And it makes me so

Why do they do it?

GAM - No, but I'm always shocked that out of perhaps 50 guys I work with, I bet 35 would at least snog someone on a work night out.... perhaps HALF of them would/or have slept with someone else.

Skribble · 17/11/2005 16:15

Apparently apart from the endless drinking he sleeps the rest of the time.

motherinferior · 17/11/2005 16:15

I don't think my partner is, but as I say in my single days I was quite surprised by the number of married/attached friends who propositioned me. I'd naively assumed that fidelity was the norm, before that.

But having said that I don't think all men are at it like rabbits. And frankly I think DP couldn't be arsed with all the chatting-up stuff - you know, the bit where you have to pretend to be interested before you suggest a cup of 'coffee'...

mommie · 17/11/2005 16:17

mine would rather talk/watch cricket

GREATauntymandy · 17/11/2005 16:20

although it is niaeve(sp) to think that you are safe. I was an ordinary housewife.........

Skribble · 17/11/2005 16:20

Wonder if he worries the same when I am away . Maybe he thinks poor soul she is so exausted from the 16hr shifts.

bran · 17/11/2005 16:33

Just had a LOL at the "Dalia Lama" .

I've also been surprised at how many men play away from home. When dh was living abroad and I was in London he was working with a large team of expats, mostly men, and lots of them either had affairs or visited prostitutes even though they considered themselves happily married. I could never really get my head around why they did it, quite a few of them I met their wives and there was no doubt that they loved their wives very much and had happy marriages and they were kind and thoughtful husbands. Hmmm.

whilst we're on the subject lots of men and women have affairs at work you don't even have to be away overnight to cheat you know.

DaddyCoolNippingAtYourNose · 17/11/2005 16:45

yup kama. respect for ones self and respect for your partner. it really sh*ts on your partner to do this and even if your relationship isn't going that well, its just a complete kick in the face.

weak and tacky.

moondog · 17/11/2005 16:52

My dh works a lot in Eastern Europe and invariably has prostitutes banging on his door and phoning him up.
It was pointed out to him yesterday, that out of the gang doing his work,he is the only one who isn't married to a Natasha/Svetlana/Oksana half his age and working his backside off to keep up the payments to his ex wife back in the UK.

He wouldn't ever run off (love that expression 'run off') with a Bulgarian interpreter-he knows how much it would all cost and is far too...cautious with his money shall we say...

Blandmum · 17/11/2005 17:02

I don't think you can complain moondog, given the oppertunity you offered to the Rotary yesterday

Ych Y fi! (sp???)

motherinferior · 17/11/2005 17:03

Oooh, moondog, spill!

Blandmum · 17/11/2005 17:07

I refer my learned collegue to

i was Blush

stumpweasel · 17/11/2005 17:13

Inadvertently caused huge row between (admittedly barking) girlfriend & her director boyf for whom I was working... she kept him up till 5am saying how disgusting men were for shagging around; it's rife in the industry I work in, esp when away on location and even with those you think wouldn't.

Can't even imagine doing such a thing now, revealing to someone else all that spare flesh left over from 2 babies (sounds delightful doesn't it) and it has it's own momentum too... hooray for fidelity.

BudaBabe · 17/11/2005 17:26

DH in Prague on a conference....................

Anyone wants him is welcome to him!!!

BTW Moondog we were in Bulgaria before here and DH reckoned sexual harrassment in the office was compulsory!!! The women were as bad as the men!!

Have also been in Asia and the amount previously happilay married men who then end up with little Asian babes is unbelievable.

eefs · 17/11/2005 17:31

see it all the time. sometimes I'm shocked by the guys who do it too - i.e. not always just the leery drunk guys but the genuine-seeming nice guys.

pashmina · 17/11/2005 18:08

oh god eefs,. thats how my DH comes across...just spoken to him, and said he would call me tomorrow AM, no chance, will be phoning and texting like crazy (if I can be bothered!)

sobernow, if we all sat here worrying about what they might be up to, it wouldn't make for a very happy marriage, trust is a big thing. I think if you constantly nag about it, they might just as well go out and do it. There are good men out there keep the faith

janeybops · 17/11/2005 19:04

dh has just laughed and said why would I do that when there is free beer to drink?!

harpsichordcarrier · 17/11/2005 19:24

musicians are the worst

Blandmum · 17/11/2005 19:27

DH is in the RAF and can go away for very long periods of time. there have been years when he has been away for a third of the time. Sometimes he has been away for up to 4 months, wothout a single visit.

In the end it all comes down to trust. the reality is that people can be unfaithful without going away! You have to trust each other.
