on the duane, shane theme - just remembered that when i was a kid, the three girls across the road were called Michelle, Danielle, and Chantelle, mum reckoned the next one would be called bloodyelle!

Lonelymum · 31/10/2005 20:59

By the way, my name was originally a diminutive of another name and I was always being called by the full name when I was a child (and was bullied by some bitches on the strength of the fact that I did not have a "proper" name). Nowadays, you would never think of it as a diminutive of another name. I spent the whole time, even as a small child, correcting people. Even now, when asked to fill in official forms, I get asked if I have written my full name. (Yes thank you, I know how to fill in an oficial form!) Despite the bullying, I wouldn't change my name and I think it was a bit character building as a child, having to assert what your name was in the face of so much oppostion.

spidermama, I did that the first time DD1 mentioned it to me - then apparently I said "Tarl? Tarl? That's not a name!" - she told her friend that I'd said it too, they both ROFL!

i don't mind trefor!!!
graeme, or graham (what weird spellings, I always think) are both worse alternaitives imo

Lel1972 · 31/10/2005 21:05

happylockets - my DH had Sonny written down if we had a boy - ok, but our surname is Shiner - took him ages to see what I was getting at!!

moondog · 31/10/2005 21:06
