Do you live in Surrey?

If so, where and what is it like?

We are (hopefully!) soon going to be house-hunting (renting) and have no restrictions really on where we'll end up. We really like Reigate so far but am interested to know of any other nice family places to live.

Thanks in advance, Dinny

ks where did you move to in the end? think I missed that bit

Carmenere · 11/11/2005 17:38

I'm hoping to move to Carshalton in the new year (hi blossomhill and bumblelion). I too like the village-y atmosphere and feel it has lots going for it (including the fact that my dp works there ). However in the future when we are rich we would like to move to Reigate as I love it, particularly the park.

Yep they are cheaper in some areas but steer well clear of anywhere near Longmead or Watersedge!!! Not really nasty but not the nicest places to live. Ewell village is expensive and a complete nightmare to drive through but the houses are lovely

The prices haved dropped a bit. It used to be really expensive but it's such a small village with a huge amount of cars/buses using it as a route from The by pass to Epsom it gets really jammed. My nan used to live there and it was such a pian to drive to her it was easier to park the car in longmead road and walk over the railway bridge

lol Jura. I'm having to take a different route to school atm due to roadworks and pass at least 5 houses with big clumps of pampas grass in their front gardens. Makes me smirk every time !

There are several redeveloped hospitals around here too - often with gym etc attached. Bit too anonymous for my liking though.

magnolia1 · 15/11/2005 12:53

Jura, We have friends there too and it;s a nightmare!!

Also don't like it at all coz there is still a paedophile unit in part of the old Horton Hospital and a new school built within walking distance!!!

Kaz33 · 15/11/2005 13:24

Hi Issymum - my DS1 has just started in reception at PD and we live on PW.

Don't envy you the commute. Could only think about coming back here as neither DP or I have to work in London. Though saying that DP is currently in Paris, so a different type of commute.

BudaBabe · 15/11/2005 13:38

Hey Magnolia - we have a house in West Ewell!

It's rented out now as we are overseas but I really like Ewell - moved from London in 1993 then moved overseas 2 years later.

Our house is one of the townhouses on the old Kingston Road? Opposite the Mill.

Loved being walking distance from shops, post office, restaurants, library, pubs etc.

Ohhh, you lucky thing. Godstone is lovely.

We were at Godstone farm last weekend actually.

dinny · 19/11/2005 07:44

That is, we are so long as we DO exchange on Tuesday!
Life is going to be so strange after London. Can't quite picture it....
