hunker - you just dare to not tell us - we'll find out your address and ambush your house.

I'm sure the reactions won't be as bad as I got (in RL!) with DS2's name - ranging from "WHAT??" to "oh that's unusual" and even getting cards to "Tom Guy" (he's Tongai)

hunkerpumpkin · 28/10/2005 22:52

DH already said he won't have a name with the "WTF factor" - he says DS's name is about as left-field as he's prepared to go which made me lol as it's not that out of the ordinary!

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 22:57

Sorry I disappeared everyone, my daughter phoned to say she'd forgotten her shoes for the show so I had to find them and dash down with them, I got to hear her sing her solo though, although I couldn't see her very well

dropinthe · 28/10/2005 22:59

I'll keep quiet on this one,eh??

(For all that know me!)

buffytheharpsichordcarrier · 28/10/2005 23:00

my friend called dd Bonnie (dog's name)
surname is Parker
i.e. Bonnie and Clyde
i.e. she called her dd after a dog and a nasty thieving criminal
donkey

Sarahx2005 · 28/10/2005 23:07

I know a Talitha, they call her Tally for short and there was a little girl called Thalia in the hospital when we were there, she was admitted on Christmas day

Marina · 28/10/2005 23:37

I find it hard to keep a straight face when I encounter young Aragorn on my daily route to work/nursery. Whyohwhyohwhy?

tigermoth · 28/10/2005 23:41

no marina, tell me it is not so!

Mummyvicky · 28/10/2005 23:41

Chad-boy and Miffy-Girl ! lol

bluebear · 28/10/2005 23:42

Hey Tegan - we've got a Tegan too - known at nursery as Tiggy tiger and about the house as 'Tigger'. She's only 2 so has no embarrassment yet.

Ds has got an unusual name and an even worse middle name - don't know what I was thinking

A friend has just had a baby who has a number of very traditional beautiful names - but her initials spell a minor swear word! That caused a snort to be stifled!

Marina · 28/10/2005 23:43

Tigermoth, fraid so. He is a dear little guy and his parents look unfeasibly sensible to have done this to him...

edam · 28/10/2005 23:47

I know of a Pandora, poor kid. Screams 'wannabe upper-middle class parents'. Plus Pandora's box always sounds rude to me...

And a Margot. Lovely little girl, lovely parents, but can't help hearing the theme tune to the Good Life in my head when I think of her...

Bellie · 29/10/2005 05:50

how about velvet???? With the surname of my friends really sounds like a porn star!

kuoni · 29/10/2005 06:52

LadyTophamHatt · 29/10/2005 07:56

Well, I don't know them personally but through a friend of a friend.

I suspect I will kill this thread dead in it's tracks because it easily out does every single name here on the snort-o-meter.

Here it is...

DISNEY

FFS, that poor child!

edam · 29/10/2005 08:45

indeed

Do you think any younger brother will be called Mickey? Or Minnie for a girl?

A friend of mine was clearly suffering from late-pregnancy brain - you know when it turns to mush? She wanted to call her daughter Nettle... but thought better of it, fortunately.

Enid · 29/10/2005 08:46

minnie-lupin

LadyTophamHatt · 29/10/2005 08:57

Can you imagine the poor child as grown woman? Some high flying, big time city worker with a name like that

I bet she'll be really thanking her mother in years to come

crazydazy · 29/10/2005 09:08

I saw a baby in a baby competition and her name was Angel-Star Princess Walton - wtf?????

JenumGeranium · 29/10/2005 15:53

one of my friends called her boy Justin.

I didnt snort as such but was a bit disappointed she didnt choose something a bit more interesting.

Sorry to parents of Justins!

expatinscotland · 29/10/2005 15:55

Crazy
I belonged to a gym w/a gal who named her daughter 'Dazzle Star'. I kid you not. She got pretty defensive when a bloke kidded her that 'that's a porn star name.'

JenumGeranium · 29/10/2005 15:56

lol

Sounds also like a name for a 'my little pony' - awww

expatinscotland · 29/10/2005 15:57

Her son's name was 'Rocky'.

She was . . . um . . . different.

JenumGeranium · 29/10/2005 15:58

actually my nephew used to play with a little boy called Rocky when he was little!

His family was a tad erm ....different too!
