there is always a line of cars waiting patiently to get nto the sussex hospital you wait with your engine turned off for ten minutes til a car comes out then the ticket machine will release a ticket and let you in. i had left a space and kept to my left as cars that got pissed off with waiting could drive passed turn round and go out to find somewhere else.

a car came speeding down passed all other cars went straight in front of me ( i was second in line ..had left a space..) i bibbed my horn and gesticulated with my thumb backwards whilst mouthing "theres a queue" to which he stuck two fingers up at me. then he opened his window and started screaming so loudly and violently that his whole body went red. his upper half of his body was out of the window whilst madly he was telling me he was waiting.
" we have all been waiting"
" you fcking sill stupid bitch you fkcing........"

the builders overhead told him to shuut up and were calling him names. then another man came over - he was in a yelloe reflector jacket - i thought he was from the car park. i told him to phone the police - i was scared. i told him what has happened and he walked off - yes walked off muttering something about getting the car park people.

then the fella got his ticket looked back at me told me to fk off and screamed loudly " har har" like a fucking pirate. i took his registration number. waited for my ticket and got in not long after.

he had waited for me in his car, he had done a full circuit of the grounf floor them came speeding up behind me, revving his engine then speeding up and speed breaking like he was going to ram my car. so i stopped my car. i wasn't entering into a starsky and hutch type chase in the car park.

he then hurled more abuse at me " you fucking ugly fat fucking bitch you fucking cunt...." you get the picture. luckily i found a space straight away on the loweer level. walked briskly to the door, which seemed ages away. its a good 10 minute walk to audiology - and i got lost becuase there is building works and for all that time i was terrified he would be there as the lift doors opened or on the stairwell.

i finally got to audiology and said to a member of staff " excuse me can you call security or the police, i have just been scared by a man in the car park.

a nurse came out and said " its not our problem luv"

so i started to cry - not sob but i was a bit upset. my daughter had got out of the car whilst we were waiting and went down to audiology - i was relived she wasn't in the car but i couldnt go anywhere else int eh hospital becuase she was waiting to get her hearing aids fixed.

eventually they sat me in a room, i reported it to security and the police, security came and escorted me back to the car.

when i got back home ( a 45 min drive) i just burst into tears. and my husband said " theres bound to be a copper on mumsnet...get his fking address am going to knock his block off"

was glad to come home to dh and glad emma wasn't in the car when it happened.

I would have been crapping myself, sounds like he was completely deranged!

Not much help to you I know

spacecadet · 24/08/2005 19:09

i would, next time this t***r loses his rag, god only knows what might happen.

emmatmg · 24/08/2005 19:09

Bloody hell!

did security take his reg number?

Roobedoo · 24/08/2005 19:10

Oh you poor thing. I just can't believe the way some people are nowadays - they must be such aggressive people in their everyday lives to behave like that. Just the cheek of queue jumping stuns me, not to mention the abuse and I can't believe that nurse!

So sorry to read this Custy. I hope you feel a bit calmer now. This man is probably related to Misdee's neighbors by the sound of it. He is clearly unbalanced.

Definitely phone the police and report it Custy, its roadrage and reportable. Its probably on CCTV if its the Royal Sussex in Brighton?

This level of aggression amounts to an assault (ie you were frightened he was going to hit you,or worse)

The police will come round and take a statement from you.

stacijc · 24/08/2005 19:17

custardo u poor thing (((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

sorry...got no words....need to spill the rest of your day?

Blu · 24/08/2005 19:19

I am glad that the hospital security people took it seriously and helped you - you must have felt trilu isolated at the 'sorry luv' response.
Is your daughter ok?

how awful, and frightening for you.

Perhaps he was late for a psychiatric checkup?

(that is not meant to sound facetious)

sounds like he has serious problems.

Tortington · 24/08/2005 19:26

aww ta everyone.

actually unicorn - i was thinking that!!

i had dropped emma off at the entrance - she usually goes down get a ticket ( to wait for aid repairs) whilst i wait endlessly for the parking - sometimes shes had her aids fixed and come back to car before i have moved in teh queue. so she wasn't in the car at the time - thank god, or i dont think iwould have been so brazen. am actually pleased that i had the foresight to take down his reg. i cant believe i did it.

just an update - the police rang me back today and told me they had picked the guy up from the hospital - it turns out he has mental health difficulties and no further action will be taken.

cod does this sound right? can they just release him back into the community becuase he has mental health diffuculties?

OP posts:
SleepySuzy · 25/08/2005 16:19

Unfortunately they can do this. Care in the Community eh?

Poor you, I would have poo-ed my pants.

Maybe I won't go back into nursing after all.
