Why did you choose your mumsnet name?

This has been preoccupying me (I don't get out much!). Why did you choose your mumsnet nickname, and did it take you any time to decide on it?

I have to admit I pondered briefly about mine, but decided this one would convey a witty self-deprecation about me, motherhood, ability to communicate etc (har har har, pretentious or wot). So I just wondered...

think mine is quite obvious but keep thinking I should change it. However, I wasn't cross was very upset and not with anyone close just school head/teachers! Hence cross ma. Interesting to see what comes up like yours motherinferior, it would suit me.

I like your name motherinferior. There was a Letterland (Letterland is a method for teaching children to read) talking bus on the floor next to me when I had to choose so I chose the Letterland character for W, which is wickedwaterwitch. Not the first time in my life I've been called a witch, it has to be said

mine sounds vaguely like my real name, it's the way my niece used to pronounce it. Not very original and I think i'd like to change to something a little less like my name as I'm always recommending this site to friends and would hate my anominity to be lost as some posts are quite personal.
I love SueDonim's name and other clever play-on-wrods type names.

I have a little blue butterfly logo against my name on my computer and around the time I was joining mumsnet, I was framing a print for our bedroom which, by sheer coincidence, also had butterflies on it. So, I guess butterfly must have stuck in my mind and as for mum....well, with 3 youngsters, I seem to hear that word all the time (lol)!

I used to be a string bean like my namesake and was teased at school as a result, upset at the time but would now love to have the legs I had then, more like Bluto now (was that his name? Popeyes rival? can't remember)

I'm always getting called a witch by my mates and dh went through a phase of calling me badjelly the witch (after an ITV kids programme). When I saw WWW's name it reminded me of this and the rest is history!

I originally had a nickname that was quite obvious if you knew me but then, like eefs, friends of mine started looking at the site. I changed it to this as it's one of my favourite songs (Marillion) and it was one of my possible names if i'd had a dd. I ended up with 2 ds's so thought i might as well use it myself !

My Dad's nickname for DD, really wish that I had something original and witty. I love soem of the names, but don't want to change as I would just have to keep reintroducing myself

Magnum is a nickname given to me by my sis and her dh after a holiday with them abroad. When I tan, the hair on my upper lip goes a lovely shade of blonde giving me a rather fetching moustache (not sure if I spelt that right!!) which resembles that of the famous private investigator, Magnum PI!! Needless to say I don't think my sis uses this site or she'd recognise me immediately!!!

within hours of meeting my husband he called me womba, which is the name of a medieval jester or fool. i am a bit of a joker and make people laugh...not always intentionally, i might add! he never calls me by my real name and you should see the looks we get in public!

Mine's the cartoon cow from The Storymakers on Cbeebies. The line at the beginning of the cartoon is always 'blue cow wonders, wonders about the big world beyond her field ' - which I do a bit.
Am so slow I didn't even get SueDonim until eefs mentioned it...
