Hello and welcome to the seventh incarnation of the tearoom.

If you have found us by chance and/or curiousity you must know that the tearoom is a virtual safe haven for all those seeking a friendly word, a good cuppa and plenty to snack on. By virtue of its magic nature, no food can cause any physical damage, so chocolate, alcohol, transfat and all such can be consumed guilt- (and magically calorie-) free.

We have a wide range of soft-furnishing to relax on; a lovely garden with a swing and a ha ha; a variety of animals; a spa and (for some unknown reason) an apidistra.

Everyone is welcome, if you have one child, ten or none at all. We are a tolerant and fisticuffs-free zone. Instead we employ our energies swooning at Mellors the Gardner cum handiman thinking a silly things to get up to.

Please come in and say hello. You never know, you may end up joining us ...

Ahem.

I am shackled to the computer attempting to upload a video of DD performing her play. It has a script and everything:

won nite
ther woos
a Bump
ar sed
the hareey
then mum
caim in
I am scerd
he sed

  • won nite

[One night there was a bump. 'Argh', said Harry, then mum came in. 'I'm scared,' he said, one starry night.]

It's an interactive play, concluding with a guided treasure hunt in the garden.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 10/05/2009 21:41

Yes, Mellors was very assertive, wasn't he?

Catitainahatita · 10/05/2009 22:01

JM It is indeed Mothers Day today here. We went out for breakfast this morning to celebrate.

I am just happy today because DS's tests results came back yesterday afternoon and it turns out he's not any type of diabetes or kidney malfunction. I have had a worrying week and am GLAD GLAD GLAD it is over.

(Long story: he's been drinking a lot, even the bathwater, waking in the night demanding water. I checked his glucose on my machine and it came back high. Cue immediate visit to paed etc etc. Several sleepness nights later, all seems well. It appears DS is just thirsty... and my reading was somehow wrong )

Oh and DS says HAPPY BIRTHDAY to milk

Must go before he breaks down the study door...

daisy99divine · 10/05/2009 23:10

Hello all! well done Tea42 and Milk - having rread your "days" on the other thread about playing, Tea, I am coming to live with you!

JM good luck with the hippychick. DaisyBoy and I have discussed it at length. he wanted one. We borrowed one. After 2 seconds he had the ab dabs and didn't feel "safe" so that appears to be that

UniS glad you survived weekend and gardening. We had lovely weekend too, lots of time outside wandering in London

CMOT your hols sounds fun

Happy Mothers Day to all that are in the right place - I guess we could operate on the "it's always mother's day somewhere" - somehting I often use for the YardArm and wine

Amber - just hang on in there

JM I think you've caught up now? Amber need not worry which is easier said than done

daisy99divine · 10/05/2009 23:10

forgot to say Justa - glad holiday was good but Spanish A&E - are you ok? can you have an early scan???

daisy99divine · 10/05/2009 23:11

DCMB - love the play, you could get Master Amber to star in it??

daisy99divine · 10/05/2009 23:12

Donk - if you can raise your donkey bottom head a little from your en guarde position I will rub your ears - glad things are a bit better with your Dad but it must remain really hard

DD's theatrical debut is now on Flickr. She is EXTREMELY pleased with herself. I should go ton the play thread and tell everyone about the kind of things 5yos get up to if you ignore them for a while ... she's not even injured herself today, so that's good.

Is Master Amber a Harry, or an actorrrr ? Or both?

I had my friend's DS in mind for the starring role, he's five, called Harry, goes to drama classes. Perhaps he could play Young Harry and Master Amber Older Harry? With Ian McKellen as Really Old Harry (no reason, just been not-watching The Da Vinci Code, and Sir Ian and the line about the library were the only good things in it).

Gah. Goodnight!

She mutters in her sleep.... DCMB - Master Amber is a triumphant thesp in the making so ideal for Older Harry and a good lead up to Sir Ian

Thanks MadBad

Mistle - Hmmm - I am not really that keen on the whole British bulldog thing. It was a passing idea based on research instead of deep feelings.... I am back on lusting after a Sussex Spaniel if the truth be known.... they are so so lovely.....

Daisy - you are welcome to come and live with us but with my parents here and needy friend coming over at any minute all the time all I can offer you is the kitchen floor..... sorry!!!!

By the way - sorry for writing 'hey' instead of 'hay' earlier - I am so ashamed!!!!!!!

nighty night xxxxx

amber32002 · 11/05/2009 06:16

There are nutcases?! I haven't seen any of those. Just some exhausted parents who need SO much more help and support and someone to be there, really. I guess that if we could all take part in 100% reasoned discussion under those circumstances, it would be a miracle of Biblical proportions? It's me not being able to handle it, and people not knowing enough about ASD responses, that's the problem, I think.

DS almost lives for his drama. He'd need no encouragement to leap upon the stage. Half his mates at school are young actors from the main films, which makes for unusual trips to the cinema: "Oh look, there's (fred), and there's (harriet)! Must remember to give her back the Biology book she lent me"

I think I need more tea...

Jacksmama · 11/05/2009 06:51

Is anyone here?

amber32002 · 11/05/2009 06:54

Sorry, was in the garden, trying to get the Bison out of the potato patch whilst Mellors is Otherwise Engaged.

Toast?

Jacksmama · 11/05/2009 06:57

Amber, I hope I'm not being intrusive, but I have one more question - well, two:
You said that you asked MN to help you and they wouldn't - help you with what and why wouldn't they?
And also, that you'd be on gentler SN threads until MN decides what to do with you.
I'm sorry, but I just can't figure out what's going on and I would like to know because this doesn't sound good and I am concerned.

I tried to read the thread in question but got bogged down because it's too long (and Jackbaby wants all of his mama's attention right now, he doesn't like it when she stares too long at the lighted flat thing with the outline of a piece of fruit on it).

But I can live with not knowing if you tell me "JM, don't bother, you don't need to know".
(I won't like it though.)

Jacksmama · 11/05/2009 06:58

Yes please to toast. I brought some more homemade strawberry jam.
