I got burgled today

Tis true, they broke in through a downstairs window, trashed lots of drawers and cupboards and stole......40 Euros, that's it, nothing else.

They somehow managed to mess up the burglar alarm, so have had police, glazier and burglar alarm man here during this evening.

Who needs it?

Think I'll move to a crime-free zone, anyone know of one?

Blondeinlondon · 12/12/2005 23:43

Hey look on the brightside at least you didn't get to meet them

RTKangaSantaMummy · 13/12/2005 00:09

poor you

They didn't get any papers though did they that have addresses or names on to take your ID?

Mincepiedermama · 13/12/2005 00:12

Oh no Cam!
I'm so sorry.
What a horrible feeling for you.

StarofBethleCam · 13/12/2005 17:38

I'm fine, from the size of the muddy trainer prints left on the carpet I think it was a young teenager (or two)

I live on the South Coast, Jahn, in a crime hotspot

Seems they were only interested in the readies (presumably for a fix?) and as I don't keep cash in the house they weren't very lucky (only had the Euros left over from last day trip to France).

Oh Cam, how awful. Thank goodness they didn't take much. I got burgled when I was a student and they went through my underwear drawer looking for jewellery (found some too ) - I felt violated

walkinginawinterBundleland · 13/12/2005 17:46

oh cam how awful. I'm glad you're ok though, x

Hulababy · 13/12/2005 17:57

How horrible for you. Hope you are all okay and managing to get straighten up a bit. Don't allow the scumbags to spoil your Christmas.

We were burgled a few years back between Criistmas and New Yearm during the day when out shopping. They managed to get a remote control, but left thick muddy prints all over. Also quite small - so probably teenager too. And disturbingly one of DH's glof clubs was left next to friont foor. My parents had a Vax cleaner which luckily cleaned it up. But it is really disturbing and horrible - invasion of privacy.

Take care.

desperatehousewife · 13/12/2005 18:00

Oh Cam, I'm so sorry - it's a horrible violation of your personal space (sorry, sounds wanky). Hateful.

Hope you are ok. Glad they didnt' get anything. B'stards.

x

LadySherlockofLGJ · 13/12/2005 18:05

NomDePlumPudding · 14/12/2005 13:40

Oh bum, Cam. How awful. Please check that all your papers etc are in tact and keep an extra close eye on anything credit-wise in your name, too. You never know what they've picked up on their 'visit'

snowfalls · 14/12/2005 13:44

Do you have Christmas presents hid away? if so Have you checked they are still there?

bosscatsroastingonanopenfire · 14/12/2005 13:47

little gits. I know someone who came back from xmas shopping with her kids to find the burglar passed out under the christmas tree. he had broken in p'd as a fart, thrown up over all the presents and sofas and passed out. he got community service can you believe.

wessexgirl · 14/12/2005 14:00

Pathetic kids, cam, hope they are too young to use a bureau de change too .

My mum had a break-in - all that was taken was her purse. The kid(s) responsible took the twenty pound note and then threw it over the wall of a nearby school - with bank cards & everything still inside.

Perhaps it was the same person, cam - we're on the S. Coast too...

wessexgirl · 14/12/2005 14:00

(it was the purse they threw over the wall, not the £20)

Thanks for these messages, they're really cheering me up. Sherlock, by law burglar alarms have to switch themselves off for noise after 20 minutes, leaving only a flashing light outside. Nowadays who responds? Also we're detached in an acre of garden so a good target.

They obviously keyed in random numbers to try to stop the noise straightaway which can't be done but after several wrong attempts it needs an engineer to re-set it.

The police suggest we get it connected to the station.

My mum and stepdad were burgled, while they were in bed (sleeping) on of the neighbours saw and called the police.

The police did'nt even wake them up to tell them, they called them in the morning instead (like your not going to notice when you wake up)

POLICE ; just calling to say you were burgled last night
Stepdad ; No shit sherlock

Tortington · 14/12/2005 20:25
