Come in, come in, to Tea Room the Twelfth! We now inhabit a rambling log cabin, surrounded by mysterious pine forests and mist-covered mountains (but also, strangely) easily accessible by regulars, new-comers and passing bishops, ferried in by Mellors driving the troika. All the usual rules apply and all are welcome!

RS -

Monoprix jammis - ph la la!!! Me too and a jumper and a few long sleeved t-shirts. I think they are pretty alright!

class rep - Well we seem to have to e-mail the other Mums to tell them stuff and organise social events, hold any other Mums hand if they want us to with things to do with school, sort out little extras like chariiillly events, do the class end of year book and help sort the class trip. It is quite PTAish but is for your child's class only. Being bilingual school they wanted at least one English speaking rep so I said I would do it.

C&A is around in quite a lot of european countries isn't it? Def in Germany and Sweden.

DS being too young for the pony snow day still got to sledge down the hill after his lesson, much to the amusement of the big boy horses in the adjacent bit of field. Took some beautiful photos of him riding in the snow on not fat but v v hairy pony.

As we left, they were harnessing a long suffering pony up to a wooden sledge to see if he would pull it nicely

Hello all,

Tea CandA exists still in Mexico too. I have always wondered if it was the same company or by some quirk of fate they happened to share the same name, since as far as I remember, CandA went bankrupt in the UK, which makes it surprising that it should continue to tender overseas. But what do I know?

Jacksmama Your biccies have arrived !!! Thanks very very much. I forsee some celebratory tea dunking will happen very shortly.

Panda hello and welcome!

Hairy moorland ponies rounded up today by DH and boy on their snowy walk up to edge of open moor and round a bit to next village. Apparently they saw 3 sheep on a wall, but neither of them will elaborate on that one!

I meanwhile was at work doing teh stuff I would have done on Thursday had preschool not been shut.

AND I bought a sledge, tried all the places I could think of in city, not a sledge to be had. Asked DH to phone hardware store in small town only about 6 miles off my route home, and they had some so I diverted.

Boy has been getting in some practise for the pony day, so I joined him in a few circuits of the living room showjumping course. With such tricky fences as the bath mat, the toy car lorry and most mysteriously the broken bit - which seemed to be an invisible line one had to leap over just in front of the fireplace.

BLISS, have you seen what Mellors has installed in the conservatory?

I'd forgotten we had a conservatory, its just over there behind that door, no, that door, the one with steam curling round it.

Its a hot tub. I've just had a glorious soak with orange bath fizz.... while looking out at the clear night sky and stars and snow covered treetops. All chilled out now.

Underfloor heating too so you won;t get chilly toes.

oooh, a hot tub

RacingSnake · 09/01/2010 21:33

What is pony day??

DH has made a passable 'sledge' from a plastic fertilizer drum pulled along with a dog lead. We have no hills* to slide down and it is perfect for dragging along a snowy lane.

*And anyway Wriggle would have to be at least 25 before DH would allow anything as dangerous. He has such a shock coming!

ooh I've missed a lot!

MT - hope mrThrush has good news on the job - fingers crossed X

Tea - interesting what you say about B A - she has always,to me, come across as rather different from your description but bow to your knowledge of the real person rahter than the computer gremlin we know!

MadBad - 55 Euros? no way. Faaaaar too much. MiniThumb has a hand-me-down dressing gown with Tigger on it - it's still a bit too big for him but he looks desperately cute in it (PFB emoticon)

UNiS - ooh ponies - what fun! Well done for getting a sledge after all

Panda - welcome, sorry I missed saying it before! And Happy Birthday to Pandacub.

RS - We get quite a lot of stuff for miniThumb but less now he is older; but he hasn't grown much this last year so he is still wearing a huge age range of clothes, even still a 9-12m top (that would never have fitted him at that age, far too big)

UniS · 09/01/2010 22:28

tomorrow is pony snow day... during which we denizens of the tea room will partake in fun sounding snowy activity linked in some way to ponies. I suspect riding through snow covered land drawn by a horse and sleigh whilst wrapped in blankets will feature.

Along with Alcohol, chocolate and classic car magazines.

make room for one more inteh hot tub. coming through.

SPLASH

RacingSnake · 09/01/2010 22:28

Hot weather! I have chilblains!

Ooops x post so need to post again - love the idea of pony snow day. Especially love the idea of riding through snow-covered land drawn by a horse and sleigh whilst wrapped in blankets, although with Wriggle's monkey tendencies I suspect she will be hanging off the runners by one hand while removing layers because 'it's too hot'.

Her English is coming on, due to exposure at nursery. This evening she proudly told me, 'I scarey catty!' Reminds me of DH when he first came to England. He too had obviously heard the word 'doggy' somewhere and assumed it was the term for a young animal, so applied it everywhere. I did enjoy listening to him in the pub, having a serious conversation about a 'horsy' in the field next to our house.

Good evening ladies. Is there room for a plump little one in the hot tub?

mistlethrush · 09/01/2010 23:46

Hot-tub - lovely

Anyone want a cocktail whilst lolling?

Horse escapades sound good. Really need to find someone with a bombproof pony that I can teach mistlechick on.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 09/01/2010 23:55

A cocktail? Don't mind if I do!

mistlethrush · 09/01/2010 23:56

Night Madbad - I'll leave you with the shaker to top everyone's glass up as appropriate!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 10/01/2010 13:18

Right, it's lunchtime. Mellors is wearing his butler's garb and serving pre-prandial drinks in the conservatory. What will you have?

mistlethrush · 10/01/2010 13:45

Hi Madbad, I'll have a glass of whatever that warm stuff is on the stove that smells nice and cinamonny and warming.

Anyone for an Italian style hearty soup - except its done with savoy cabbage instead of cavellero nero (sp?) and a nice warm lewd roll (Mistlechick's contribution)(space rockets this time I think)

Still looks to be plenty of snow in the sky, although none coming down at the moment.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 10/01/2010 13:56

Ooh that all sounds lovely, Mistle. We need to have a quick lunch so that we can get outside for the pony snow fun day!

amberlight · 10/01/2010 16:24

Mumsnet keeps booting me off it!

'Afternoon all. About to make one of my Stir Fry Surprises for those interested...?

How are we all?

PandaEis · 10/01/2010 18:19

evening
hot chocolate with mint baileys anyone?? and a slice of birthday cake with buttercream icing??

i missed the pony-day then? ahh well never mind. the snow is more ice and slush here any way so i would likely have just been cold

whats the smell coming from the stove then?? it smells nice an winter-warmery

UniS · 10/01/2010 19:36

Mad bad- you too with a decorous long legs swim cossie? I love my black one, nearly knee length, tis very swallows and Amazons 1930s. BUT not knitted of wool.

Had a brilliant day on the village sledging hill, must have been 30 ish kids plus assorted parents and friends of parents. Failed to field Boy a couple of times and he hit fence!( stock wire not posts or rails) head first, a small application of chocolate made it better , so no harm done.

We made a sledge this morning from bits and bobs of scrap, so had 2 to play with. A lightweight plastic job for the boy and a heavy fast wooden one for DH and I. As the big one won compliments from a blacksmith AND the nearly teenage lads who tried it, I'm happy.

Pony stuff was fun wasn't it. Who'd have thought that Amber on Mr T was quite so supple! the apple bobbing and bending race combination was most impressive. Wonder if she's got the icicles off her hair yet?

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 10/01/2010 20:18

UniS - Do you really have a Swallows and Amazons costume? I only have one in the tea room but hope that they might be flattering to those of us who, ahem, are generously proportioned.

I did enjoy the pony day. Being rather timid in all matters equine, I only managed one circuit of the paddock, with Mellors leading the pony, but Amber's performance on Mr T was awesome!

Many thanks for the cake and hot chocolate, Panda. Yum!

teafortwo · 10/01/2010 20:27

Hello all,

www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/charlieandlola/games/#/lb/charlieandlola/sockponyrace

I thought this would be useful for pony day!

We took Eccles for her first long walk in a snowy woodland a short tram ride away. Every Cocker owner we saw treated us like old friends! I remember Amber once saying dogs make making friends easy!!!

UniS · 10/01/2010 21:09

I do indeed in RL have legged swim suit. My newest one was from these people
www.ukswimstore.com/c-4-legged-swimwear.aspx but my favourite one ( a bit like the aquaris plain black on that site) is all black, matt, cotton & lycra. It was sold as a unitard by M&S years and years ago, but seems to have survived being used as a swim suit.

A somewhat fundermentalist Christian relative went a bit purple when I said that legged swim wear shouldn't be difficult to find for her (becoming body conscious in a shy way) daughters as a lot of Muslim women wish to wear modest swim wear.

Way to go on teh leading rein earlier MAd Bad, didn't know Mellors could hop over those little ( dog agility)jumps so well did you. You face was picture as your fat hairy ponies skipped over them.
