Hello! I've managed to find you all again, took me a while somehow (doh) and I have been trying not to spend too much time on here recently so I can get more work done...
I survived the 6 weeks in the "sweltering boondocks" (Bucharest you have a definite way with words!) with the in-laws and actually managed to enjoy and relax, and DP was a totally different person, more relaxed and reasonable than usual - of course, he would be, back on his home turf etc.
Since we got back DD has started at asilo, the one I wasn't really sure about but we're giving it a go and so far she seems to like it, and be happy to go there every day, despite our reservations about the rather old-fashioned way they do things. We've already had an altercation about the fact they want to do monthly medical check ups with a (male) paediatrician without parents being there....there's no way we'll agree to that!
It's looking more and more likely we'll "have" to move down south for DP's work, Bucharest if you read this I'd love to compare notes somehow and get some idea of what to expect if I do ever give in. Can't say I'm keen on leaving Milan though...I mean, I would be keen to leave Milan for somewhere like Paris, Berlin or Rome, but we're talking provincial Puglia here, I feel like a fish out of water (or perhaps a dioxin-filled mussel would be a more apt metaphor, given the location...)
Rosa, very impressed with your cake business, I love cupcakes and have attempted them a few times - you're right, Italians don't really "get" butter icing on cakes. I, on the other hand, can't get enough of it... :)
