Goodness, we seem to have run out of space on the other one!
I shall assume that we are still in the same premises as for Tea Room Ten for the moment until wiser people tell me otherwise!!

Need to go to bed now, having spoent (most of) the evening working on ideas for a creativity day based on Mary on Friday.

UniS - is this the place where you will stay? Can we all move there?

Amber - yes, arnica but little sympathy due to self-inflicted nature of injury. Sympathy for you, though!

MadBad - .

Woohoo! I had a thought last night about mistlethrush and Donk and wondered where they had got to - and here's mistlethrush back again! Sorry to hear mrMT hasn't a job yet though - that is tough.

I am in Oz now, MT, so my nights and days are all different to yours.

catita - sorry to hear about your woes, hope they get better soon

amber - sad for your DS but he'll be all right soon enough

gymbunny I think I know what you do and can see how you would be most unwelcome to other teachers if I'm right... (don't answer this)

Happy partyy to Boy - miniThumb is not having a party as such this Friday, more of an outing to see the Christmas lights at the Hunter Valley Gardens, or possibly we are going to the local community Christmas party instead (free and has a bouncy castle).

We went to a "farmers' market" on Sunday, more like a mini country show, and miniThumb had his first pony ride! he was excellent, didn't wobble at all (I was holding onto him of course) and enjoyed it; but not as much as the bouncy castle next to it!

If you haven't all gone to bed and finished the party already, I'll have a glass of virtual bolly (the only sort I'm allowed now) and some olives and crisps, ta muchly!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 01/12/2009 23:03

Why no really Bolly, Thumb?

UniS · 01/12/2009 23:10

top crisps, one of my favourite flavours.

Did you go all misty eyed at the first pony ride? Havn't done that yet with boy, just wheels. Strangely I get misty eyed at carnivals.... boy isn't any where near being "in " those properly yet.ANd Dh and I have only been in a couple.

gym, its dirty job but somebody has to do it, you just keep on pushing that sweepers trolley and brush and keep them streets clean and bright.

Yep, I hope this is where we will be staying. DH has seen a job advert... BUT although the money is fantastic it would mean re-locating back to the South East, and neither of us want to do that. We have however pulled out of teh house purchase- not because of teh job ad, just coz of our -over- carefull natures and some paper work problems making it hard to get finance.

mistlethrush · 01/12/2009 23:16

First pony ride - discovered MiniMT has PERFECT riding posture. Beautifully straight back, even heels down - and of course legs sticking out sideways like all of the Thelwell cartoons (anyone else got the set?). And this summer (4.25) I didn't hang on to him at all.... Next step, proper riding lesson. I've found out his friend has them on a Friday afternoon - but at the moment almost all extra-curricular activities have been put on hold 'until Daddy gets a job'... He can even finish off or even start the oft repeated phrase himself... can I do such and such when Daddy gets a job....

So riding and swimming lessons on hold for the mo....

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 01/12/2009 23:25
thumbwitch · 01/12/2009 23:28

weeeeellll, I shouldn't really say anything yet but it would appear that I am a bit pg. Did the test last week so v.v.v.v early days.

MiniThumb didn't have his legs stuck out to the sides, he had them tucked tightly in - he's been practising on Daddy! Also the holding on tight bit (they had a nice big pommel post to hold and he didn't let go once)

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 01/12/2009 23:37

Oh Thumb! That's what I suspected. I am a nosy old battleaxe but my instincts are good. Will keep everything crossed.

Right. I am definitely going to take part in the tea room gymkhana. I think I cut rather a dash in jodhpurs and a hacking jacket. Perhaps I'll have a canter with Mellors tomorrow.

thumbwitch · 02/12/2009 07:07

s'all right - if I'd really not wanted to say anything I wouldn't have mentioned the non-alcohol situation! But can't tell anyone (other than MrThumb of course) in RL just yet because, well, you know. We are keeping everything crossed as well

amberlight · 02/12/2009 07:22

Oooo, Thumbwitch!!! Keeping everything crossed for you - wonderful!

Morning everyone!

Well, I would volunteer Mr T for the children's pony rides, but they'd need a ladder to get on him in the first place and would be sitting atop him much as one would on a large table, I fear.

OP posts:
CMOTdibbler · 02/12/2009 08:21

Double crossed everything for yoy TW, and congratulations.

Pwoooor at Mellors in breeches and high boots. Am actually sneaking off for a hack this morning in RL. The horse I have been riding in lessons is much the same shape and size as MrT I think - something like 16h6 and a def cob type. When DS and I were lining up to mount on Saturday, one of the girls joked that she was ready for DS and he was all up for getting on him .

ThumbleBells · 02/12/2009 08:28

amber, thanks! (I have donned my Christmas name now - what do you think?)

teafortwo · 02/12/2009 09:43

aaaaawwww...

Thumb - Please give your tummy a special rub from the tea household!

Congratulations on such lovely news!

So tell us - how are you feeling?

ThumbleBells · 02/12/2009 09:58

Thanks tea - not too bad yet - a bit bloaty and the constipation has already started but I'll get on top of that with some banana oat cookies (tomorrow's job!) and some prune juice, which I love, luckily! Just being very fingers-crossedy about it all at the mo. No reason apart from paranoia, I should add.

teafortwo · 02/12/2009 10:45

Oh I know the feeling - I didn't tell anyone about Milk until 16weeks and then didn't announce it to my school until January and she was born in May! I was so nervous of things going wobbly! I had this big scarf that I wore to cover my expanding tummy which worked a treat until the children in my class who mistakingly believed me to be the village's answer to Kate Moss all started not taking their scarfs off to be like me... that is when the parents got suspicious...!

notquiteagymbunny · 02/12/2009 12:21

Congrats thumb. Keeping everything crossed.

Sorry to have been so evasive about my job, I am only trying to avoid being searched for or googled really. Teachers I think are OK with my existence, in general, but certain parent groups less so (thinking of specific threads on mn in particular, where people have had to do battle with the likes of me on behalf of their offspring). But I can assure you I'm quite nice, both in life and at work.

I'm just having my lunch and am going home in a while to pack for our trip to Ireland tomorrow for my cousins wedding. The waters have receeded and Mum's house is drying out thankfully but it will be some months before she can move back in.

Wow, so much equestrianism here, am feeling quite tempted to get the girlie on a horse but the prices here in the London suburbs is shocking.

daisy99divine · 02/12/2009 15:00

Heigh ho Silver!

Hurrah! MISTLE IS BACK!!! Wonderment indeed!

We've had a few days away in Cornwall. My God. The news about the rain and flooding out west isn't exaggerated is it??!?!?!?

Catita so sorry that times are a bit tough - do you have Infacol or is it more serious than that in poor Gatita's tummy? I hear good things about it, but have never needed it myself

Racing I too went wibbly at your moment with EW. How are you going with Something About Mary - this Friday is it? I think I must have gone past your homestead, and UniS

Gym I have no clue what you do. But I like you your day off sounds good

MadBad glad you have got MrMB to stop talking about tanks, a bit wearing I fear

I am feeling god awful fluey. Not good at all. Might have to fall over and whimper for a while

Big hugs and waves to you all, and ThumB a very special and gentle hug I am so excited for you, wonderful wonderful news

notquiteagymbunny · 02/12/2009 15:58

Daisy hope you feel better soon! Am done for the day and back in starbucks! gymgirlie is at drama and I had a few bits to sort before tomorrow. I'm hoping mums new pad has wifi!

MadBadandCoveredinTinsel · 02/12/2009 16:43

Hello everyone. I am modelling my new festive look so have added sparkly trim to my jodhpurs and hacking jacket. I had a very enjoyable canter with Mellors this morning. He does indeed look very handsome in his knee boots - he reminds me of Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility - although I do hope that, with his shirt unbuttoned to the waist, he hasn't caught a chill.

Daisy - Why not fall over onto the massage table and let Mellors' magic hands massage your symptoms away?

Gymgirlie - Hope the packing fairy does her stuff!

There's a flower-sprigged jug of hot chocolate on top of the aga, for anyone needing warmth and comfort. And some more maple walnut muffins. (All made with organic and non-allergenic ingredients, of course).

mistlethrush · 02/12/2009 17:41

MiniMT had really bad colic when he was small - it started on night 3 (not that it was picked up as such by the Sister who insisted that I wasn't feeding him properly (even though our technique had been praised by several people by then)) and progressed from then - a bad night he started at 7pm and stopped at 4 or 5am with the odd 5 or 10min lull occasionally... The thing that cured it was cranial osteopathy. After the 3rd treatment it just dissapeared - no gradual reduction or anything.

Infacol didn't help much, but colief did, although it was a real pain to use because of bf.

Anyone got any good ideas on how to help MiniMT to sit still eg in his play or in assembly?

MaryBS · 02/12/2009 17:46

. Am not feeling well again, may be sickening for something... any hot honey and lemon going spare?

DD has headlice again, am fed up with them.

ThumbleBells · 02/12/2009 18:44

MT,I have an idea that might help - can you give him a small squeezy thing to hold in his hand, so he can be squidging it while he should be sitting still - it might divert his kinetic impulses if he has one bit of him moving all the time and thus keep the rest of him still. I would suggest a small ball but the throwing opportunities/temptations might be too great..

Gymbunny, I was wrong about you. I think I have a better idea now.

Sympathies to the unwell amongst us - Mary, have you tried washing DD's head in a rosemary infusion? I seem to remember that is a good nit-remover; and perhaps if you got a shampoo that has rosemary in it, it would keep the little blighters off?

Cranial osteopathy was great for DS - he didn't have colic but he had real neck and right arm issues, all bent up and around. It straightened him out in such a gentle way - well worth it.

hot chocolate and walnut muffins, you say? MMmmmmmm - lemme at 'em!

UniS · 02/12/2009 18:59

Daisy you did indeed drive past us, this village was 1st bypassed in the 1800s to avoid a steep hill or two, then the bypass was bypassed by the A30 duel carriage way. making life in the villages right on the old A30 a lot quieter.

Thank you for the chocolate, very nice.

OH Mary, bummer about the little visitors in DDs hair. I had to check boy and myself yesterday after a head up from preschool, didn't find any thing. Got DH to check me in the end as I really can;t work out how to check my own long hair effectively.

And behind door 2 on the advent calender of requirement.. I find , a liquorice alsort.

mistlethrush · 02/12/2009 19:10

I've been thinking of that sort of thing too - I was hoping that I could get him to fiddle with his fingers doing counting etc.

I was even wondering whether I could get him some worry beads or something.

To start with (near the beginning of term) he was given a teddy to look after - but that seems to have fallen by the wayside. And I'm not sure that it would be appropriate for one of the wise men to be clutching a teddy....
