Money off Tesco.com shopping

I read on UKP's 'Parents on a budget' threads that you could get money off bills over £50. So, I did my shopping there, used the 5 codes supplied. and it took £25 off the bill. I now have a charge of £53, instead of £78! I showed dh, who is always trying to cut the shopping bill ( see other thread), and he said it couldn't be legal. Well, I don't know about that, but we'll see what happens. It seems that all the posters on that particular forum have done it, and not suffered and consequences...

metired - i just tried the code valid to 5th september and get an error "'Save £5 on £50 of groceries delivered before 31/08' eCoupon is only valid for orders delivered between 16th July 2003 and 31st August 2003"

Tabitha,

I agree with Marthamoo. I use Tesco most often, and have found them to be very reliable. Very few substitutions are made on my orders, and when there are substitions, the delivery guy points them out to me right away. I've used Sainsburys once, and got really AWFUL substitutions, and a harried/grumpy delivery guy who was late, etc.

Up until friday I was v.happy with tesco but, like OldDragon, Friday's delivery was only 2/3 of what I ordered - OK made my shopping bill a bit cheaper but v. annoying - I mean - what supermarket runs out of strawberry jam and fusilli pasta etc. and can't offer a substitution for them?

It definitely depends on the area you live in. We've got 2 big Tescos and one small Sainsburys in our town so we tend to use tesco.com. It's been fine mostly and any errors have been quickly sorted out by the helpline. Most of the probs have been packing mistakes like putting stuff in my order that is out of date the day it's delivered so these are down to whoever packs my order and how much common sense they have.

My FIL has just given up working for Sainsbury's doing the deliveries - he lasted 5 weeks! I didn't realise how much pressure the drivers are under. They have to do 6 deliveries per 2 hours, regardless of distance between jobs, etc and most of the time they have to load the stuff themselves within this time too. Made me feel a bit guilty when I've kicked off at deliveries being 15 mins late.....

Tesco are currently doing a 'Win your shopping for a year' competition. Go to the homepage.
