I need a Job.....................

Beetrootfultoyourself · 03/01/2006 16:55

As some of yo know, I work in the theatre. Since leaving LOndon things have not been easy. My job does not exsist outside LOndon. I have done a few jobs up there but it does mean being away from the family for 8/10 weeks.

I trained as a Drama Teacher but have never taught. I am thinking that perhaps I need to start thinking about teaching. Even just doing some supply.

I need a job for my sanity.
I could do with the money.

I am not sure what else I coudl do.....and I am feeling rather shite and bored.

help???? Any Ideas????

No.

But i need one too so will be watching your thread with interest.

Is it worth going to a supply teaching agency and talking to them?

Could you work for something like stagecoach?

Or in adult education maybe?

SueW · 03/01/2006 16:58

Set up your own drama classes? Take on a Stagecoach thing (are they franchise?) I would have thought something like that would go down a storm - they are always busy round here.

Do you want to do term-time only? Would you offer holiday workshops? E.g. DD's school often has a one-week drama workshop in the hols where the children spend a week putting together a performance for the parents which they do on Friday.

(I need one too )

OK. I am not that inspired by drmama work shops for kids. or stage coach. With lots of little darlings. Term time would be prefrable as I have four kids and a dh who works shite hours these days.

At present my 'job' means I pick and chose shows that fit around everyone else. But these are fewer an fewer.

Adult education would be wodnerful.

Suply perhaps mihgt get me back intot he 'area'

Not sure ifit's your thing, a friend of mine was/is a performing arts teacher, and has decided not to go back after her 3rd child, at least not yet.

so she has started a music workshop for kids, she does 2 classes at the moment, but hopes to build up to more. She has aklso considered dance/movement classes. In the holidays she is thinking about running week long classes for kids, a mix of music and damce.

So far she is holding her classes in her local hall, she is fullybooked and loves it!

I'll employ you both to run drama and creative writing workshops for our local mental health unit if you like

spacedonkey · 03/01/2006 17:12

I'm guessing permanent jobs in local theatres are hard to come by ... ?

Beetrootfultoyourself · 03/01/2006 17:15
