I like to convince myself and DH that the only reason I bother with OPKs and temping is because we don't live together full time. In reality, I think I'd probably still be obsessing about it if we were together 24/7 but this way I sound like less of a nutter!!!

CD13 today... let hope DH has a stress free day at work and his train is on time as I'm ready for the marathon to begin! ;)

jbells · 17/06/2011 13:53

Just like to point out when i got pg with dd wxdp knew i hadforgot to take my pill with me and sed he didnt careso we both knew the risks...just incase anyone reads and thinks im a nutjob who tried to trap him 3 years ago lol

100years · 18/06/2011 10:49

Whywait, it took a lot of effort to choose one I tell you, we ummed and ahhed over so many, and read reviews which basically made it a nightmare as opposed to helping! Enjoy your holiday :)

Quod I'm not sure I'm all grown up! LOL

AC I think it's really unfair of people to push the whole advertise babies onto you thing, what if you've been trying forever and having probs and people don't know and do that. Sometimes you don't want to talk about things and explain that yeah actually we want them we just are waiting for x y or z to happen.

SWI, hope you are feeling better now.

Hiya nanny. think we caught up the other day :)

bebe. How are you now re friend and her pg. Hope you had a good weekend.

Squirrel, yay for maternity leave :) Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy :)

jbells, things will get better, it's not going to be easy, but they will get better. What are you going to do about talking to him?

Hope I've not missed anyone, if I have I'm sorry.

Have had a fairly shit week to be honest.

Went into work tuesday to discover the D&V bug that had been going around and wiped out nearly 20(in 4 days) people had not gone, and we lost another member of staff on tues, so am on ultra high alert and alcohol gel cleaning of me and stuff. Think Wed was the last someone was sent home from work, or got the bug, and so far I feel OK, so I'm really hoping I've managed to miss it. They think they discovered the source of it though. So by the time I go back next week it will all be eradicated, hopefully. But it's meant for busy work, horrendously busy, higher work volume than normal and lower staffing! I've also been on earlier shifts so trying to get up earlier has led to extreme tiredness as well.

My hips have been awful and very very painful and can only walk slowly with a real limp and mega pain at times. Had to explain to my mother that yes people probably got it in your day, they just know what it is now after she commented on how it's a new thing etc. Physio was a bit pointless as it was group session and nothing major for me to learn that I'd not picked up in leaflets or from others who have had it.

And my hormones, well boy, I think it's because I'm tired and hurty, but I've had several proper bouts of bawling tears!

I love the fact I'm pregnant, and I love the fact we're going to be a family, I love the kicking and squirming inside me, but it's f*cking hard work and I've not enjoyed it this week at all!

Anyway, a restful weekend, only 6 weeks at work and 20 shifts to go :)

Oh and ladies, I forgot to mention about 2 weeks ago I realised that my boobs have started leaking in the night!!! LOL

OP posts:
Quodlibet · 18/06/2011 11:45

Ooooh 100 that all sounds horrible! I think I'd be in tears too hormones or no hormones. Ongoing pain can really wear you out can't it (I had back problems for a couple of years and know how much it can get you down). Is there anything else you can do for SPD? Would a private physio or osteopath be able to help?

I'm on my one day off today before a run of 11 very long days straight going into our show next week, so advance apols if I go awol. Work is going really well, it's lots of fun alongside the high pressure so I'm really enjoying it. No time at all for thinking about babies though!

Good luck to those of you on shagathons or Operation Funken Drumble this weekend.

Jbells hope things are OK your end and you're finding your feet.

100years · 18/06/2011 12:15

I've actually just rung the private health insurance and have a reference number and when I have a name from the Dr I can start private physio. So hopefully will be in private phys soon. Yeah ongoing pain can wear you down, been in a similar situation in the past with shoulder problem, which isn't actually sorted, but is mostly bearable!

Hope the work goes well :) I tend to be awol when working due to tiredness and just wanting to rest when I get home.

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear about the hip pain 100years, chronic pain is very debilitating, good luck with the private physio.

Good to hear you are starting to feel more like yourself JBells- stay strong!

SWI and AC (and poss bebe!), fertility vibes coming your way for the baby dancing!

Squirrel- great news about mat leave, hope you have time to relax.

OH entered a competition online and we have won £300 worth of.................real nappies! Thinking back to how we would have reacted to this news a few months ago is quite funny. Erm....would have been about it! We need to decide on either 6 months of a nappy washing service (that provides the nappies but they don't belong to you at the end of it) or £300 worth of birth to potty nappies- which do you think would be better?

nannyl · 19/06/2011 17:10

£300 of nappies Smile Grin Grin that are yours forever

but which ones can you choose?

the nappy washing services almost always use prefolds. (like cotton bottoms / bambino mio) and i hate hate HATE them. They are the worst nappy system i have ever used and the ones i wouldnt use even if given to me (other than for boosting all in twos)

Can you choose? there are lots of good nappy systems out there (but few are actually birth to potty, and many that are, well IMO they arnt that great for a heavy wetting toddler, and may struggle to even fit a chunky 2 year old)

Perhaps bumgenius V4, Pop-ins? Mothereease one size (or almost identical one life?) Will they let you have tots bots bamboozle stretchies? If I HAD to choose just one B2P id choose them.... (but they take ages to dry)
Id insist on mother ease airflow wraps and a selection of nappies... ideally some shaped and some birth to potty

also will they provide / let you spend something on a nappy bucket, and laundry mesh thing that you use as a nappy bucket liner, and boosters / washable wipes / liners etc etc? (all pretty essential to have if you are using cloth nappies IMO, though you can get plenty of wipes and fleece liners from an ikea fleece cut up to the right size!

(Im very enviouse lol!)

AmandaCooper · 19/06/2011 19:03

Has mrswantstobeamum had her baby? See fb. I forget who's who on there!

AmandaCooper · 19/06/2011 20:33

Ooh no my big mistake it's one of DH's friends!

100years · 20/06/2011 08:30

Strawberry,Thanks and I echo nanny with buying real nappies, then they are yours afterwards :) The other ones will only go to 6 months and then you will have to either go to disposables or buy all the reusables anyway so you would end up spending on them, might as well have the whole lot beforehand :) And well done :)

Going to go shopping for a few bits today, nothing baby stuff though! Except a pillow and wedge pillow for me!

bebejones · 20/06/2011 08:33

I'm BACK!!! :o

SWI - Hope you had a successful shagathon! Wink

JBells - How do you feel about this latest development?

100 - Sorry you are suffering with the SPD. It is agony & you have my sympathies. Really hope you can get some relief when you manage to see the private physio.

Strawberry - WOW, what a win! No suggestions here, but Nannyl is the expert! :o

Had an absolutely brilliant time on Saturday at wedding. Apart from my own (obviously) was the best wedding I have ever been to! So relaxed & friendly & the food & drink just kept coming. DD partied all night & we had to drag her (literally) off the dance floor just after midnight! DH & I were play fighting at one point, over something can't remember what (all in good humour I hasten to add) and unfortunately I think I might have broken my finger! Blush Was so angry with DH last night, we got to Gloucester & his mood instantly changed. He was fab over the weekend, like he used to be. Fun, loving (although I didn't get any of the good stuff as he was too drunk & I was knackered Hmm) helpful & charming! As soon as we got home he was in a foul mood, so rude to me, short tempered with DD & just playing the martyr (sp?) & generally being pathetic over small things. Went & sobbed in the kitchen, just don't know why he changed as soon as we got home? :(

Anyway, am waiting for GP to call back about finger, think I'll need a referal for xray. And unfortunately DD has just woken up. And so my day begins!

AmandaCooper · 20/06/2011 08:52

Oh Bebe. Your DH just isn't himself at the moment at all. I really don't know what to suggest. I wish there was something useful I could say. And your poor finger too!

100years · 20/06/2011 08:59

Oh no bebe, you don't need a referral for an x-ray for your finger, you can just go to A&E and get it done. Sorry your DH turned into a grump when you got home :( But glad you had a good time :) Thanks re the sympathies.

OP posts:
AmandaCooper · 20/06/2011 09:10

100years didn't mean to ignore your earlier post - was just replying to Bebe while she was online. It must be horrible to be in pain all the time. I just spent the weekend with my sister who has a slipped disk, she is being very brave in public but broke down in tears a couple of times behind closed doors. It's the constant pain that gets you down, isn't it.

Well done winning those nappies - what a brilliant prize!

bebejones · 20/06/2011 09:10

Well I don't want to go up to A&E with DD & hang around for ages to get it done! Blush I kinda want to know if it's worth going first, and if he gives me the form I know I get to pretty much go straight in! Plus I might be able to get DD looked after if I know I need to go!

Don't know what to do with DH, really thought that having a little break would have done him good, but he seems worse than ever! :(

100years · 20/06/2011 09:18

AC, no worries, I wasn't offended don't worry. :) Sorry about your sister :(

I see what you mean bebe, I've broke a finger in the past, on my 'good' hand, not fun!

OP posts:
nannyl · 20/06/2011 09:20

bebe sorry to read about your finger

i have broken both my middle fingers twice (so 4 seperate breaks in total)

all they will do is tape your fingers together, with like a layer of bandage between.

they do no more than that, and you keep it like that for 2 weeks i think.

Unless your finger is visibly bent out of place you could do it yourself or go to GP / minor injuries and get them to do it for you.

Im pretty sure on the 4th break i just did that.

i have broken mine:
slamming in car door (Ouch, that was the worse as door was closed and dad wouldnt open it and kept asking "why?" when i was screaming open door!)
slamming in front door
playing netball (when ball landed on top of finger somehow)
Sailing!

ShaggingWithIntent · 20/06/2011 09:30

Oh Bebe what a pain (finger and lack of action) DH just went to A&E to get his x-rayed and didn't need a referral from the Dr. He went on a Monday morning and it wasn't too busy so hopefully it won't be a long wait to find out if it's broken or not.

It sounds like you had a lovely time at the wedding (such happy events aren't then!) but how crap of DH to then get really moody and grumpy as soon as you got home. That's just not fair on you or DD.

100 - hope that the physio helps with your SPD. It must be horrible.

Strawberry - Fab news on the win! I have no idea what you shold go for as I think I'll be a disposable nappy mummy rather than a reusable one. Am sure the other more informed ladies will be able to help you though!!

Was funny leaving this morning with DH still at home. It's so much nicer than our usual Monday morning routine where we both sleep badly and he wakes me up at 6am when gets up to get the train to London. We've managed to BD 2 days in a row and I think I am OV today so going to try and get another try tonight before he goes back to London tomorrow morning. Then it's the 12 day wait for me where I go slowly insane for 12 days and then AF arrives bang on time!!

ShaggingWithIntent · 20/06/2011 09:33

Oh - and further to Nannyl's advice about fingers. DH was told that he should go because if you don't get it x-rayed they can't check that the bones are in the correct place to heal. He's got an appointment at the fracture clinic this afternoon to check that everything is still in the right place and healing correctly (unlikely given the 3 golf matches and 2 squash matches he's polayed in the last 2 weeks.....!)

bebejones · 20/06/2011 09:46

Spoken to GP, he thinks it's actually ligament damage so will see what he says when I see him a bit later, hoping I can get away with not having to have it xrayed! DH feels suitably bad...it was his fault!! Wink

squirrel007 · 20/06/2011 10:10

Hi everyone! Well I'm enjoying my first day of maternity leave now Grin managed a lie in and now am looking outside at the blue skies and thinking I might go for a walk in the sunshine. Had a nice send off from work on Friday, went out for lunch with my group and spent the afternoon drinking cups of tea. Seems a bit strange to think I have a year off though, I'm not really sure what to do with myself this week!

jbells glad to hear you're feeling more upbeat :) It sounds like you are feeling much happier now he's actually gone, and aren't living with someone who is so negative towards you.

100years sorry to hear you're in pain, but I hope the private physio can help. I've been lucky to avoid too much in the way of aches and pains, but I definitely haven't avoided the random bouts of crying! I don't even know why i'm crying, and DH gets worried because he thinks there's something badly wrong, but I think it's just out-of-control hormones!

quod good luck with the show!

strawberry congratulations on the nappies!! I'd say to go for the washing service if you plan to use disposables, but the actual nappies if you're thinking of using real (as long as they're decent ones). If you plan to use reusables, then a 6 month nappy washing service (unless it's what you're planning to use) just delays the cost of buying everything.

bebe sounds like a lovely wedding, and nice to see your DH relax. Do you think he realises he's so grumpy right now, or is he just caught up in a lot of stress and has no idea? Sorry about your finger too - but hope you can get it seen to :)

SWI glad you had a productive weekend ;) fingers crossed this is your month!

Amanda how are things with your DH? Any signs of him changing his mind this month?

ShaggingWithIntent · 20/06/2011 10:48

bebe If I were you I would really milk that feeling of guilt........ but that's just me!! Wink

bebejones · 20/06/2011 12:29

Finger update: It is 'traumatised'!! Ligament damage to both joints & is strapped up to the middle finger! It's a complete PITA as it's my right hand & I am right-handed!! I have painting to do for the cake toppers for friends cake! Got to have it strapped for a week! :(

Squirrel - enjoy your time off! :)

AmandaCooper · 20/06/2011 13:18

Squirrel yes we DTD this morning! Grin

Not at a fertile time as it happens but the important thing is DH did not know that! So we are now TTC!
