oh and if DH questions why dinner's late, I'm going to tell him I fell asleep in the chair - he probably won't question it as I had a really busy weekend

QueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2005 18:33

ermmmmmm I think so - can't remember why we weren't friends before

happymerryberries · 19/09/2005 18:36

dropinthe · 19/09/2005 18:37

Few "heated" words-nothing important but I do hate to be on the wrong side of ANYONE! I'm a coward at the best of times!
Have always valued your opinions!

Right-what about some spring onions with the cheese?

QueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2005 18:37

oh b*gger seems to be back firing, first comment (from someone who's in the 'yes' camp with regards to whether they should have free parking or not)

"I am not going to pretend I am not sat here in hysterics at your satirical humour, I am pmsl!!!

I laugh so hard at Catherine Tate's alter ego (the old lady) that I have to wear a tena lady in case "

QueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2005 18:38

no spring onions in atm better go - think DS may be sat on the piano again

Satine · 19/09/2005 18:38

Yes, they should get free parking but I live in the country and we have only one bus a week which goes to to the nearest out of town Tescos and it's usually too packed to fit a buggy on. So I'm also forced to use a car which is v irritating as I'd rather use public transport when I can. Not that I'm saying I should get free parking, just that public transport should be far better, especially with what we pay in bleeding council tax round here (mutter mutter)

S'ok QofQ, Vix is a highly-intelligent mother of a disabled child and is laughing with you not at you.. read higher up in thread.

I know - that's what I mean - you thought it may be taken seriously - which is why I posted it

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:42

I keep looking at her "59lbs till I dump..." ticker and thinking of Rickman's "1 day til my next bowel movement" one.

QueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2005 18:43

PMSL SD

spidermama · 19/09/2005 18:43

Whilst it's patently obvious that people with mobility issues should be allowed to park closest to the supermarket doors, I don't see why my deaf friend should get to.

But I don't really mind.

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:44

59lbs is going to be one hell of a dump

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:45

Do deaf people get blue badges too then, Spidermama??

QueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2005 18:45

surely crossing roads (and that includes car parks) when deaf is more dangerous that if you have your hearing. OK she's still got her sight, but just think about how we safely cross the road, we don't just rely on sight, we rely on sound too (is that car about to reverse out of its bay, it's got it's enginge running.......)

Fio2 · 19/09/2005 18:45

one woman has said that her friend spent her carers allowance on double glazing!!! does she know how pityful carers allowance is!

QueenOfQuotes · 19/09/2005 18:46

PS who's Catherine Tate

misdee · 19/09/2005 18:46

40 odd quid a week, wonder how long that took to pay it off?

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:47

Maybe they have a very small home with very few windows

SleepyJess · 19/09/2005 18:47

Each person is assessed individually.. it's not a case of having a particular type of disability.. and that is the deciding factor alone.

I know of adults with CF who get SO much grief when they use their badges and park in disabled spaces.. their lungs are buggered but this is invisible (unless they happen to be using oxygen) and so frequently get abuse!

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:48

I guess negotiating traffic is more dangerous for a deaf person but I wouldn't say it was impossible (which it is for people with mobility issues). Interesting.

SleepyJess · 19/09/2005 18:49

Fio that double glazing remark made me so ... how dare these people think they can pass judegment on another families finincial affairs just because part of their income is made up of Carer's Allowance!
