I always seem to be starting Archers threads...

Have I got this right? Julia has died suddenly it seems and in rl too. I can't seem to link to the Archers home page, but there's something on there about it.

Awful stuff TinyGang. Mary Wimbush (81) died at the studios after completing her day's Archers recordings a couple of weeks ago.
I must admit I remember her as Prudie in Poldark and loved her work. She had quite a Bohemian streak in her

wilbur · 08/11/2005 14:41

Yes, the actress died v suddenly. Haven't had time to listen since - how has Julia died in the Archers? So sad, so soon after her wedding.

Lost touch with Archers in the past few years - is she Nigel's mother?

Janh · 08/11/2005 17:31

Marina, Julia was Prudie? I had no idea...must dig out my Poldark vids.

I was in tears listening to Nigel at lunch time

BethAndHerBrood · 08/11/2005 17:31

Have we found out yet the results of the DNA test to see whoo George's dad is?

Blandmum · 08/11/2005 17:34

She will be missed, a great character and a great actress.

I still miss Nelson, such a lovable rogue

Janh · 08/11/2005 17:35

Archers homepage tributes

No news on the blood tests yet, Bahb - just realised I've absolutely no idea how long they take IRL!

wilbur · 08/11/2005 17:52

I'll have to set a reminder to listen to Archers on Sunday and catch up. Poor Nigel.

jolou1 · 08/11/2005 17:56

Good on the Archers to react so quickly and sensitively to the death of Mary Wimbush. I love the way it's kept me gripped for at least the last fifteen years. Can't wait for the denoument of the Will/Ed/George saga.

lilibet · 08/11/2005 18:01

I usd to love The Archers but got out of the habit of listening.

Broke my heart when John Archer died.

Must start again

Who is George?

Blandmum · 08/11/2005 18:20

George is Emma Carter's son, possibly by Ed Grundy , possibly by William Grundy (who she married and has now left cos she lurves Ed)

My money is on William really being the father after all

Lio · 08/11/2005 18:53

Yes, I reckon Will is the Dad too. Don't often get to listen to it these days but I am sad enough that I get a synopsis emailed to me every day - signed up for it on the beeb website. The tributes to Mary Wimbush are lovely. Poor Lewis

Enid · 08/11/2005 20:08

yeah I bet deffo will is the father

I LOVE the archers

Blandmum · 08/11/2005 20:12

What do you think will happen then, Enid?

Will Emmur (sic) and Ed stay together? Or will Ed leg it to Oz?

Janh · 08/11/2005 22:06

They will both dump her and she and George will have to move back home with Radio Carter and Old Misery?

lilibet · 09/11/2005 08:03

Thought for a horrible minute you meant Eddie Grundy then remembered he had a son named after him.

I must catch up!

wilbur · 13/11/2005 10:27

Just listening to the omnibus edition - poor poor Nigel - he's such a lovely character. Also, what was Linda's "big disappointment, think I have missed this.

Janh · 13/11/2005 10:31

The Cat and Fiddle - she was hoping to do a heritage restoration thing but nasty Matt Crawford's nasty mate is going to turn it into flats.

Janh - yes Mary Wimbush (julia) was Prudie in Poldark. I didn't realise it was MW who played Julia and was astonished to realise they were on and the same woman when she died (to me, MW means Prudie and the odd one off role in TV dramas) but if you listen carefully to her voice, you can detect Prudie in it - I know that sounds daft!

Janh · 13/11/2005 19:23

Kate was always a manipulative, devious little baggage - remember how she tried to convince everybody Roy was OK for her to take Phoebe back with her last time she came?

She is her parents' daughter....
