Was just reading a thread about Fairy lights and stuff and just wondered when most people put their Christmas decs up.

Mine go up the first weekend in December!

Oohh I cant wait now!

We have a rule that there can be no Christmas music in the house before the 1st December and then it's Slade etc all the way 'til the end of the month.

We have an advent candle too as well as numerous advent calandars!

Saw a great idea in the poundshop the other day - 24 tea lights in a pack each with a number from 1 - 24 in it! I was going to buy one, but as the queue was very long I didnt bother and thought hey I could do that at home myself - I have tons of tealights and Im sure I have a marker somewhere!

sweetkitty · 03/11/2005 13:43

Probably first weekend in December (have to get DP to help get them from the loft etc) as I will be about 34 weeks pregnant by then.

Can't wait first Christmas in our new house

JenumGeranium · 03/11/2005 13:45

Awww that will be lovely!

teeavee · 03/11/2005 14:29

the best decorations we did was when dp climbed an apple tree to retrieve a HUGE ball of mistletoe, which we hung from the ceiling - looked fab!

notasheep · 03/11/2005 14:30

Christmas Eve then drink lots of alcohol

sweetkitty · 03/11/2005 14:31

JenumGeranium - it's actually DP and I's 11th Christmas together (OMG haven't thought of that before) and our second with DD so she will be a bit more aware. We've had loads of flats together before but this is our first proper family home and we have had the hardest time buying it so it's extra nice

dramaqueen72 · 03/11/2005 14:32

Baby number four due actually on christmas day- so like expat am getting very organised much earlier. gifts nearly all done, cards being created, gift wrap etc being bought... not sure about decorations, around about the 10/12th is plenty early enough for me. and they are usualy down by new years as they drive me crazy after abit of thinking they look lovely. new year fresh start and all that. could be later this year as will have handsful of new baby!

donnie · 03/11/2005 14:36

weekend before the 25th

auntymandy · 03/11/2005 14:37

puff · 03/11/2005 14:43

Tree goes up Christmas Eve.

Gobbledigook · 03/11/2005 14:47

We do ours on 5th Dec as it's dh's birthday.

Btw, how is it too early to talk about Xmas? It's next month! I've done about 2/3 of my shopping too!

JenumGeranium · 03/11/2005 15:04

I only said that as no one was writing any messages at the beginning and I thought - oh no everyone is going - Arrgghh stop talking about Christmas!

But as its going well now - I guess its not too early! I love it and I'm going to enjoy the buildup starting now - just off to find my Now thats what I call Christmas CD!
