grrrrrrrrr soo angry. Ordered shopping last week to be delivered today as am going into hospital to be induced tommorow so wanted to make sure ds and my sister had food in. According to my online statement the money is there but asda are getting my card knocked back. I have no other way of paying at all and am now stuck without food. We dont even have much milk/bread nevermind anything else. Am soo bloody annoyed but nothing I can do about it.

Can you ring the bank and Asda?

followthestarlover · 14/12/2005 11:49

have you got a new one? are there any cheques that have gone out but aren't showing up yet?
have you called the bank and asked them?

Nemoinapeartree · 14/12/2005 11:50

asda have phoned me as was supposed to be getting delivered between 11-1pm. Cant get through to bank. Feel like crying..although hormones arent helping.

Gosh - they should have rung you about it.

I had my card declined by Waitrose the other week - they phoned me and it transpired that as I hadn't ordered on line for a while they had my old (expired) card details. Was able to give them the updated information and my shopping arrived.

munz · 14/12/2005 11:51

any number of reasons nemo - either the exp date is wrong, or the security code is wrong. what's the avaliable balance you have - does that cover it?

followthestarlover · 14/12/2005 11:52

how many times havve they tried it? we sometimes have trouble at work because the credit card system is overloaded.
sometimes trying it again in a minute or so works..

munz · 14/12/2005 11:52

we've had cases in work where it's been out machine having a funny 5 minutes, and when we re try it in the afternoon all's fine.

LizzylouDonkey · 14/12/2005 11:52

My card was declined recently by Virgin mobile as the card they had on record was my old one, I had since been sent a new Chip and Pin one....could that be it?

Nemoinapeartree · 14/12/2005 11:53

they just checked the card details and it is all right. I have £70 available according to online statement which is usually pretty accurate and shopping is £56

OP posts:
followthestarlover · 14/12/2005 11:54

do you have any cheques or direct debits or anything like that going out?

munz · 14/12/2005 11:54

get them to re try the card again.

Nemoinapeartree · 14/12/2005 11:56

no cheques etc that I know off. The only other thing I can do is go to the store and do a shop with cheque. Not really what I want to do at the min especially with a stroppy toddler.

nemo if they have all the stuff there can you not just go and pay and pick it up? you shouldn't have to do an entire shop surely?

would they be willing to pick up a cheque from you when they deliver?

Blondeinlondon · 14/12/2005 12:02

Sometimes it will just be a random check and the retailer is supposed to tell you to call the bank
Unfortunately the retailers often can't be bothered and just tell you it's been declined and ask for another card

Keep trying your bank

Nemoinapeartree · 14/12/2005 12:03

Do you think they would do that????????? Either deliver it or let me pick it up already done?

Just phoned DH crying so he said if not he will go tonight when he gets home but he isnt home from work till 9pm and we have to be at hospital for 7.30am tommorow so feel really bad.

OP posts:
followthestarlover · 14/12/2005 12:04

i am sure they would let you pick it up nemo! otherwise they have to put it all back on the shelves!
ring them now and ask them

munz · 14/12/2005 12:04

surely they'll let u pick it up - otherwise they'll have to put it back won't they?

incognitomumsnetter · 14/12/2005 12:07

mum was saying her friend had the card declinded for no other reason than it's close to xmas and due tot eh value they declined it online she rang the bank and they said OK it's fine now we know it's u usin the card.

mums card was declined as well with mothercare - turned out was cos it was first online shop and the value was large. mothercare still rang her after ti was approved.

Nemoinapeartree · 14/12/2005 12:13

munz im just wondering if it is anything to do with that IVA thing as that was all starting to go through this week. Surely they cant just freeze my account though????????

OP posts:
followthestarlover · 14/12/2005 12:15

what's an IVA?

it could be if you have been spending more than normal on the card...it;s a security measure

munz · 14/12/2005 12:16

no no honey don't worry during our IVA we still have full access to all funds in our current account - unless of course u owe ur bank money - then i'm not sure as we bank with a completly independant place than our debts - they freeze ur credit thou so u can't get any more - as we've just found out (wanted a second bank account - one bills one for spending money) anyhow that shouldn't be a prob.
