Why did you choose your mumsnet name?

This has been preoccupying me (I don't get out much!). Why did you choose your mumsnet nickname, and did it take you any time to decide on it?

I have to admit I pondered briefly about mine, but decided this one would convey a witty self-deprecation about me, motherhood, ability to communicate etc (har har har, pretentious or wot). So I just wondered...

OP posts:
Tortington · 29/07/2003 23:37

becuase i am yellow powdery and lumpy

BadHair · 29/07/2003 23:55

My name came about as the result of a recent bloodcurdling experience with a home highlighting kit. StrawHair or DayGlo would have been equally appropriate. Anyone know a good hat shop?

mammya · 30/07/2003 00:06

I chose mine because dd sometimes calls me that (no idea where she got it from...)

Ghosty · 30/07/2003 06:34

Mammya ... my DS has a game where he calls out 'Mummya!' and 'Daddya!'. And we call out '***a!' ... small things and all that
Anyway ... I am Ghosty 'cos I am pale and floaty and say 'Woooooooo ..... wooooooooo!' a lot!

wobblymum · 30/07/2003 08:45

Mine's because when I first joined I was pg with bad SPD and when I came on the PC I'd just spent a few minutes hobbling down the stairs so I felt like a wobbly mum. Now I'm wobbly because I spend most of my time either not getting any sleep and/or worrying about dd!!

Metrobaby · 30/07/2003 09:24

Mine because my first car was a Mini Metro - I loved it - it was my first 'baby' I guess. Unfortunately it got squished in a fairly minor car accident as it was riddled with rust.

Not of my subsequent cars were ever the same ....

lilymum · 30/07/2003 09:29

Cos I like the name lily, and one of my girls has a flower as her first name.

fio2 · 30/07/2003 09:32

Im so unimaginative

janh · 30/07/2003 10:30

Me too, fio...I wanted Bagpuss, I love Bagpuss, but that's gone too - but like Marthamoo's Fenella, I've never seen a post from her.

Northerner · 30/07/2003 10:39

Beacuse I am...!

luchar · 30/07/2003 14:22

First three letters of each of both DSs names - bit of a giveaway if anyone I know is on here too (and I tell enough people about it!)!

Rhubarb · 30/07/2003 15:15

I like Rhubarb, especially in crumble!

ThomCat · 30/07/2003 15:35

It's one of my nicknames, becasue of my surname and some witty bugger once added cat and it stuck with a few people so I use it when I can't think of anything else. My other choices weren't allowed for some reason???

bunny2 · 30/07/2003 23:05

Dh calls me Bunny cos I shag like a rabbit (apparently). Still havent told him bunnies were my Mums discreet euphamisn for sanitary towels

fio2 · 30/07/2003 23:07

bunny you been on the wine again

mrsforgetful · 31/07/2003 00:01

my kids call me it as they have to ask/remind me to make their cups of tea after school at least 20 times (and no....this is not an exageration!)

jasper · 31/07/2003 00:11

wanted to call my baby jasper but dh would not let me

Tortington · 31/07/2003 00:39

rhuby who is crumble and does your dh know?

Ghosty · 31/07/2003 01:29

... Rhubarb and Custardo ... I thought you called yourselves that as you are already mates and Rhubarb and Custard go well together (as in the cartoon ....)

steppemum · 31/07/2003 10:22

chose mine because I live on the steppe, and I like the idea that people probably wouldn't get it straight away. (I'm not a stepmum by the way) I was going to use my real name, and then my dh told me you're supposed to be anonymous in achat rooms (I'm such a rookie on the internet) Mind you, anyone who knows me would work out this is me within five minutes. There are only 2 or 3 British mums in the whole of the countyr I live in, so a bit of a giveaway)

Boe · 31/07/2003 10:25

HHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM - Rhubarb - my DPs nickname is crumble (he is crap at drinking like me and just crumbles) - do you have anything to tell me????

steppemum · 31/07/2003 10:25

I have to say I think Suedonim is the cleverest name too, and I love sprout too. lots of them make me laugh.

nursie · 31/07/2003 10:47

I love Blackadder and I'm nursing my baby!

Pancake · 31/07/2003 10:51

Quite obvious mine really but I first posted on pancake day!!!!!

hewlettsdaughter · 31/07/2003 19:27
