If it's in reverse the axis is changed, you need to double left click (apparently- i can get dh to explain better if needed!)

If not, restart PC

If all fails, mouse might have gone (the ball thing most likely)- buy another one

MrsDoolittle · 07/10/2005 16:56

Reminds of this. Hope it works

MrsDoolittle · 07/10/2005 16:58

Obviously not. Try this

LadyDragonOfSoup · 07/10/2005 17:14

Is it behaving as if you are using the mouse? Mine does this because one of the click thingys gets stuck against the little wheel. A sharp whack onthe desk with the mouse sorts it!

katymac · 07/10/2005 20:06

It's when I'm not touching the mouse at all

Just restart the computer. shoudl fix it. Is it moving up and down?

katymac · 07/10/2005 20:14

Thanks - it's been on & off all day

but yes it sort of flicks up then down

KristinaM · 07/10/2005 20:16

you need to restart it tho, not just change hibernate it (hope that makes sense). Dont knwo what causes it, just that ours does it too and that fixes it!!

katymac · 07/10/2005 20:18

Ohh it's worked (or at least so far)

Can you fix my mouse mat thingie on the laptop too

KristinaM · 07/10/2005 20:49

whats wrong with it? BTW I havent a clue, but will ask Dh. You know how men love to be seen as experts . I'm 8 montsh preg so he needs someone to flatter his ego

katymac · 07/10/2005 21:07

It just stopped working - do ask him I'm desperate

KristinaM · 07/10/2005 21:20

you might have inadvertantly disabled the touchpad. you need to use the up and down arrow keys to go into the control panel and the mouse/ pointer bit to check the settings

katymac · 07/10/2005 21:31

It says it is working - and I've looked at all the pages and it seems ok

But it doesn't work

OP posts:
KristinaM · 07/10/2005 21:41

have you plugged anything into it?

have you checked the bios on reboot?

katymac · 07/10/2005 21:42

nothing new

what's bios on reboot?

does your DH feel useful?

OP posts:
KristinaM · 07/10/2005 21:45

you need to restart it. then press F1 and check that the touch pad is enabled.

yes thnaks he feel useful. personally I would prefer it if he would go to the all night asda and buy me some mackies strawberry ice cream

that woudl be really useful

katymac · 07/10/2005 21:56

It doesn't say touchpad on the B&W screen

But I found the mouse/pointers bu=it and that said enabled

I think I'd go for the ice cream too

maybe you're going crazy!

KristinaM · 07/10/2005 22:02

suspect you are stuffed then. what type of laptop is it?

katymac · 07/10/2005 22:02

Almost certainly, however I'd still like the mouse mat thingie to work

OP posts:
katymac · 07/10/2005 22:03

Sorry x posted

It's a acer and only about 4m old - but if I take it back I have to cope without a PC and I need my broadband

Can you hire laptops?

OP posts:
KristinaM · 07/10/2005 22:05

if you plug in a mouse, does it work?
try the USB port or the PS2 port.

katymac · 07/10/2005 22:06

ep my mouse works - but it's a pain to drag round with me

KristinaM · 07/10/2005 22:07

have you loaded a new programme or anything today?

katymac · 07/10/2005 22:09

No - I try not to add things as they always cause hassle - I wonder if something got downloaded from the net by mistake

I should be able to do that thing where you take it back 3 weeks to how it used to be....what's that called?
