The phrase "don't you have anything better to do than post on here ?".

yawn parp and yawn again

frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 18:24

Who wrote....?

Aaargh! Ever heard of google?

Why is everyone so het up about church schools? I have completely missed that one...

fullmoonfiend · 28/10/2005 18:42

'my dd is only 9 months old and reading shakespeare'
Picky eaters = bad parenting
Why won't my 2-week old sleep through the night OR 'my 2-week sleeps throught he night, aren't I womnderful (instead of 'aren't I bloody lucky'

SenoraPostrophe · 28/10/2005 19:05

oh god.

these are not strictly parp threads in that I don't post about them, but....

church schools
private schools
in fact any inequity in the education system.

fashion threads
this-country-is-going-to-the-dogs threads (especially if they are along the lines of "taxes are so high that this country is going to the dogs" or "my dd's teacher won't give her the work I want her to and god this country's going to the dogs" )

also "it's all pc nonsense" (like that's an automatic argument-stopper)

chav threads (esp people who argue that whinging about chavs isn't snobbery before going on about eating tinned meat etc)

and especially leaving-them-anywhere-for-5-mins-is-child-abuse threads.

Nightynight · 28/10/2005 19:13

cod youre too harsh on unfortunates who are looking for practical help.

RottenRhubarbWitch · 28/10/2005 19:22

Those saying 'Test your IQ' or 'Are you a bitch' just so people can say "Ooooh, look at me, aren't I clever!"

RottenRhubarbWitch · 28/10/2005 19:23

Or anything with 'nanny, au pair, or cleaner' in the title.

Nightynight · 28/10/2005 19:30

so "my cleaner is having an affair with Father Christmas, is it my fault because I dont pay her enough?" would get you going then Rhubarb??

RottenRhubarbWitch · 28/10/2005 19:30

fsfsfsfdrer!!!!

WitchyWhizzz · 28/10/2005 19:32

Will my microwave kill me ?
Do tampons have asbestos in them ?
Toxic chemicals in my bath

I know I shouldn't post on these but I just have to ! So PARP

Nightynight · 28/10/2005 19:32

he he
thread most likely to annoy Enid would be "why has a teacher at my local church school criticised my decision to have a caesarian when my lovely midwife says its perfectly fine?"

WitchyWhizzz · 28/10/2005 19:32

And then someone sen her a handmade card

Nightynight · 28/10/2005 19:33

witchywizz
"I just put my tampon in the microwave to check if it had asbestos in, it has exploded and now my house is full of toxic chemicals, what shall I do?"

frannykenstein · 28/10/2005 19:33

My baby is 3 days old, why won't she go 4 hours between feeds and sleep through the night yet?

foundintranslation · 28/10/2005 19:35

am with you frannykenstein!

WitchyWhizzz · 28/10/2005 19:38

Nightynight ...Aaaarrrrggghhhhh

hunkerpumpkin · 28/10/2005 19:39

These aren't parp subjects though, a lot of this is just sniping.

Caligula · 28/10/2005 19:48

Fathers 4 Justice
Men who don't do housework or childcare
Breastfeeding
My DH drinks seventy units of alcohol a week but isn't an alcoholic as he has a job
And many others depending on time, mood and menstrual status!

Medea · 28/10/2005 19:55
  1. Americans
2. Any thread that contains the phrase "Why have kids if you're going to have someone else look after them." 3. Wedding etiquette (oddly enough) 4. Threads that begin with some complascent anecdote about what some other mother did. . .and isn't it appalling! (I always think of gossipy biddies in Jane Austen.)
twirlaround · 28/10/2005 19:57

Mumsiness

twirlaround · 28/10/2005 19:58

Name threads - just get a book, stop asking everyone else - it's all been done before

twirlaround · 28/10/2005 20:00

Age gaps - it REALLY doesn't matter

Alcoholics - am I one? If you are asking then yes.

Nightynight · 28/10/2005 20:10

medea
Ill have you know that those gossipy old biddies were my ancestors!

I love those threads - Im just waiting for the day when some other mumsnet regular pipes up and says it was them!

aloha · 28/10/2005 20:12

I'd say a PARP thread is one that makes so so cross your heart races and you lose all your sense of humour PLUS you've said everything you have to say about one zillion times before.

OP posts:
SenoraPostrophe · 28/10/2005 20:16

that's my understanding too.

Like i say, I often still post on them though.

actually i've just remembered another one:

some mumsnetters are so bitchy/snobby/cliquey and it pisses me off so much that I'm going to be really bitchy/snobby/cliquey about it threads.
