Ciao tutte!

OP posts:
Rosa · 24/09/2011 14:40

the ones yesterday were for my SIL. the ones domani are for a centro gioco that I am doing them for pubblicity! I have done them to order and I am hoping to expand . I do the odd birthday cake as well but these are quicker.
I tend to sware by the hummingbird vanilla cupcake - if you google it it comes up. I then do variations . ( I also use SR flour but make sure teh oven is not on fan as they dry out !) However the Italian palate is not that fussy on huge dollops of Butter icing so I try to alter them a bit. I really want to try the cream cheese frosting but not sure how it will go down so need some samplers first.
Minirosa is full, groggy and snotty and dd1 getting better slight cough. I have that faint tickle in the throat and am pleading please no..... However it would be probable with 2 sneezing and snotting all over me since Thursday !
PLus Dh wants to do teh changeover to teh Mac this weekend and I am just wanting to get as much done as I can so I can explore it slowly. I work off the computer he does not and thinks it a giant navigation / gioco station. he also has one of these tiny keypads with a touch mouse at teh end. How do I click and drag / copy and paste with that ???

Francagoestohollywood · 24/09/2011 22:18

Oh I love cream cheese frosting! I am sure many Italians will agree that it is lovely.

Rosa, well done for expanding your cake business!

Rosa · 26/09/2011 09:29

success the frosting went down well.. I have a cake order for Friday and a potential birthday cupcake order for a big birthday in december.... PLus everybody took my biglettini......Speriamo bene!

Francagoestohollywood · 26/09/2011 10:03

Brava Rosa Smile!!!

I managed to change the pediatra this morning, and queued only 45 minutes. Hurrah! Hmm Grin

Rosa · 26/09/2011 10:12

Well done. I get shivers thinking about having to do things like that. .....
Madonna its still too hot . DD1 has 3 pairs of leggings 3/4 as tt resto e lungo oppure she has grown out of them. She has put holes in the rest...Arrgghhhh and they made them put grembule on this am. Dd is on strict orders to take off if she gets hot as they run round outside at 13.00!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 26/09/2011 10:29

Very hot here too, I turned on the AC yesterday afternoon!

However, yesterday we went out with friends for an early dinner and it was lovely to walk home in a tshirt! Soon it'll be too cold!

Rosa · 26/09/2011 12:25

If you go on my FB page I have posted the pics from the sunday cake thing and the grape squashing that took place !!! They had a ball ! DD is in regdleggings and a white and blue striped t shirt - pony tail. You only see her back as thats what they wanted there is one of minirosa in there in a blue denim dress!! It was a great afternoon with the dancing afterwards. The tourists must have thought we were mad !

Francagoestohollywood · 26/09/2011 12:35

Have checked out, but I couldn't see the pics! There is a pic of dd holding a cupcake, but can't see the new ones Shock! Is my fb playing up???

Rosa · 26/09/2011 14:32

mmm - I clicked share the pictures from the fb page of the place we were at. I wonder if I can only share them with others from this site.... Seems strange as on my pics you can't share them only I can show them IYKWIM.
Worred...Dh is complaining of a very sore abdomen sort of lower right. Domani we get the results of his Scan on his back also lower right - his doc thought his back might be disc related- howver this abdomen pai has been niggling for 2 days and today he is in pain. He says its not muscular. His doc has no free spaces this pm or wed. Have told him that he is going to go and queue vecchio sistema domani pm .... I will probably drive and go and get his scan results as they were not done locally as the waiting list was too long !

Francagoestohollywood · 26/09/2011 14:48

Oh dear, poor dh! Yes, he needs to go asap and queue. Poverino!

Sputnik · 26/09/2011 22:32

Rosa my grasp of anatomy is shaky but isn't that where the appendix is? He should get it looked at, hope he's ok.
Congratulations on your cupcake success!

spaghettina · 27/09/2011 09:51

Hello! I've managed to find you all again, took me a while somehow (doh) and I have been trying not to spend too much time on here recently so I can get more work done...
I survived the 6 weeks in the "sweltering boondocks" (Bucharest you have a definite way with words!) with the in-laws and actually managed to enjoy and relax, and DP was a totally different person, more relaxed and reasonable than usual - of course, he would be, back on his home turf etc.

Since we got back DD has started at asilo, the one I wasn't really sure about but we're giving it a go and so far she seems to like it, and be happy to go there every day, despite our reservations about the rather old-fashioned way they do things. We've already had an altercation about the fact they want to do monthly medical check ups with a (male) paediatrician without parents being there....there's no way we'll agree to that!

It's looking more and more likely we'll "have" to move down south for DP's work, Bucharest if you read this I'd love to compare notes somehow and get some idea of what to expect if I do ever give in. Can't say I'm keen on leaving Milan though...I mean, I would be keen to leave Milan for somewhere like Paris, Berlin or Rome, but we're talking provincial Puglia here, I feel like a fish out of water (or perhaps a dioxin-filled mussel would be a more apt metaphor, given the location...)

Rosa, very impressed with your cake business, I love cupcakes and have attempted them a few times - you're right, Italians don't really "get" butter icing on cakes. I, on the other hand, can't get enough of it... :)

Francagoestohollywood · 27/09/2011 13:25

Rosa, how's dh?

Hello Spagh, happy to hear you had a lovely holiday!

Mmmmm another moving dilemma for the little italiens...
Personally, despite liking Puglia very much and always hoping to bump into Scamarcio (and having eaten some wonderful mussels there Wink) I am not sure I'd want to move there permanently, I love big cities too much!
To be honest, it is not just Puglia I wouldn't move to, I fear I'd struggle in any small Italian city, apart from possibly some places in Emilia Romagna. Boh!

On the other hand, I dream of winning a lottery ticket and divide myself between Palermo, Venice and New York. How does that sound??

Rosa · 27/09/2011 20:09

Well I have the results but he will not open them ( I reckon he is scared and wants the doc to see them). He is in pain a bit but I know he is playing it down its the abdomen pain that is corncerning..He hasn't got his appendix anymore so its not that. Howeber he has no temp, sickness or other problems. He is seeing the back guy dom sera. Then if the two are not connected he is going into pronto soccorso!
I managed to spend EU112 on little things in Ikea FGS! Then had 2 hrs to wait until Toys opened as a friend wanted me to get something for her so I went into duedipetto - or I think its now ido and spent boutht some things for teh dds. I like the stuff its good quality , it washes well but I normally buy in the sale ! PLus its not black or grigio....... H&M naf naf naf. Its all sodding hello Kitty and the leggings and tops are such thin cotton - waste of money. But I did by a big cardi for me for Eu19.95!

Rosa · 27/09/2011 20:11

Opps sorry Spaghettina Hi - as for moving down south I would have to be divorced from DH first as he will only go to Rome if passing the airport. I have tried to get him down the Amalfi coast and Sicily with no joy..... Mind you if I knew Bucharest would be my neighbour then I am sure I would cope !

BananaGio · 27/09/2011 22:37

Hi Spaghettina good to hear things were a bit better with dh when you were away. When would any move happen?
Rosa hope all goes well with doc and dh. hate that waiting for test results. am sure will be something and nothing but doesnt stop waiting being nasty.

ForYourDreamsAreChina · 28/09/2011 08:28

You called?

Spag, blimey.....I remember when my (English) friend did the opposite, and moved from here to Milan, and kept ringing me up and saying "people use zebra crossings!!!" "people stop at traffic lights!!!" "people have teeth!!!"

You must of course move to Trani and be my neighbour! (I can't remember where your dh is from, is it Lecce way?) I think Lecce compared to Bari is supposed to be quite "sophisticated"

Rosa, goodness poor dh and poor you...what a worry. Fingers crossed it's referred pain from his back. He's not taking diflo-what's it called (finishes in -ac) for his back pain is he? Dp,my mum,my cousin and several friends all were on that for various gimpy legs/backs/arthritis type things, and were made so ill in other parts by it, they all preferred to suffer the aches and pains. My cousin was rushed into hospital one Saturday night and they thought his organs were shutting down can you believe, then as soon as he said he was on that, they said, "oh yes, it'll be that". Shock

It's dd's birthday on Sunday and she is adamant she doesn't want a party but dp, being southern man, thinks that's not on "mica puo' decidere lei!" Er, if not on her birthday, then when???? We have compromised by inviting 3 friends to the house to play and eat crisps and then we'll invite his brothers and their brood for pizza.

minervaitalica · 28/09/2011 09:54

Eh, she MUST have a party?? Weird. I am sure she will enjoy having friends to play though.

Spag, I understand your issues with moving to Puglia (or other provincial cities..). We live in the provinces and I think my DH only manages because he works away 2-3 days a week and so gets some breathing space (and people here have teeth, use zebra crossings and stop at traffic lights Smile ). I would think twice if you are not sure...

Rosa, let us know how DH gets on !

ForYourDreamsAreChina · 28/09/2011 09:57

Chuh! Teeth, zebra crossings.....don't know you're born you lot....

Francagoestohollywood · 28/09/2011 12:51

Hello ragazze!

Rosa any news about dh? can it be a calcolo?

Re veline: I don't think dd has ever seen one or similar (as we don't have a tv), but why the hell when she dances she does the mossette like any cheap velina on the market? Where did she learn? I dance like an elephant btw.

Rosa · 28/09/2011 12:56

LOL at the Velina shopping ! Mind you minirosa is heading that way I am sure. She refused in any way shape or form to wear her trainers they were simple Nikes from the sale shop in the Uk. They fit her ok but she says they are stretto. Her Birkenstocks are finished she has been wearing them since May.Its too hot for winter shoes and her clarks canvas shoes are her school indoor shoes. Waiting for dh to appear with dd1 was taning in front of shoes shop with a sale on. Minirosa says I like them mummy ( Eu24...hmm ) so in we go. We came out with a pair of naturino trainer style with hearts and lord knows what else on which she chose and loves.....!
As for no party lucky you minirosa wants one and dd is already talking about next March ( Ai Ai Ai). Besides if thats what she wants then great !
Dh is stroppy and I just want this apt to happen and we can get things sorted. He isn't taking any drugs and he has given up with Voltoren, Muscolid etc etc as none work !

Francagoestohollywood · 28/09/2011 13:13

don't make me think about the children shoes... buying shoes with them never goes well... and I've no idea what to do for the winter... I saw a great pair for ds at decathlon, but they stop at 34, and ds has a 35.
I think a pair of NB would be perfect for him, 'cause they are sturdy and comfy, but he doesn't like them.

I bought dd a pair of ballerine but she's already ruined them and they are quite summery. Thank goodness it is still hot!

Francagoestohollywood · 28/09/2011 13:14

Ah rosa keep us posted re doctor/dh

Rosa · 29/09/2011 13:18

UPdate ..so it is a slipped disc or hernia al disco. The othoped guy was not as helpful as the gp this morning!! ( needless to say the 1st guy was pagamento.....) It is acute right now and needs sorting. The gp has suggested this fisiatra to do some manipulation and then some other things . He has to loose weight so at least we are in the same boat. As for the front pain it is a contusione of something and the doc there and then gave him lots of punture just sotto pelle. So speriamo bene. I got a call from dd1 school she had earache. So pelted to get her then minirosa and off to see the paed this pm. I think it could be remnants of the cold and a bit of wax ( she suffers) but gocce and caldo diddn't help but as soon as the tacchip kicked in you could see ! In teh mean time I have made Handy Manys tool box. Its in fondant and I need practice as I prefer working with butter icing but its a start !

Francagoestohollywood · 29/09/2011 13:32

Oh slipped disc hurts... but I agree, a good fisioterapista should help. Povero dh!

And poor dd with the earache, hope it's nothing.

I am taking ds to the new paed tomorrow, as he's had a cold for more than a month now. New paed visits only one hr a day, can you believe it? And the consultorio near us has been closed. Wtf?
