is the email is thru paypal? or came directly to your email?

Are you sure it's from paypal?? Go into paypal using their webpage not a link on the email and check.

Don't click on any links in the message, or reply. Almost certainly a scam. Go to Paypal independently and see if there are any problems.

forward the email to [email protected]. Paypal will verify whether or not the email is genuine and you should be able to go from there

yeah go to paypal but not through the email you have recieved see if you can still log in with your normal email, if not then i suggest you call your bank & let them know!

NEVER, EVER CLICK ON PAYPAL OR EBAY LINKS ON SUSPICIOUS EMAILS !!!! You may well have just given a spammer your details (which means they will have access to the financial details on Paypal - your bank/credit card details).

try & go to paypal through www.paypal.co.uk & change your details asap

Don't type in any details- if you have already call your credit card and get it stopped, or call your bank and let them know.

I would go to paypal and change your password quick i think it will be litterally a matter of mins before they will be in your paypal account.

They wont let me do anything as the account uses dhs credit card. Have changed password and they have restricted the account

DH needs to cancel his card and let them know that the security has been compromised, so the card may be used for fraudulent purchases.

It says that all outstanding payments and transactions will be cancelled. Paypal says the last transaction was one made 2 nights ago which i varified.

Now the account is closed, do I still need to contact dhs bank? He is at work until tomorrow, does it need to be done now?

What are the chances of anyone having used the account/card?

yes you still need to contact the bank - his bank details would have been available on Paypal - so they could still try and make transactions without using paypal.

just a reminder to anyone that e-bay and paypal aalways address e-mails to you using your name so if you get any that just dive straight into the topic or start with dear paypal user (or similar) do not click on any links - contact the spoof people at e-bay/paypal.

Yes, you need to contact them- I doubt if they ever had any intention of spending money via Paypal, they are just after the card details which they can use anywhere. Poor you.

They will need to speak to the account holder.

Just contacted the CC people and have blocked the card from being used. They said they will send a new one with new details and I should cut this one up.

They couldnt give me any account info as Its his card not mine but he can phone for that tomorrow, the main thing is the card cant be used.

So much for my late night shopping!

Am glad it only had our CC details on there and not our bank account.

How do they get all the card details though, cause when i log into my paypal it only has a few digits of my card details then has * instead of all the numbers?

Just had an email from spoof@paypal confirming it was a fake email. Hopefully I have done all i can to stop thm getting dh's details. Fingers crossed!

I had a spoof mail from paypal before christmas!
You need to forward it to paypal and they report it. You know its not from paypal if it is addressed to Dear Paypal member
