Money off Tesco.com shopping

I read on UKP's 'Parents on a budget' threads that you could get money off bills over £50. So, I did my shopping there, used the 5 codes supplied. and it took £25 off the bill. I now have a charge of £53, instead of £78! I showed dh, who is always trying to cut the shopping bill ( see other thread), and he said it couldn't be legal. Well, I don't know about that, but we'll see what happens. It seems that all the posters on that particular forum have done it, and not suffered and consequences...

Should be 'any' consequences...must preview!

Does anyone know if this IS legal? Dh is worrying me now, telling me that the shopping will be delivered by a policeman!

fidget · 15/08/2003 12:22

I don't know if this is legal but I am intrigued (spelling!) I've been waiting for someone else to post too!

fidget · 15/08/2003 12:30

Have just noticed metired's thread, save money at Tesco.com, are the codes related to the ones you used?

metired · 15/08/2003 14:00

have just noticed this thread maybe we can join them I got the codes of ukp also, and it works just saved £25

Chinchilla · 15/08/2003 19:23

Me too me tired. My shopping was supposed to be £62.17 after deducting all my BOGOFs, and it was actually £37.17!!! Amazing. I wonder when Tesco will cotton on, and only allow one code to be used at a time, and only allow that specific code to be used by one person.

metired · 18/08/2003 11:44

new code ladies -

CBMVTKM7GGJB valid until 5th sept

Chinchilla · 26/08/2003 22:25

It looks as if Tesco have cottoned on. Too long to give details, but on another site, people are saying that they have received emails from Tesco. These emails have said that they are using codes not issued to them, and that they have been deleted from their order...

Oh well, I saved £25 that wasn't mine to have, so I'm not complaining!

I have ordered my tesco shop today, hope I get the money off. saved £20.00 with the codes. . I have also just read that tesco have cotton on to what is happening.. we will have to wait and see to what happens next.

M2T · 27/08/2003 09:43

Where do you put in the codes?????

SoupDragon · 27/08/2003 10:29

When you get to check out, after the delivery slot bit. There's a bit that asks about e-coupons or e-vouchers. Near the credit card box.

M2T · 27/08/2003 11:35

Cheers Soupy, I'll try that tonight. You've been quiet lately!.... My PC is down at the moment. I'm going to try to get it working tonight so I can check my mail and do my shopping!

Hope you are well.

SoupDragon · 27/08/2003 11:48

If I've been quiet, you've been completely silent!

Mo2 · 29/08/2003 10:31

Yup - have also seen various postings elsewhere about tesco issuing e-mails saying that codes were not issued to individual accounts and are therefore not valid.

Metired - where was your most recent code from? If codes are published in magazines in store or available to the general public, i can't see how they couldn't honour them? If they're sent to you individually, well I can see how that's different.

TheOldDragon · 29/08/2003 14:12

Just remembered how much I HATE Tesco.com. They are CR*P! Managed to lose all my chilled items (36% of my order, I worked it out) and when I asked when it would be re-delivered the Customer "Service" Rep said "That isn't going to happen." AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!

Don't use them - they're rubbish!! Grrrr. Will be using Sainsburys or Waitrose/Ocado in future - who cares if Waitrose are more expensive.

Chinchilla · 30/08/2003 18:38

At least they delivered the chocolate!

Old Dragon, are Tesco.com really as awful as you say. I've always used Sainsbury's before and never had any problems but was thinking of giving Tesco a try. don't think I'll bother now.

marthamoo · 30/08/2003 19:21

Tabitha,

I think it depends where you live (it shouldn't, but there you go). I'm 98% happy with the service from Tesco.com - odd items are out of stock, but then they are when I go to the store. They almost always deliver on time and ring if they'll be late.

I only tried Sainsbury's once and found them abysmal - an hour late, loads of items missing, frozen stuff defrosted, chill stuff warm and some items going out of date the same day. They had only just started offering the service in my area so maybe they have improved since but I have never risked it again (I did complain and had no response at all).

I'm just so thankful that Waitrsoe don't deliver where I live - we spend far too much on groceries already!

marthamoo · 30/08/2003 19:22

Or even Waitrose.

SoupDragon · 30/08/2003 19:38

Certainly the 2 local Tesco stores I've used have both been poor. The one I currently use seems to be abysmal though.
