I Am Terrified

Just had a frantic phone call from BIL's girlfriend (my best mate). BIL was walking his dog (a Rotti) and a van full of blokes pulled up, smacked BIL over the head with something, he fell over and they have taken his dog.

We know who it is - BIL has got involved in some dodgy things in the past and 3 months or so ago there were some pretty nasty threats going around then things died down, now this has happened.

The person who will have instigated the whole thing wasn't the one who jumped out of the van but he is the one thats been throwing the threats around. BIL has his number but now he wont answer his phone.
Now DP, BIL, other BIL and best mates 2 brothers have all gone out looking for them to try and get their dog back. This has just got trouble written all over it and ha done for a long time, although we have tried not to get involved, this is DP's family, he is not just ging to sit back and let anything bad happen.

Don;t get me wrong DP and BIL's aren't The Krays or anything but I wouldn't like to cross them and not many people around here would.
Have now found out MIL went out looking for the dog and now no-one can get hold of her.

For Fucks Sake. They have 3 kids and these people now know where they live!!!

Nothing useful to add, just hope they come home safe, with or without the dog.

crimbocrazydazy · 06/12/2005 22:15

Oh no, hope he comes home safely Springchicken. Whereabouts do you live? It can be like that around here sometimes too.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:16

Luton of all places.
See why it's got trouble written all over it ?

Like something out of a book!

But I know you must be terrified.

Hope all is OK.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:17

Tis Budababe - If only it was a book or a film.
Knew this day would come - has been boiling for a long time now and now there are so many people involved and kids too. That's just not on

misdee · 06/12/2005 22:18

oh gawd, luton is nasty (sorry but it is). let us know whats happening.

SackAche · 06/12/2005 22:18

Whoa SpringChick! Is your surname Mitchell??

Sorry... shouldn't be flippant. But I take it the police are out the question?

By the sounds of it they can look after themselves..... doesn't stop you worrying though.

DH has some mates in Liverpool that are "a little bit whoa, little bit wahey"... I hate it if he's out with them alone. It's only happened twice and thankfully theyve stayed out of trouble..... as far as I know (or want to know).

Hope they get the dog back safe!

doormat · 06/12/2005 22:19

hope everything turns out ok springchick

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:19

Don't I know it Misdee and so are these people. I am so scared, these people don't think twice about carry knives and guns - its an every day thing for them and wouldn't think twice about using them either.

OP posts:
SackAche · 06/12/2005 22:19

Aw and kids too..... you don't think they'll go round to this persons house and kick off whilst their kids are there do you???? >worried

misdee · 06/12/2005 22:20

will keep my fingers crossed.

i hate just driving through luton, give me safe welwyn any day.

hope everything works out fine.

i take it the dog is a softy?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:21

The things is SackAche if it weren't so serious they could be the Mitchells, I even have the MIL who is just like Peggy.

Sorry for the fast responses, just need to keep myself occupied.

BIL and girlfriend have moved since this all started because these people knew where they lived and threatened to come in in the middle of the night and said that they didn't care that their kids would be there etc.

Why on earth didnt anyone phone the police and report the theft of the dog and the assault on your BIL?????

misdee · 06/12/2005 22:23

oh jayzmummy, some people you dont bother the police with.

SackAche · 06/12/2005 22:23

OMG SC - This is alot more serious than I first read..... really sorry for being flippant. I didn't mean to play it down.

Can you get in touch with your BIL just now? Are you safe from all this???

How are you related... I mean is it your DH's brother?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:24

They are not nice people and have been to prison for this type of thing before and it makes no difference, if they are inside, they just get someone else to do their dirty work.
DP and BIL have had many many offers of help from some pretty nasty characters around here but have never done anything about it - Now this has happened it is going to turn into a war, even if he asks them not to do anything some people wont take kindly to BIL being treated like this

JayzMummysATurkeyStuffer · 06/12/2005 22:24

Suppose I am living my life in a rose tinted bubble down here in the south west

SackAche · 06/12/2005 22:24

Does your DP have a knife or anything like that????

panicking emoticon<

Can you phone your DP and tell him to get the hell back to your house and stay out of it????

I know thats easy to say.... men and their fucking misplaced loyalties!

misdee · 06/12/2005 22:26

quite possibly jaysmummy

luton is not a nice place, it has a bad rep for a reason. sad really.

i used to know quite a few people on the london club scene, again not people you mess with. always good to have them on side.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:28

Luckily we moved in January so they don't know where we live now but I would put money on them being sat outside my old house right now.

I can't sackache, as much as I just want him here with me and DD and away from it all, I would do the same for any memeber of my family and if it wasn't for DD I would probably be at BIL's house trying to look after best mate and kids.

Police Defo not an option i'm afraid.

OP posts:
doormat · 06/12/2005 22:29

sc is there anyone you can call, ie local pub that dh frequents and put word around that there could be bother tonight

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:30

Although saying that I am gettng quite nervous. I don't actually know that they don't know where we live.
They know how close DP and BIL (DP's brother) are so they know that whatever BIL is doing, DP is right there next to him.

He does have a knife yes SA but I have hidden it away in the loft since we moved as it petrifies me just the thought of it being around.

OP posts:
SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:31

75% of them will already know Doormat, it's like that around here. This is alot of what scares me though, it is going to turn so huge and get waaaaaay out of hand.

MIL is back home now - DP is raging that his Mum was out walking the streets at this time of night

OP posts:
JayzMummysATurkeyStuffer · 06/12/2005 22:34

OMG...hope things get sorted and your DH is home safe and well, very soon.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 06/12/2005 22:34

DP's late dad was extremely well known and face that not many people messed with around here too - So many people could potentially get involved, mostly helping out BIL but these people are big time
