disgusting! I won't let DH look at me face close-up after I've washed my make-up off....it looks like someone's left a plate of corned beef to dry out under a radiator

expatinscotland · 13/01/2006 23:34

I use Proactiv. Worth every penny, too.

Meanoldmummy · 13/01/2006 23:35

Is it for the zits or the wrinkles?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/01/2006 23:35

I started getting spots in my twenties (as a teenager at school people always complemented me on my good skin)

I had low dose antibiotics prescribed and they helped whilst taking them but they crept back.

The only product i have found that helped was some stuff called ProActiv - its brilliant. Mine had all but gone within 2 weeks.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/01/2006 23:36

x posts expat - i believe we've both had this discussion before too how are you feeling now btw?

Meanoldmummy · 13/01/2006 23:36

Any idea why they happened in your twenties VVV? Same thing has happened to me and it's grim!!

expatinscotland · 13/01/2006 23:40

Hiya Vicki! I'm not doing to well just now - bad PND. But that's another story . End hijack.

I NEVER had spots until I was 28 and went off the Pill after 10 years on it.

Then it was full on cystic acne.

Still had spots after going off the Pill again to conceive DD2, but not as bad - was using ProActiv the entire time.

Same story again postpartum from DD2.

I use Oil of Olay REgenerist for wrinkles and it's the business.

totallyfloaty35 · 13/01/2006 23:40

hello..i came off the pill a year ago and my skin just went crazy, i have so many spots and they are so big,my dd points them out to everyone,"oh mums got her hand on her chin to hide her spots, they're huge,go on mum show my teacher" im 35,i was expecting wrinkles not acne

Caligula · 13/01/2006 23:42

I've had worse skin than I've ever had in my life. Hormones, stress, lack of sleep, or quinoa?

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 13/01/2006 23:43

Where can I get proactive - is it expensive?

marthamoo · 13/01/2006 23:43

Not quinoa. Never touch the stuff

Meanoldmummy · 13/01/2006 23:43

Surely quinoa can't give you spots as well as everything else?

I bet it would be great for exfoliating though

bossykate · 13/01/2006 23:48

for anyone with cystic acne who thinks their family is complete or least is absolutely sure they won't want to conceive for a while - roaccutane is the business. magic cure - i do not exaggerate.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/01/2006 23:48

I was told by GP it was delayed teenage spots because of regular prescribing of antibiotics as a child for this and that.

georginars · 13/01/2006 23:50

the moment I put something suitably strong on my spots, it makes my skin go dry and flaky - which looks vile, along with the spots and the beginnings of wrinkles, and the freckles....also makes it very hard to put on the requisite amount of makeup to cover the whole damn mess up.
Will have to get pregnant again - after the first few months, my skin was fabulous, and most of the time I breastfed as well. As soon as my periods came back, so did the blinking spots

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/01/2006 00:02

And, expat - i saw your PND thread hope you feel better soon.

Caligula · 14/01/2006 09:07

So roaccutane - is this a prescription drug or is it available otc?
