Hello all, just checking in to mark my place - having a crazy busy week this week - we've got our biggest show ever 2 weeks today and work pressure is not going to let up til then. Does hypnobirthing work for normal stress?!?

One more day til the weekend all!

AmandaCooper · 10/06/2011 10:36

I have to admit I'm quite sceptical about hypnobirthing but I think I probably just don't want to get my hopes up thinking that it will make things really manageable and then find it doesn't. I'll be giving it a go no doubt. My mum did it for both her births and swears by it.

It sounds like everything's coming together for everyone. Lots of Big Things being purchased. Not long to go! (she shouts from behind the starting line).

Particularly love the cot from Squirrel's IL that her DH used to sleep in as a baby - that's so lovely!

Nannyl you are so organised I think when its my turn I'll just come round and birth my baby at your house!

AmandaCooper · 10/06/2011 10:37

Quod how are we doing with the infamous career zenith?!

Hiya everyone

How are we all?

Sorry, loads of posts to catch up on, so not a replying post from me for now.

Home from holiday. Had a lovely week :) Was really nice to be away with OH, no signal where we were, so no chance to look at internet or anything like that although we did have a few days out where there was a little signal so I was tagged at various places by OH when he went on FB. Bump has grown about an inch since we went away!! OMG.

Have narrowed down the pushchair/pram choice down to two now! :) It's just deciding on which on for definite we will have, the one is quite a bit more than the other.

Quite tired now, been a long day of travelling and 'nipping' into the shops to look at buggies on the way home. Think we are off out for tea shortly, early night and a hopefully more restful day tomorrow.

Woooooo hooooooo! AF is here!!!!

bebejones · 10/06/2011 21:12

:)

Mine is looming, although the only reason I have to celebrate her arrival is if it's before next weekend! No TTC for me...booooooo! Wink

AmandaCooper · 10/06/2011 21:23

Well can't guarantee anything here either but I am very hopeful! What happens next weekend again?

bebejones · 11/06/2011 08:16

Friends wedding, really don't want to have AF tagging along as an univited guest! Hmm

AmandaCooper · 11/06/2011 09:17

whywait and 100years sorry that in my exuberance I ignored your posts!

whywait how cool that you got to hear the heartbeat, bet 30th seems eons away! It's all just more waiting isn't it! Enjoy Florence - it's a good place to indulge your inner grown up before years of petting zoos and soft play!

100years its nice to go off grid every so often, isn't it. These smartphones are wonderful things but they take over a bit. Which two prams are you thinking of?

Seems AF may have been a false alarm. Boo!

jbells · 11/06/2011 11:59

Hello just catching up on news no time to type much sorry :( ex is taking dd out tomoro so mite get a chance then. Wow sounds weird calling him ex. Thinfs stillvery bad and no signs of reconciling

hopefully b bk online tomoro

100years · 11/06/2011 14:15

Oh AC, is a false alarm good or bad, I'm really sorry, I've seen to have lost track of where you are this month.

We've (I pretty much think that's it) decided on getting a Phil and Ted's Explorer. We've looked at them a couple of times, have a few friends who have them and think they suit everything we want from a buggy/pram thing. Will be getting the peanut that acts like a carry cot/pram bit for the first 6 or so months. We're also going to get the Maxi-cosi cabriofix infant carrier, so have decided on pram and car seat. We've planned a running buggy for when LO is older so we can both go running with buggy if we want to. :)

jbells, sorry to hear that re the reconciling. You will be OK and get through this if you don't get back together.

I'm so tired today, lots of miles yesterday and not a good nights sleep due to buggy issues, think I may go for a lie down now!

Jbells sending more strength to you too.

AC does your AF need to arrive so that you're not apart in the fertile bit?Hope it's merely lurking round the corner in that case.
In answer to your question, who knows with the career zenith?! Currently it still looks on track for January but that could all change again I'm sure. I think it's unlikely there'll be any TTC before then, if I'm honest about it. It's been quite hard recently not to get really angry with him about it all. It's really tricky trying to work out how we can not let it affect our relationship negatively, and I'm really sad that it is.

Loving the idea of the Nannyl Birthing Centre. Can I put my name down too please, in the event we ever get a baby started over here?!

Can't imagine doing things like choosing push chairs at all! Whywait and 100 you seem 'proper' grown ups in my opinion doing that.

What's everyone doing with the weekend? I've just been swimming in an attempt to shake off a hangover. DP's away again til late tonight, but tomorrow we're having a nice day out with friends of ours who are expecting their first in a couple of months. It seems only last week she found out she was pg - time seems to be going so fast.

AmandaCooper · 11/06/2011 20:46

Update: she is definitely here!

AmandaCooper · 11/06/2011 22:33

Well we've definitely avoided our time apart and OV should be about 30 June, so no chance for our holiday flights in July to mess up my cycle. Today is CD1 and I've just had my first grapefruit juice (not bad actually) so everything is full steam ahead.... subject of course as always to DH.

AmandaCooper · 12/06/2011 07:35

Quod it is difficult. As I say I'm still very aware that until I'm actually pg, DH could back out just like that at any time. It does wear the relationship a bit but hopefully, in the end, our relationships will be stronger for having worked through this with our partners.

Went to my aunties yesterday for a family BBQ. My parents weren't there as they're still in Spain for the summer but my dad's two sisters and one of his brothers were there along with their partners and my little cousin and his wife with their baby. There seemed to be a bit of an "advertise babies to Amanda" agenda, as I got given him to hold and asked all the 'when' and 'if' questions! I was noncommittal. I did think of you, Bebe!

Today I have a talk to write for work, worse luck.

AmandaCooper · 12/06/2011 20:40

Gosh it's very quiet on here this weekend, where are you guys?

ShaggingWithIntent · 13/06/2011 09:59

Morning all!!
Sorry I've been off radar for a bit. Spent 3 days of last week in bed with a stomach bug and then was trying to make the most of a weekend with DH so didn't go near my computer!
He's having a bit of a crap time at work at the moment and I'm worried that the stress is going to impact our TTC plans. Fingers crossed it doesn't though as I think I'm due to OV next Monday.....

He's got to go to the fracture clinic in Bath on Monday afternoon so we might be able to have Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon nights together and hopefully that will help us have a successful month!

nannyl · 13/06/2011 12:13

Hello all.

Sorry ive been a busy bee at the weekend.... not that busy but not really had time to update here.

Jbellls, so sorry things are so bad for you at the moment Sad. I hope you have lots of supportive RL friends. Thinking of you X (and loving your facebook photos Smile)

SWI hope you are getting better, and fab news that can see OH for such a long time at such a crucial time Wink

AC, lolling at noncommittal answers... at OHs Xmas do when i WAS pg (but didnt know) I had to give them non committal answers about having babies, knowing there was every possibility i might be pg. Even more important as all OH's siblings and their OHs were present and listening too!

100... oh love P&T explorer.... i was stuck between that and a mountain buggy. That was my last 2.... had i have not been able to get a MB made in the old factory in NZ i would have definitely had a P&T from china (made in same factory as the new MB's) I think i'll be torn between that, a MB double and a britax B dual when number 2 comes along! I think if able to use peanut carrycot when in double mode id have gone for that one!

Whywait I am using the natal hypnotherapy Cds. Have been doing pregnancy relaxation since 16 weeks and i have effective homebirth preparation from 32 weeks. There is also effective birth preparation for hospital / midwife unit
They are always on ebay and often go for £2 - £3 so i dont recommend spending the full £10+ on a new one, unless you really want to.

bebe hope you are feeling better and Angry at the slugs / snails / caterpillars eating your peas!

Quod you made me LOL at "my birthing centre" Shock Grin, and to answer your other question, the hypno relaxing technique can be used for stress, and lots of other stuff... not just birthing Wink

Not that much news here:
Went to Bambino directs new showroom.... it was SO knew it didnt have a sign!!! and i had to go into another shop (on the same industrial estate) and ask.... and they said yes, its at the back of our warehouse Shock. Had a nose at buggys / car seats / pink lining yummy mummy bags, and established that i definitely did want the britax baby safe plus II car seat. (having recently realised that the foot stores in my car means i cant use any car seats / bases with a foot pole, which rules out ALL group 0 car seats with bases or isofix.
also went for a wander around our biggish mothercare and boots and sainsburys

... THEN... i get home, go on mumsnet and someone announces that mothercare has just launched an online sale..... (could not believe my luck, there was no mention of it in the store id been in that very morning) and my car seat was in the sale Grin. Its RRP was £140, but on special offer in boots and bambino direct for £104 and was going to order it this weekend while in sale..... BUT i got it for £69.99 Grin Was well chuffed.
Then someone on my nanny forum found a voucher for babies R us valid sat and sun only for 20% off.... so i ordered my cot and got £50 off that too Grin £200 instead if £250. link here if anyone wants to see!

On Saturday we went to the local agricultural show. Saw lots if animals and sampled lots of local sausages / cakes / jams / pickles etc. Went into one of the local baby shops tent and was browsing at the nappies... she asked me if i needed any, and nearly died of shock when i told her I had 90 already Shock.
Yesturday it poured with rain... we went to MIls and sorted our wills (for them to just write up for us as they are solicitors). We had discussed it before, but went round with it writing to be written up ASAP. Also as we are not married, it is important that I state that my baby is OH's and that i want him to have legal custody of his our child(ren) as if i Died; as we arnt married, my family could quite legally fight for custody of our baby and get it Shock. Anyway OH's parents are writing my will to ensure OH gets all the same rights to our baby, if I die, as he would if we were married.
(I know my family never would, but now they cant, well they can try but wont get anywhere if they did!)

Otherwise nothin exciting... on not such a great note, i had managed a whole week without being sick..... until yesturday.... and then i was sick today as well (dont think ive vomited 2 days in a row for about 10 weeks) and i have been sick again Sad at 11am. Have not been sick at any time other than soon after getting up in the morning for ages either, and i really reaally hope my sickness isnt returning in 3rd trimester (as HG can).. expecially as i have 5 days left in 2nd trimester.

Guess i'll just have to see how it goes... on the plus side i dont feel ill, so thats a good thing.

Hope everyone is ok and that i didnt miss anyone.

bebejones · 13/06/2011 13:04

AF has shown up here this morning! Never been so happy to see her before!! :o

SWI - That sounds good that you should get so much time to DTD this month! No more Dashes to London! Sorry you were poorly last week. Have heard that there are a few tummy bugs going round here. Hoping DD aka the germ magnet, doesn't pick one up before next weekend!

Nannyl - some bargains as always! :) Re sickness, bugger it has come back (a bit) mine tailed off after about 20weeks, but I think I was still sick once a day most days, although I didn't feel anywhere near as awful as I had done before 20weeks, so it was definitely more managable. Plus since I had nearly 8 weeks leave before DD even showed up I didn't have to do anything so it wasn't as much as a nightmare!

JBells - hang in there, hope you have loads of RL support xxx

AC - it sucks being asked all the time, especially by people you don't know!! Angry :(

No news here, no developments, nothing exciting!!

ShaggingWithIntent · 13/06/2011 13:23

Woo!! Maybe this thread needs an AF dance.... Grin
JBells - I hope that you are ok and that there are people in RL who can help cheer you up. DSis picked up her puppy yesterday and I've had a steady stream of super cute pics since then. She is gorgeous!

2 FB friends gave birth over the weekend - Envy very exciting for them but I am fed up of this waiting malarkey!

bebejones · 13/06/2011 16:34

Aaaaaaaaarrrrggghhh!! SWI I feel your Envy, friend from school has just annouced to facebook that she is 12weeks updiffed with #2! Due to see her at school meet up next month! Just feel rubbish! :( Plus AF has made me crave carbs & I've eaten waaaaaaaaaaaay too much bread & bad stuff today! Feeling very sorry for myself. I'm gonna blame hormones....damn you AF...damn you!!! Wink

ShaggingWithIntent · 13/06/2011 16:50

Witch!!!! I shall be delighted when I hopefully have 9 months without her showing her evil witchy face!

bebejones · 13/06/2011 18:37

Can be even more than 9 months....she didn't show her evil witchy face here until DD was 6 months old!!! 15 whole months free of the evil cow! Wink
