We all know that children say the funniest things my eldest has come out with some corkers. But quite recently she has been going into great detail about a house she used to live at and a pet rabbit she used to have - we have only lived at this house and we've never had a pet rabbit. Also not long after my grandad died when I would put her to bed she would ask me who was the man standing behind me, I never dismissed what she said as silly because you never really know do you?. Anyone else got any really funny or wierd things that thier children have said/done?

This is not really funny but I did find so incredibly sweet that I need to share it - last night when putting my ds to bed we were talking about what we would dream about so he said he would dream about being on holiday and playing on the beach so I said I would dream of holidays too - on leaving the room he said to me
"see you on the beach mummy"

A friend of mines ds said recently. "you've got 3 names havn't you, Daddy, John and stupid!!". I think in our house dh would have a few more than 3 names!?

dd and I were at the pool on Saturday when the siren went off to indicate the start of the wave pool. Her reaction was one of shock at first as we hadnt been to that pool for a while, so I smilingly said its ok its the waves, the waves, its fun, to which she responded by holding up her hand and waving at everyone. Of course, i burst out laughing and then had to quickly join in with her as she thought I was laughing at her! Anyway, twenty minutes later the siren went off again, and she immediately started waving excitedly at everyone in the pool. Very sweet!

These are very funny - and thumper, that is so sweet with the waves! That will be a great story to tell her as she gets older...

I was putting ds to bed for his afternoon nap, and kissed him saying "Ny-ny sweetie pie!" He looked at me and asked, "Me pie?" I smiled and nodded. He thought on this for a second and then pointed at me and yelled gleefully, "You cake!"

Went to a wildlife park last weekend and was looking at some monkeys when my 5 yr old ds asked "Why don't monkeys wear socks?". My friend and me sniggered like schoolgirls because at the time a big bare monkey bum was staring us in the face, so compared to what he could have asked, we got away lightly!!

My aunt came over on Friday so that dd (aged 2.5) could try a bridesmaid's dress on for size. The dress is gorgeous (cream silk with gold embroidery and a gold sash) and dd is very taken with it. As she was trying it on, ds (aged 4.5) came into the room. My aunt asked him what he thought of it, and without a moments hesitation he replied "Well, I thought she was my sister, but she looks like a beautiful princess".

The boy will go far!

jenny2998 · 15/05/2002 20:34

Azzie, can i just say AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW...

mollipops · 16/05/2002 07:10

That is soooooooo sweet!!! (Remind him of that next time he and his sister have a disagreement!)

Azzie · 16/05/2002 09:09

I'm saving it up for when they're teenagers and hate one another!

Marina · 16/05/2002 10:04

A career in the diplomatic service beckons, Azzie. That's really sweet.

I really enjoy reading this thread, one minute I'm laughing then I'm all choked up & shedding tears....being a mum can be so so rewarding. My ds isn't as verbal as some here but he still is quite sweet..can't wait for a sentimental ditty to write for you all...

batey · 18/05/2002 20:39

Slightly embarressing this one but dd (4 1/2) asked me the other day "what are those droopy this hanging off your chest called!?", she actually thought they were called "boomers" which I quite like! Maybe i'll get a push up bra eh!

Azzie · 19/05/2002 06:04

Inthe communal changing rooms at the local swimming pool ds pointed at my chest and said loudly "You've got big nipples Mummy".

Enid · 19/05/2002 14:02

Woman in bookshop to dd: "Hello X, how are you?"
Dd: "Mummy's got a baby in her tummy and her boobies are big 'normous."

hezzy · 19/05/2002 16:31

Waitress in restaurant to dd age 4: "hello, are you alright there?". Dd, looking at waitress like she's completely mad: "No, I'm half left"

I'm six months pregnant and my son (nearly 2) keeps commenting on my expanding belly, saying, "Big tummy, mummy". The other day he looked at me and added, "Tubbies' tummy, mummy".

Demented · 20/05/2002 13:55

Yesterday I was discussing with my DH where I could gets some raspberries to make jam with. He explained to me where there was a farm fairly locally and I asked him where he got them for me last year (hoping he would be able to pick them up again) at this point DS (3y 4m) interupted and said "in the shoe shop" we both burst out laughing then he said "Mummy got me pants in the shoe shop" poor thing didn't know what we were finding so funny!
