ok

my sister has just woken me up at 2.30

basically she has smoked a joint to help her sleep but has smoked too much and is having an extreme paranoid reaction

she is really freaking out, wants me to ring hospital, is very scared etc etc

anyone know how long cannabis effects last or what i can do?

I rang Talk to Frank and the man said there is nothing can be done but sleep it off, extreme paranoia and panic attacks can happen etc etc

she obviously isnt in a fit state to listen to logical thought and is just panicking more and more and getting scared

she feels like its getting worse and worse

as an aside, im really worried as im meant to be leaving my kids with her this weekend whilst me and husband go away

i darent go back to bed and leave her like this but cant be up all night will have to be up in 3 hours with DS

maybe she needs to hear it from a medical person..get her to ring nhs direct and a nurse will speak to her, may just calm her down.

says on the frank website the affects can last from an hour to a few hours. theres loads on it if you want to take a look.

im getting annoyed now

im totally freezing (s'ok for she is sitting wrapped in duvet) and absolutely exhausted - i said do you feel calm enough for me to go to bed she just shook her head

its very weird she looks totally fine and appears very calm but says she feels deranged

i dont mean to be horrible

could you show her the website maybe? convince her that nothing bad is going to happen? do you reckon she's having a panic attack or something like that?

hmmm i dont know what to suggest then. its been many years since i smoked anything stronger than a silk cut. is she not starting to feel any better at all?

when i ask her she says she feels like its getting worse

ive been reading up and im quite sure she will be fine, apparently you can overdose on cannabis you will just feel very dreadful but WILL feel better

i keep reassuring her of this

i know im a bitch but im just getting pissed off now - i have got a 2 year old to look after tomorrow, childminding 16 mth old and a 6 yr old to get to school in 4 hours. also have to pack for this weekend away

also seriously worried about going away for weekend - what if she isnt feeling better???

she'll prob be fine by then i would imagine. she may feel a bit dodgy tomorrow but i doubt it will last all weekend. one joint has made her feel like this?

yep, very bizarre isnt it!

she used leaves as opposed to a solid lump iyswim and seems to have packed it in and smoked whole joint to herself very quickly

we have made some progress - she doesnt feel any better but thinks that she may not feel any worse, so thats something

just wish she would let me go to bed

Its called 'greening out' its probably because like you say shes smoked alot in a short time and because its the buds/leaves apposed to solid its stronger. it will wear off the best thing she can do is sleep and drink plenty of water, hope she feels better and hope you get to relax!

its ok (looks around in a shifty way) no-one is around. praps that's it then, she's not used to it and has loaded it up tooooo much. i dont know..like i say, its been a very long time!! is she still feeling ok now? (will she let you go to sleep?)

ive given her loads of water and some hot chocolate

she says she couldnt sleep, when she lies down/shuts her eyes its worse
