now i love it BUT as i walked around it yestreday i thought:

someof hte stuff there is really expensive
surely if yo have loads of money you shop at flasher places?

also are allt he staff robots?

whya re they obsessed with labels? ( as in price labels)

I think people shop there because everything is under one roof so it's quicker.

Not sure about the staff, but they are not staff but partners I think

I guess they have a stock control system which needs the labels.

handlemecarefully · 25/10/2005 15:19

But how many flasher places are there within easy range of So'ton Cod? (although Christopher Wray lighting is very good and French and Sons for childrens shoes)

And don't forget - "they are never knowingly undersold"

wallopyCOD · 25/10/2005 15:21

it si great but annoyingly predictable

Come on tho can you be arsed to drag round loads of diff. shops with screaming kids when you can get it all there?

handlemecarefully · 25/10/2005 15:25

Yep, there is an awful lot to be said for that CD.

And not every shop offers such an efficient 'Customer Collections' service

CountessDracula · 25/10/2005 15:28

I am a John Lewis partner

startingtobehalloweenylover · 25/10/2005 15:49

they call their staff "partners"
god that is so pretentious.

Tinker · 25/10/2005 15:49

But they are partners!

startingtobehalloweenylover · 25/10/2005 15:51

how so?

handlemecarefully · 25/10/2005 15:52

well some sort of notional profit sharing in the form of a bonus..

Tinker · 25/10/2005 15:53

It is a partnership involving all staff.

Tinker · 25/10/2005 15:57

Found this

'Unique' is the word to describe The John Lewis Parnership which includes 23 department stores, waitrose supermarkets and a stake in the internet delivery service ocado. It is a company where staff are called 'partners' who each recieve a bonus out of the company's profits each year in March, the remaing profit is put back into the company to keep it a viable business. (The bonus is a given percentage of the parner's annual pay. 2002: 9%.) Which is why the company is called a partnership. These ethics were the ideas of the company's founder who was called John Lewis whose ideas at the time were revolutionary. John Lewis began in business by importing and selling silk fabric, Haberdashery and fabric are still sold at John Lewis department stores today.
