Goodness, we seem to have run out of space on the other one!
I shall assume that we are still in the same premises as for Tea Room Ten for the moment until wiser people tell me otherwise!!

Oh, RS, we have a lot of Daddy Is Best here. The problem is, I rather agree with DaisyBoy so it is hard for me to remonstrate. I mean, DaisyBloke is fun, rugged, plays lots of music, is great at games, hunts for dragons, builds stuff etc etc and I just get a bit naggy and snippy. Tonight I was tired and late home so I took DaisyBoy away from the mirror (I think his name should be Narcissus not Daisy ) and brushed his teeth for him. He was not impressed, but I just couldn't bear any more faffing.

Now, of course, I feel like a heel

I think we all prefer Daddy in Daisy Towers

RacingSnake · 28/10/2009 07:37

Please can we share your Daddy, Daisy? It sounds lovely for you. Ours is fun, rugged, plays lots of music, is great at games, hunts for dragons, builds stuff etc etc with Wriggle and naggy and snippy with Maman.

5 days of half term to go. Aaagh!

ps I don't think you sound like a heel at all. Too much narcissism at such a formative age can't be good.

daisy99divine · 28/10/2009 12:27

Ha ha ha
it sounds like you and I should swop, Racing, then you can be lovely to DaisyBoy and DaisyBloke and Monsieur Racing and I can snip together!

What an idea - Wife Swop Tea Room Styleee.....

I have just resolved to be more Patient than the Patientest Saint and Less Snippy than the Blundest most Unsnippy Scissors that Exist.

So that is sorted

Here, coffee and charming pumpkin buscuits with black icing

notquiteagymbunny · 28/10/2009 12:31

Good luck with that daisy, sounds a doddle

Last day at work until next Monday.....

Catitainahatita · 28/10/2009 14:55

Daisy and Racing I totally empathise. It's hard being the big bad monster who says no; who puts in the eye drops and other assorted medicine; brushes your teeth; washes hands; changes nappies; and generally insists on eating before permitting the ingestion of biscuits etc etc.

Daddies have it easy, I say. Still they are useful when dragons need to be hunted down

I'm off for my (hopefully!) last antinatal appointment this morning

daisy99divine · 28/10/2009 16:01

wow Catita that is so wonderful - I am so excited at the prospect of finally meeting we Gatita, we have been waiting for her a long time - our first Tea Room baby

CMOTdibbler · 28/10/2009 16:05

Can't wait to meet Gatita too

MaryBS · 28/10/2009 16:13

Worried about DH - he is at hospital atm with a DVT in his leg, waiting to see the Dr, following a scan. Do you get mobile phone reception in the priest's hole?

thumbscrewwitch · 28/10/2009 16:25

Ooooh, Gatita's arrival must be pretty soon - how tremendously exciting!

Daddies definitely have it easy - MrThumb is Quite Bad at doing anything remotely authoritarian or unenjoyable - a Good Time Dad, I call him. But at the mo miniThumb is still baby enough that mummy is number one - no doubt this will change as he gets bigger.

UniS · 28/10/2009 19:00

do you want phone reception in there Mary? If you do, then, yes there is. If on teh other hand you would prefer , just hand teh mobile to Mellors and he will call screen for you.

Hope all was moderatly well for MrBS.

Is Gatitia really teh 1st Tea room baby?

daisy99divine · 28/10/2009 19:36

oh Mary, so sorry for you, hope your DH is ok. Is this a sudden or unusual thing for him? Not of itself too bad I would think, now it is caught, it can be dissolved? Lots of hand holding coming your way

UniS I think Gatita is the first born to us I think - I mean we mostly arrived post birth and given our collective ease of conception/ carrying of pregnancy/ actual births achieved as a tea room , well, I think Gatita is rather a miracle baby really

Thoughts for MrBS. Is he prone to them ?

Um, was anyone thinking of maybe going to the MN Christmas party ? We were contemplating having a family weekend in Lunnon before Christmas, and if anyone I 'knew' was going, I thought I might combine the two.

UniS · 28/10/2009 20:29

Lunndon in december, I can think of worse places to be , but not many. No I shall not be a MN party . sorry to dispoint, but I'm not keen .

, So gatitia IS teh 1st, funny, I must have been mixing my threads up.

RacingSnake · 28/10/2009 20:57

MaryBS, I know nothing of the complaint, but am thinking supportive thoughts. I should leave your phone with Mellors.

MN party ... nooo ... not keen. Have never wanted to meet anyone from MN, not even the tea room, because I have such a clear picture of what you all look like. I am however, quite tempted by the idea of meeting Tea and Milk in Paris, because it would be lovely to have another Anglo-French contact. Whether it will ever happen, though?

Another quite awful day. 9 8 7 6 5 4 days left of half term.

UniS · 28/10/2009 21:53

eeeeekkkkk. What DVDs should I have my "ought to see" list. Have just re-activated a DVD rental thang, have it free for 2 month s ( till Christmas)

Have put Aristocats up there, also Wall-E, Cars and Clangers for boy.
The last Harry potter... now what.

RacingSnake · 28/10/2009 22:02

The Sword In The Stone I think it is called in English - anyway, the Disney about Merlin. Wriggle's all-time favourite; she is always acting it out. The Jungle Book has the best songs.

notquiteagymbunny · 28/10/2009 23:02

For grown ups? Slumdog Millionaire, Revolutionary Road if you are feeling brave. For Boy? Bolt, Shrek?

We've been to IKEA for tea . We needed quite a few 'bits' and have been adding to a virtual IKEA list. So tonight we went, bought and ate. Gymgirlie got a new bookcase for her room as hers is collapsing under the weight of all her books, and we also stocked up on loads of gift wrap, ribbons, washing up brushes, napkins, straws and bowls. Feeling all satisfied and domesticated now, but might need bolly tomorrow as I try to assemble said bookcase.

Mary, how is dh now? Any news?

thumbscrewwitch · 29/10/2009 00:38

Hope MrMaryBS is ok - DVT should be fine as it's caught now, the treatment they give him will help to stop the DVT getting any worse and prevent anything else happening. Only minor concern is why did he get it in the first place? Has he recently been on a flight? had an operation? been lying down for too long? wearing tight knee high socks or very tight pants?

If none of the above, he may have a fairly common condition (5% of the population, or 1 in 20 people have it) called Factor V Leiden thrombophilia. I have it, it's a bore. My Dad has it, he's had 2 DVTs, both successfully treated and he only had to take warfarin for 6m. My sis has it too - we both had to have daily heparin shots throughout pregnancy to avoid our massively increased risk of DVT, and warfarin for 2m afterwards. I also have to wear flight socks (soooo attractive) on flights and take aspirin and red wine and dark chocolate, basically anything that will help to reduce the risk of DVT. Have been known to have a shot of heparin as well, just to be on the safe side. Tis a royal PITA for travel insurance though.

Anyway, I'm sure he'll be fine in a very short time.

MaryBS · 29/10/2009 07:23

Thanks Thumbscrew, no idea why he got it. He's not flown or had an op lately. No knee high socks or tight pants! Personally I think he spends too much time sitting around, he could do with more exercise! Will they test for Factor V Leiden thrombophilia as a matter of course, do you think? He's never had a DVT before, although, he's always had an ankle which swells up, due to his breaking it about 20 years ago. He's now gone off to Addenbrookes for his appt - Cambridge in rush hours is a nightmare - he's allowed himself 1.5 hours to get in there!

On the film front, we liked Monsters vs Aliens, which is just out on DVD. Made the whole family laugh, that one!

Feel shattered, didn't get a good night's sleep! .

thumbscrewwitch · 29/10/2009 08:10

oooh, monsters vs aliens - I want that one!

I don't know if they'll test for it automatically, it's a fairly expensive test as they go (or it used to be when I did them years ago) but if there is no obvious cause for the DVT they really ought to test for it, to at least rule it out. Especially as if he has got it, then his risk for having another DVT later on is now higher. Maybe you could ask for it to be done - the fact that you even know about it might help.

daisy99divine · 29/10/2009 10:40

Oh, UniS for whom the list? Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Monsters Inc., Antz, Bug's Life for Boy I would think

But DaisyBoy doesn't really do much tele - he can't cope with longer than 15 minutes (Mummy, this is toooooo looooong) so we've never done a whole film

CMOT I hadn't even clicked on the party link, but not really my kind of thing, particularly since DaisyBloke has no idea I spend so much time in the tea room
However, Lunnon at Christmas is JUST PERFECT! Come it will be and is wonderful!

Gym I am so imporessed you just "went" to IKEA - I have been meaning to go for about a year, I seem sort of stuck somewhere between the plan and the actual walking out of the door. I think DaisyBloke is acting like a Lead Weight since it is his idea of hell, but maybe I just skip of on my own?

MaryBS I have Factor V Leiden deficiency. My mum too. She's had DVTs. I haven't. Only measurable effect on my life since diagnosis? (1) my mum nags me to wear flying socks and (2) I had to have horrid and really painful injections in my stomach all through pregnancy and 6 weeks beyond. But I doubt that would be an ishooo for MrMary? Good luck anyway

By the way, any news of JM recently? Last I heard she was ill with her mum and had killed her palmpilot... hope she's ok!

amberlight · 29/10/2009 14:51

I've been to Ikea

Had ds in the office with me today to help man the phones. An interesting experience, not least for the clients (tee hee hee). I think everyone survived. Great when they're old enough to be put to genuine work.

Catitainahatita · 29/10/2009 17:45

How's Mr. BS Mary? Have they told you any more?

Gatita is scheduled to arrive on 3 November, barring things kicking off beforehand. We're pretty much sorted...clothes, bedding, nappies etc. The only person not ready, quite frankly, is me. But I'm sure I'll cope. I tend to; it's one of my few dependable qualities.

Appointment went well. I have a good HA1Bc score (5.9 for those who get these things), low BP and good coagulation (whatever that means... I assume they are pleased I won't "bleed out" ,as they say in ER, all over the operating table). Gatita is apparently another wee baby (Kittenito came out a 2.3kg or just over 5lbs)but nothing to worry about.

RacingSnake · 29/10/2009 20:40

Congatulations, Catita. Never had any tests or time for tests myself, but it sounds good. You will of course cope - too late to change your mind now!

Amber, very many congrats for surviving Ikea. I would have thought that it would be a nightmare for you. Have always wanted to try the famous Swedish meatballs, though never quite enough to drive 2 hours to the nearest branch.

Daisy, am busy wrapping DH for husband swap. Will inlude kitkat in case of postal delays.

Tea, any suggestions for a better ebay-type site than ebay itself? French relatives have told me it is very expensive and there are better, without being more exact than that.
