Discuss.. (please)

I am having this discussion elsewhere and amazed at some of the views. Just wanted to see what the general concesuss was on here.. without spouting my own views!

Uh,O! Cods in "da" house!!

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:51

I always assumed blue badges were for mobility only. Have, of course, learnt from MN that things like autism restrict mobility for reasons other than restricted movement iyswim.

SleepyJess · 19/09/2005 18:51

I would imagine your sis DID indeed have the gift of the gab Fio... a family trait?
Some the adults on the CF site have some classic one liners for the people who dare to challenge them about their blue badges!

(byt yeah, I'm with Cod. Free cars, free priviledged prarking, priority this, priority that. Sheesh!)

Jimjams · 19/09/2005 18:53

(... special road tax which does get free parking.... )

misdee · 19/09/2005 18:54

PMSL cod.

any one-liners we can use with peter? he used to get loads of abuse over his blue badge.

Fio2 · 19/09/2005 18:55

It is not a privelide to sit in a car with bad tempered 36 yr old man waving his daughters blue badge at people who even dare pass at glance at him parking in a disabled bay whilst doing a two fingered salute and making the air blue

privelige my arse

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:55

I can't actually believe people have the cheek to challenge someone displaying a blue badge though. I'd only ever challenge someone not displaying one. Unless I was fully aware that the person was abusing a badge meant for someone else.

SleepyJess · 19/09/2005 18:55

Yeah cod.. chairs with wheels at that! How f lazy can you get??! Bet they are all like Andy out of Little Britain and climbing trees the moment they have been assessed for this benefit and that benefit... sheesh!!!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:56

Fio, you do realise I don't mean it about the priviledges etc don't you...??

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 18:57

I hate that Little Britain sketch! It turns my stomach!

Fio2 · 19/09/2005 18:59

yes of course i do I cant even spell the word! I just get fed up of my husband! when someone is shouting "it has her f*ing photo on it in front of my children, it does make me a bit "

misdee · 19/09/2005 19:04

oh dear, i have started a new thread on bw. better run for cover.

Tortington · 19/09/2005 19:05

yes to enable as far as possible equal opportunity.

however this was a good thread as i read the first post - 10 mins ago and thought "hmmmmm, i dont know why they should get free parking" but then through reading about it i found that actually its much an issue of choice. i choose to take my car its convenient.

so thank you for a good question an equally good debate. i have been edumicated.

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 19:06

Phew. Was a little worried for a moment there...

I should be putting DSs to bed but am having to check up on BW now.

sharklet · 19/09/2005 19:36

I just read the thread on BW - not surprised when I said about my 87 year old very frail gran being verbally attacked by a young mother when we had parked in parent child space when all the disabled ones were full and she is in a wheelchair and is very difficult to transfer. As a result of this woman's abuse my gran stopped going shopping totally. Another piece of her independance lost - the general concensus had been that the woman wa in the right and how dare disabled people etc....

I give up.

Jimjams · 19/09/2005 19:39

sharklet selfish, selfish woman (the mother I mean). How dare she.

misdee · 19/09/2005 19:42

God... there is a big fight over there eh?

soapbox · 19/09/2005 20:15

I'd like to live in a society where it is obvious what the answer to this question is!

Sadly it seems not to be the case

Is the way we make provision for the weak and vulnerable amongst us not a measure of our civilisation or have we progressed to the point where its everyone out for themselves and bugger everyone else!

What a shit world we're building - makes me fu**ing angry so God only knows what it does for those of you with disabilities or family members with disabilities
