Ordered it and some accessories about 2 weeks ago, the accessories arrived really quickly but the castle still hasn't arrived, so I called them today and they have confirmed that the couriers they use have it listed as a missing item.

ELC accept liability and have offerred me a refund but I really want the castle for ds for Christmas and they've sold out They tried calling my 4 nearest stores but they have sold out too.

Am waiting for a manager to call me back as I am very cross

Am thinking I will ask them to call ever ELC until they locate me one. What do you reckon?

OK. Just called my local elc and spoke to a really helpful lady. She confirmed that they don't have any but she looked on her system for me and said that Bradford, scarborough, and Wakefield have some. She is calling elc direct on my behalf to get this sorted out. She said that they are having loads of complaints about elc direct.

They didn't happen to just find one at head office did they ??

Hulababy · 12/12/2005 17:58

Glad you have some success!

gingernut · 12/12/2005 18:00

Well, that's good news. What a palaver though!

I'm feeling now because I've just had an e-mail from Amazon saying something I've ordered won't arrive in time and if I want the rest of my stuff I've got to cancel that part my order grrrrrrrr. Appalling IMO that they won't just send the rest of the stuff in time for Christmas and give me the option of taking delivery of the last item separately. I've found the item in stock on another site but that's not the point (esp since I'll have to pay P&P twice).

northerner · 12/12/2005 18:52

Didn't as LadySherlock how they came to find it, he just said he had one there.

Convenient hey?

Is it there yet ?? A variation on the one the children use.

LIZS · 13/12/2005 10:08

Do check the ones which turn up carefully, in case they were pre-production "samples" which Head Office hold rather than the real Mc Coy - also in case any bits have gone missing. Can't believe they have been so crap. If this had happened when I worked in Retail Distribution heads would roll.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2005 11:37

No it's not there LGJ - surely it's in Rochdale?

northerner · 13/12/2005 12:07

Am at work today so not sure, but I doubt it. They said they would despatch it today so will prob arrive tomorrow.

Will let you know how many vouchers they have sent me when they arrive!

Thanks for the tip about the sample Liz. Will def check.

Lizs

How will I know if it is a sample ??

LIZS · 13/12/2005 13:03

A sample is sometimes used for display purposes in range presentations among Head Office staff and to store staff.

A real prototype sample would probably have a manufacturer's sticker on it with handwritten ref numbers/description and perhaps not be as well finished or details such as paint colour may differ from the original. It would probably not be in the normal packaging either. These are not for public resale and usually get given to charities or sold to staff when they get discontinued.

If it is in the usual box, check if box has been opened /packaging displaced etc in case it is a stock model which has been taken out for display and may have got scratched or pieces lost. Sometimes they would keep a boxed one in the offices anyway so hopefully it would be one of those and is fine.

northerner , any news ?

LadySherlockofLGJ · 14/12/2005 15:47

Come on woman don't keep us in suspenders

northerner · 14/12/2005 21:01

Sorry! was v busy at work today so didn't get get much chance to Mumsnet. Grrr.

Anyway, arrived home just as a delivery van was pulling up. Though box looked suspicially too small to be a castle. Turned out to be a bloomon pirate ship accessory set. Yep, the order I cancelled after discovering there were actually some castles available. Anyway, there is also a note from another delivery company so I reckon that is the castle.

So girls, do I keep the pirate accessories or what cause I haven't paid for them
