Getting it off my chest....

Anyone want to join in on a thread just devoted to sounding off about (non parenting) things that have annoyed you? Well here goes...
I would like to say a big thank you to the absolute xxxxxx that pranged my car while it was parked outside my house sometime in the last 48 hours. The fact that you didn't feel it necessary to leave your details just adds to my love for you. You are probably one of the caring commuters who parks in my road (for free) all day before taking the train to town - glad that we can be of service. Nor should you let the
fact that your journey has turned our quiet little cul-de-sac where kids play footie in the street into the fifth lane of the M25 worry you in the least. And don't be perturbed by the fact that I, and all the other mums in the road, can now no longer park anywhere near our houses when we come home with the supermarket shopping and a car full of screaming kids. Hey, it's all just helps make our day even more fun. So thank you, nameless stranger, for completely annihilating the front of my car and losing me my no claims bonus. My week had looked really boring, now, thanks to you, there's so much to do... I have to go to the police station, get insurance quotes, fax my insurers and then wait for them to send an assessor round to view the damage. And then, if I am really lucky, I will lose the use of my car for several days. Gee things are looking up. You have really made my day.
Sorry chaps, just had to let it out.

Pam T - if it makes you feel better, we've been at war with our neighbour over his badly trained Alsation coming into our garden and pooing / being aggressive (several times he's been up the steps to the roof and broken lots of roof tiles by running all over it). It seems we've fixed that problem finally - he's fixed the fence - only to have a major sewage leak so we now have human sewage all over the garden (and do you think there's such a thing as an emergency plumber in Andalucia?). I know which problem I'd prefer...

PamT · 02/07/2002 16:28

Lucy, you seem to go from one bit of bad news to the other judging by your other threads. I sympathise greatly. What I didn't say on the other message was that the neighbour's drain problem was caused by 2 pipes not being sealed properly and therefore all his toilet and bathroom waste was seeping out of the gap and into his cellar, possibly ours to a lesser but not noticeable extent and no doubt polluting the soil in the back garden. I can't really blame him for that though as it wasn't him who did the pipework in the first place and at least he has sorted it out now - even if it did involve him bringing his dog into the garden and leaving a pile of you know what behind.

I am pleased to report however that I have done poo patrol today and have found no evidence of canine nuisance.

thanks for the sympathy. btw dp solved the neighbour/dog problem by six months of shouting about it very very loudly and aggressively to the point where the neighbour thought we'd poisoned his frogs when there were fewer this year. dp has this effect - if we didn't live in Spain I'd lend him to you (but let's hope you don't need help now! ). Also if anyone's worried the frog population is back to normal and we didn't poison them!

Soupdragon - been there, done that Never again!

Ionesmum, just read the dog/ yoghurt thing, fab, kept me chuckling for ages!

ionesmum · 02/07/2002 21:32

eli - thanks for the tomato juice tip.

Another thing you can use for thrush are acidophilus capsules. However, you have to watch out for the ones that contain co-enzymes. A friend of mine didn't check the label and she said that it was the worse pain she's ever known. She only didn't go to casualty because she's a qualified medical practitioner and was too embarrassed!

northernlass · 04/07/2002 13:15

Need a rant about a friend. She came round this afternoon and we looked at something on my Mac (which is upstairs in the study). I went downstairs to get something and DH came up to find her reading a personal document of mine (it wasn't what we were looking at and neither would I have shown it to her, it was private) that she'd decided to open. She hurriedly closed it when he came in but I'm SO CROSS! WHAT A CHEEKY NOSY COW! HOW DARE SHE? Not so sure she'll stay my friend now. He's only just told me now she's gone. Grrrrrrrr.

Lucy123 · 04/07/2002 14:21

northernlass - I see why you're upset - I know I would be. I once found my sister's diary and DIDN'T read it - but of course no-one believes me.

Rhubarb · 04/07/2002 14:24

What a nosy cow! Still, you should be flattered that she finds your life so interesting! She obviously doesn't have one herself!

PamT · 04/07/2002 14:28

Northernlass, as a very nosey person myself I would probably read something that was left open in front of me but I would never go searching for things whilst in someone else's house, whether on the computer or in drawers/files etc. Even I consider this to be a major intrusion and I bet you will think twice before you leave her unattended again won't you?

PamT · 12/07/2002 16:00

I just had to say how brassed off I am because our Headmaster has decided to close school for the day on Wednesday due to industrial action by UNISON etc. Its 2 days before the school holidays and I've got enough to do without having to look after the kids all day too, Monday and Tuesday are already written off for sports days and Friday is DDs playgroup party. I was hoping to have some time on Wednesday whilst DD was at playgroup to actually get some work done. Grrrrrr

emsiewill · 13/07/2002 09:44

Yes, my dd's school is closed, too - luckily I had planned to have the day off that day, anyway, but it could have been a collossal pain - I hadn't even heard about this strike till yesterday - does anyone know if it's going to affect us in any other ways?

Snugs · 13/07/2002 11:05

Nursery closed on Wednesday IS a big pain to me. I had arranged to have some blood tests done and I have a nasty habit of fainting - really don't want to do that in front of ds but now have no choice but to take him to appointment with me
