When do you put your Christmas decs up?

Was just reading a thread about Fairy lights and stuff and just wondered when most people put their Christmas decs up.

Mine go up the first weekend in December!

Is this thread a wee bit early to be talking about Christmas do you think?

Usually on the 10th that way ds hasn't got long to wait to open his pressies!

No. I'm due 18 December, so am planning Xmas as early as possible this year!

This year I am likely to be hormonal, so they will go up the day I suddenly feel festive

I've already got half a freezer full of frozen goodies and meals for after the baby's arrival, and all DD's pressies sorted.

Usually second Saturday in December. Any earlier and the tree doesn't make it. And thats about as long as I can hold out on DS. So this year probably the 10th.

mine go up the last weekend in november. i LOVE christmas and have most presents bought now already.

i have so many presents to buy and tend to go over the top so need to start as early as poss in order to afford it

First weekend in December, but by Boxing Day I have had enough and take it down.

OMG - last weekend - that's nuts!

I hate putting them up too early - when I was a child they always went around the 19th as it is my sister's birthday.

This year ours will go up on 9th as we are having a Xmas drinks do on the 10th.

My mum always hated having them up and refused to do it till about the 20th, no matter how much we begged. She would whip them down after Boxing Day, too, thought they made the house look messy.

I now put mine up as early in December as I can manage, always by the first weekend. It's especially satisfying to tell my mother I have done it, too

I'm clearly in a minority here...we decorate and put the tree up on Christmas Eve, then leave it all up until 12th Night...

We have advent things (I've quilted an advent calendar which the children take little decorations out of), and probably an advent candle, then put the christmas decorations up a couple of weeks before Christmas (we go away straight afterwards so need time to enjoy them!)

A day or two before Christmas, and they stay up till 12th night.

couple of weeks before, I have too much to do on Christmas Eve to leave it until then - and seeing as I'm cooking for 14 (again looks like another busy one - bring on the gin!

expat, my ds2 was due the 18th but came on the 21st. I well remember that Christmas - and you will remember this one too! There will never be another one like it! I had all my presents sorted well in advance that year. Anyway, just wanted to say good luck and enjoy to you.

When do I put Christmas decs up? Not too early but before the 21st so they are there for ds2's birthday. I would like to do it on the last day of term (20th this year I believe) but the pressure from the children becomes too great before that usually.
